Kai Kennedy joins ICT on loan until January

Recommended Posts

Reports about him going in loan to ICT for 6 months , now given he was reported to be refusing a new contract , could this be a thawing in relations and a possible reconciliation on the cards , don’t see what advantage sending him out on loan does if he’s going at the end of the season , thoughts .

Too big a gap between the youth team and the main squad. Even giving them some minutes, means taking that opportunity away from senior squad members. If they're good enough (think of a young Ally) they will be given the chance, but they're not THAT good. When they are, they're lured away before they can be given a chance (Gilmour).

This subject on giving youths a chance , we are in the midst of possibly the most important season of our lives/history , yet some of our own support want to give untried youths game time .

Can you imagine the hell that would befall the management team if he had played youths today and we dropped points , some of our own fans need to get a grip of reality .

If you look at what septic were able to do when we weren’t in the league , guys like Macgregor and Christie were sent out on loan for a couple of years to get game time ,plus they had a the luxury of playing these guys in European games they knew they were not going to win and when they had already banked the champions league cash , it’s totally different and now we are back , you hardly see a youth getting bloodied across the city .

I had this exact discussion with Kevin Thomson.  He said they had done far better than us at bringing youths through but I pointed out that the likes of Forrest, McGregor, Tierney etc were all coming through when Celtic knew they would win the league by 30 points as they had no competition.

Their golden boy, Karamoko Dembele (who by all accounts IS a very good player) can barely make the bench.  Their “youth policy” since we have come back up and have started challenging again has been virtually non-existent.

We do have some very decent youths like Dapo Mebude, Ciaran Dickson, Kai Kennedy, Leon King etc.... but they need to be patient and they need to develop.
