We had been linked with the young lad Charlie Allan from Linfield but he has signed for Leeds on a 3 yr deal.

I don't think we were ever interested and I think some were getting mixed up with Charlie Lindsay, who we did sign from Northern Ireland.

I think Stevie (4 lads) confirmed this

Just updating our first team squad page on our main site earlier and strikes me how short we are now in terms of midfielders. Perm three from Jack, Kamara, Aribo, Davis & Arfield with backup from Docherty, McCrorie and Barjonas. At least one more now has to be a priority.

Some suggestions from a Motherwell supporting chum that Allan Campbell may form part of a deal for Greg Docherty which I like the general idea of but I'd fancy he wouldn't be the first XI quality player that Gerrard will have his eye on. Future of Morelos again perhaps a factor.

I dont think 7 players for 3 spots can be seen as being short of numbers. We are clearly short of quality, and the Jack-Kamara partnership is really not working as both are far too defensive and both cover the same ground. One is enough, happy to rotate them, to allow Aribo to get forward, and we need a third player of quality to finish that area off. None of Arfield, Davis, Docherty, McCrorie or Barjonas are the quality we are needing for a full season although on their day all could make a contribution, and we know SG is looking to bring one quality midfielder in, but will perhaps need to offload 2 or 3 of this list to make room for the wages. I think our squad is far too bloated all over with average players who are way below the quality of the first picks, and leaves no room for our youth players to force their way in. Our youth players, much lauded over the last 12-18 months, have had very little opportunities to show if they can step up, and are not going to get any when there are big wages players ahead of them in name only because we cant get rid of them.

Last time I checked, Linfield was also in Northern Ireland .. and methinks both were mentioned in a rumour or two. As has been said, Stevie's laid that rumour to rest early on.

Rangers' Glen Kamara Drawing Interest From Eastern Europe & Host of Premier League Clubs

By James Cormack | Aug 11 2020

Exclusive - Eastern European outfits Dynamo Kiev and Dinamo Moscow are both lining up bids for Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara this summer, joining a host of Premier League clubs in the race for the 24-year-old.

Kamara joined the Scottish giants from Dundee for a mere £50,000 fee in January 2019; evolving into a prominent member of Steven Gerrard's starting XI at Ibrox in a defensive midfield role.

The former Arsenal academy student appeared 19 times in the Scottish Premiership for the Gers last time out and has completed 90 minutes in their two opening games of the 2020/21 league campaign thus far.

His impressive consistency, however, means the Finnish star has evolved into a man in demand this summer.

Sources have indicated to 90min that Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev and Russian outfit Dinamo Moscow are ready to pay up to £10m to secure Kamara's signature, and although Rangers do not want to lose the 24-year-old, they're also not in a position to turn down a substantial bid for his services.

The two eastern European sides aren't the only clubs with a recognised interest in the Gers midfielders, though, he's also garnered plenty of interest from the Premier League and a return to England certainly isn't off the table.

Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Everton, Newcastle and Southampton are all believed to have expressed an interest, along with Championship duo Norwich and Brentford.

Nevertheless, Kamara - who's break out campaign also caught the eye of French giants Marseille - revealed back in January that he wasn't prepared to let the speculation over his future affect his career.

"The manager hasn’t spoken to me about the speculation at all," he said. "It has been a big turnaround when I think back 12 months. I’m just pleased to be here and want to keep working hard.

"Coming up to Scotland was definitely one of my best decisions. It was to get game-time under my belt in men’s football and it has worked out well."

Kamara is set to play a key role in Finland's bow at the European Championships next summer, although it remains to be seen whether he'll still be a Rangers player by the time the tournament rolls around.

Mixing up Linfield and Glentoran doesn't go down well in parts of Belfast! Charlie Lindsay is seen as a real talent in Northern Ireland, he's the youngest player in Glentoran's history to play for their first team. Glentoran would be of a similar standard to Ayr Utd, Dunfermline maybe even a Hamilton type side, mid to upper level Championship club.
