I fancy a team along the following lines on Sunday.

 

 

I think he'll keep the back four intact and not rest Helander because of his mistakes to show faith in the big man.  Bassey might replace Barisic but probably only from the bench.

 

If fit, I'd expect Zungu to perhaps start the game instead of Jack whilst Aribo might be moved into a deeper role to allow Davis to be rested.  However, it wouldn't surprise me to see Davis retain his place and Zungu only appear from the bench.

 

Up front, Roofe needs game time so he may start in a deeper role behind Morelos who I'd like to keep playing to try and get more goals from him as he's looking sharp again.  I'd fancy Hagi will also start, probably to allow a rest for Kent.

no excuses for anything other than a win today were  at odds of  1/10 against the accies at 14/1 or 6/1 for a draw which would also be a bad result today .

that said i might have a wee flutter on Motherwell at 6/1

Normally I would have included a centre back in that.

 

I would not rotate the centre backs today though.

 

I like the idea of them getting a good performance under their belt to erase any doubts that may come from Thursday night.

Like every other league match this season, today's game is hugely important. 

 

I'd like to see Hagi, Aribo, Roofe, Itten and Zungu all start.  Any kind of win will do but it's about time we started racking up the goals against sides like Hamilton.

There's no way I'd be changing half the starting eleven for a game that's at least as important as Benfica although given the right circumstances I might be using the full compliment of subs earlier than is usual for Gerrard.
