Coronavirus and the political situation

Recommended Posts

Scotland seems to have acquired a particularly concentrated version of the condition assailing not only the UK as a whole but the entire western political edifice ..... decline. It's quite amusing that the country where decline has been most pronounced is also the country most keen to hang the "progressive" label around its own neck. The louder they proclaim their Scottishness, the faster any collective identity that links us to our heritage is evaporated. It doesn't require the eyes of an eagle to see that the bond between the SNP and its followers is based on a willingness to both offer and accept an entirely fraudulent proposition. It's a political convenience that's fuelling decline in many countries but there's nothing like having it in spades on your own doorstep to focus the despair it causes. At the moment, few things expose the impending disaster better that the SNP's utter refusal to accept responsibility for the Covid care homes tragedy and the eagerness of so many voters not only to accept the lie but to re-invent failure as success. Once this becomes embedded, and it is, decline is hard wired into the future.

The Salmond sex/legal scandal is another good example of the 'nothing to see here' methods employed by the nationalists.

Indeed. When your political leaders no longer make any attempt to disguise their dishonesty and enough voters become accomplices to that dishonesty, there's only one inevitable direction of travel.
