Leeds will have a budget and when you try to buy a player, you start with low bids.  

 

Once a player's head is turned, that's half the battle.  Leeds Utd now play in a league watched by people all over the world.  Borna Barisic plays in a league no one outside Scotland cares about.

Low is one thing, but a bid which they know would never, ever be accepted is another.

 

Barisic just recently signed a long term contract so even if his head is turned, unless the club get proper value, he wont be going anywhere and will be expected to continue to perform professionally.  Thankfully our transfer negotiations recently have been much more professional and with proper values attached.

Expectations and reality often differ, particularly in football.

 

I really hope we don't sell Barisic anytime soon but if I was a footballer, I'd be looking to maximise my income at every opportunity.

And a player under a long term contract can't expect to throw his toys out the pram and get what he wants.
