I think pensioners would rather not have a voice in the EU if it led to such draconian measures to pay back such vast sums which they cannot hope to pay back. Greek membership of the EU and Eurozone will mean it remains in austerity for decades - and we were moaning after just 10 years !!

It’s always the same when an economic crash.  Those who suffer the most are invariably those least responsible.

Otherwise you might be right. NZ could have been a contender but I sense a degree of unwonted flakiness there nowadays
