Did anyone see the interview with the "biosecurity and infectious disease" expert Michael Osterholm just now?  It was excellent because he made it simple to understand and answered lots of the common questions.  Based on what he said, there is no doubt that this is going to continue for a few months, meaning there is a serious doubt about the start of next season too.

In particular, I hoped @blueflagheard it as Dr. Osterholm revealed some very interesting facts and stats about the virus.  If it's repeated on BBC or CNN later it's worth listening to if you are concerned about it, or want to know more.

You didn't mention where this was?

Incidentally when you posted that three hours ago I was still travelling back from the match last night  so fat chance that I did see it.

However, I am more than sure there is loads of "experts" out there, each with there own views too. I am sure if i troll the internet when i finally get home tonight i could sit and find a few professors or whatever title they have that could argue against some of the things you are trying to claim here is all facts.i read your post again and I come to same conclusion that I did earlier, your list is just pure guesswork like the many others appearing on social media.

I've found out but didn't want to mix facts with opinions on this particular post

After saying 4 paragraphs earlier the deathrate in china is higher because more people smoke. How can you claim that is not opinion ? That is pure conjecture.

You also claim in BIG CAPITAL LETTERS.. it is NOT SEASONAL.. like that is some 100% fact. Reality is sir, this particular strain of virus has been about since dec-march. How can you claim that is pure fact, and not opinion. Please.

I didn't intend to upset you dude. It clearly did you asking me if i watched somr professor who obv backs up some of this conjecture.

I think we are agreed on a lot of your points and it unfortunately is here to stay for the meantime.

Guess we just need take each week/day as it comes.

I honestly thought I was helping.  I'll withdraw now before I cause you any more distress.

Now I am home and settled, I coudlnt help a quick "look into this myself". Just like you suggested.

Sir Patrick Vallance, who is the chief government scientist, actually disagrees with two of your "found facts".

He says the ratio is 2.4 - 3.0. Which shows 2.4 the lowest of the possibilities and shows quite a range of unknown their.

He also says this COULD BE seasonal, which is complete opposite of your "fact".

I am interested why you think your evidence is contrary to the uks chief scientific advisor?

Anyways mate, listen, i aint distressed.  Far from it. Being honest I just took a bit offence at you claiming the smoking fact, that one really was just bullshit to be honest and i coudlnt refrain from pointing it out.

Im also a little butt hurt that I have 4 tickets to the semis of the euros at Wembley this year, and they looking like moving that a year now too. Tickets are 350 face value and will be a pain to reorganised for next summer, but that wasn't your fault by any stretch of thr imagination so no i'm not distressed. Sharing opinions is good, we all here to help each other.

I was going to withdraw but for some reason you seem to want to engage further, so at the risk of distressing you further ...

1.  I gave some scientific facts from experts around the world.  They were not my facts.  They are the facts from 8 specialists I just happened to be given the names of (work related).

2.  In using the 2.4, I was trying to demonstrate that in a stadium with 10 infected people, there wouldn't likely be hundreds who would then be subsequently infected.  I accept it might be 3, but that means 30.  Why would you get so annoyed about that margin of error, and why does that change the point I made?

3.  You may not have wanted to hear about the smoking point, but it is one that many experts are pointing out.  I didn't say it to alarm anyone, or to upset anyone.  I said it because they claimed it was a major factor in both China and Italy.

4.  On the seasonal point, I did not want to go by one scientist.  Instead we chose a few to compare and contrast.  I can't find another one who thinks this is a winter virus, and in fact evidence from previous coronavirus outbreaks suggests it is not, because for months it survived the high temperatures of the Middle East, Singapore and Australia.  Again, my point was that the summer heat would be unlikely to kill it and we'd be facing this for months to come.  Please check my original point.  I don't know why you're getting annoyed at that either.

I am sorry you're feeling hurt at your semi final tickets, but try not to take aim at me.  I was trying to give people the benefit of some analysis I've had my team do for me.  I understand it might be unpalatable if it's true.  I can even accept that this strain may be quite different from that which is experienced in other regions.  Like many people, I am trying to make the right decisions based on as much evidence as I can collect.  My original point was that there is so much conjecture in the press, most of it designed to alarm people just for the clicks and hits.  My only motive in posting this was to save others the time and to help.

I work in the emergency services and we have next to no guidance on this , however what we do know is the number of cases and deaths , however what is completely unknown is the number of people who had it and made a complete recovery , all this proves is the mortality rate is no where near what they are quoting because of the unknowns .

Also what we do know is that last year in the UK , approx 26000 people died from seasonal flu , and that has stayed constant since they started recording properly in 2014 , it’s actually 23000 in England and Wales and around 3000 up here .

Going back to the topic , there are just too many unknown factors at this moment to make any kind of decision , it’s not just who wins a title , it’s european spots , relegation , promotion , and that’s before you go into players who are out of contract or have signed for other clubs , if they get injured after a certain date who’s liable etc etc .

UEFA need to make a decision right across football and use the prize money from the 2 main competitions that haven’t been completed to help the poorer nations , but we all know this won’t happen .

This might just put some clubs in Scotland to the wall , we’ve been down there , we know what it’s like , no matter what I personally feel towards other clubs , I wouldn’t want to kill any team just to placate another , we need a wise head to sort this out , unfortunately we don’t have any .

I'm in a 'que sera sera' mood about it all.  No point getting too excited or upset about something you have no control over.

Some huge decisions will have to be made but I suspect the bigger countries, like England, Germany and Spain, as well as FIFA and UEFA, will be the ones who lead the way.

If the season is delayed longer than a month, they surely can't expect all the matches to be completed and as such, it would really have to be null and void, with 2020/21 starting off as 2019/20 did.

@Gaffer i'm not quoting the reply because i simply cant even be arsed going through it piece by piece like you did despite "withdrawing" twice now.

I will go back to the smoking one to prove my point sir.

South korea had a higher smoking population than both Italy and China. But it had the lowest death rate yet of any covid 19 countries. But hey split hairs eh.

I agree with rbr. Far too early to be discussing what the actual death rate is anyway.

Again, i'm not distressed, and really aint taking anything out on you i promise, its just like share an opinion fine, like it, but dont claim "facts" when as said its opinion and or conjecture .

Smoking is not a risk factor!  Great, now let's move on.  If you believe that and feel comforted with that, I'm glad.  Ignorance is bliss, t'is folly to be wise.  All this because I made a couple of points about our league season and stupidly used facts from experts rather than the daily record.

Point being you didnt use facts.  I think it's clear you are an armchair biologist like the hoards on facebook. You used opinion but we getting no where debating over it really.

Yesterday it was fact according to you the death rate higher because of smokers. Yet now its a risk factor since south korea doesnt fit your motive.

Each to their own facts as you say.

I have never read or even saw a daily record for a number of years btw.
