Gut feeling says that Alfi might be gone after Leverkusen. Hopefully for as much as we can get, be it in up-front cash and/or sell-on clauses. Zungu looks to be high on the management's list and he seems to offer more for the attack than either Jack, Kamara or Davis. But we shall see. The striker thing may suprise us all again, but let's see.

Stevie4lads has remarked that it looks very likely that Zungu will join soonish in a 3.5m deal. No word on any striker just yet.

Checked out his showreel on YaTube and he looks tidy with an eye for a forward pass. Maybe replace S Davis position in the midfield pecking order?

Unless we get a striker from somewhere capable of scoring 30plus goals this season will be over sooner than we think

Some who can get 20 league goals will do for me. Once fit again Defoe will score goals. Let's not forget he scored more league goals than Alfie last year from far less game time

Can Defoe play a full season? Doesn’t look like it to me. 

And when Defoe does play hopefully our manager doesn’t play him up front on his own,a role he’s not suited to in my opinion

He won't play a whole season but he doesn't have to. He would probably have got around 17/18 goals last season if the lockdown didn't happen. Someone who can provide that from occasional starts and substitute appearances takes the pressure of the other striker IMO (whoever that may be...)

Think we’ll need to agree to disagree. I think this season is a season too far for Defoe who’s injured already. Davis too.

Yes if we are going for experience we have to look at 25-30 age group but don't ask me who as I don't follow moch football outside Gers.

 

The only exception I see in our advanced age group is Greegs who is EXCEPTIONAL and I see Defoe/Davis/Arfield as  bench players.

Morelos leaves and they don't replace him with a comparable commodity (highly unlikely) it's curtains kids. This kinda explains SG's drastic tactics change as he has looked to diminish the importance of the striker per in game scenario.

 

I tell you what though...SG loses Fredo and still stops #10...he will achieve legend status.
