SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)

Recommended Posts

A decent statement from RFC with the promise of quick cash a good way to get other clubs onside. Better if we'd offered an equal split of prize monies.

Other than that  unconvinced we will be able to garner enough support to thwart any vote.

Again ... is there any SPFL ruling that can, legally, fix a season at a given status quo and determine titles, relegation, promotion? If so, that ruling can be enforced by whom, the board alone, an accepted proposal or an e.g. unanimous decision by all members of the SPFL? Or have 50, 75 or whatever % have to agree on this?

Maybe I overlooked it, but why are Hearts not mentioned amongst the relegated teams? Or is that in the reconstruction bid? If so, a sneaky bit to get them to the yes-voters.

Everybody knows the corrupt SFA make up the rules as they go along! change them to suit any agenda whenever they want! all the Scottish clubs allow this to happen!. They made up rules to deal with Rangers when admin hit us! then changed the rules again to deal with Hearts! backed up by all other Scottish clubs and Scottish gutter press!.

Club Statement – 8th April 2020

Wednesday 8th April, 2020 at 4:21pm

Following today’s SPFL announcement, Partick Thistle FC will simply not accept this proposal as it stands. We believe that the proposal requires significantly more discussion, scrutiny and debate before any vote can be taken. We are now engaging with others to amend the proposal to identify a fairer and more equitable solution to address a number of inequalities it throws up.

At an unprecedented time for football, we believe that it doesn’t meet the basic principle that no club should be left worse off by this important decision. It also seems to link acceptance of the proposal before payments can be made to hard-pressed clubs but, in our opinion, the two things do not need to be linked. Money to clubs is a priority, the proposal could be debated in slower time.

It looks like the SPFL has made their mind up to terminate the season and award titles to the current leaders but they are hiding behind the UEFA angle to defer their decision until the lowere leagues are dealt with through the rule change and then a precedent will be set and it will be argued that it would be unreasonable to treat the lower leagues any differentlt to the Premiership.

If there was true leadership, they would at least state their preferred option for the Premiership, subject to UEFA agreement.

Restructuring to accommodate Hearts looks like the carve up that it is.
