Separate Entity FC Plan About To Come To Fruition?

Recommended Posts

Hibernian FC today reiterated it would do everything possible to ensure it meets its duty of care to all players and staff ahead of tonight’s fixture at Celtic Park.

The club had asked the SPFL and Celtic to carry out an additional round of 'on the day' Covid 19 testing of Celtic players to provide an extra measure of assurance. We regarded this as a reasonable request – given the incubation period of the virus – but, unfortunately, our request was refused. The request followed 16 members of staff and players at Celtic being told to self-isolate on their return from an overseas training camp to Dubai after a positive result for one player, Christopher Julien, who is long-term injured and whom we wish a speedy recovery.

The SPFL made clear that not fulfilling the fixture would have severe consequences for Hibernian. The club also notes that we are being asked to fulfil this fixture less than two weeks from our Betfred Cup semi-final. We have been assured by the SPFL that any Covid 19 issues that may arise from fulfilling this fixture will be taken into account, and the semi-final postponed if required.

Listening to BBC Radio Scotland.

The SPFL have refused two formal requests to appear on Sportsound to explain the refusal of Hibs asking for all Sellik playing staff for tonight's game at Sellik Park.

Neil Doncaster, Murdoch MacLennan, and Rod McKenzie are the Chief Executive, Chair, and Secretary of the SPFL, they take almost a million quid per annum out of the Scottish game, and they refuse to explain decisions:

1. The decision to move the game from Saturday last to this evening against Hibs wishes, to accommodate ra Sellik's R and R trip to Dubai.

2. The decision to refuse the reasonable Hibs request for Covid testing of the Sellik squad for tonight's game.

The SPFL have threatened Hibs with forfeiting the points if they refuse to play, the SPFL are willing to punish the innocent to appease the guilty. How long is Peter's shadow?

Celtic return to domestic action tonight when they play host to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership (KO: 7.45pm), and the Hoops will be determined to return to winning ways.

Following Christopher Jullien’s positive test for COVID-19, manager Neil Lennon, assistant John Kennedy and 13 first-team players have been required to self-isolate on a precautionary basis as required by the current regulations.

So taking charge of the team tonight will be first team coach, Gavin Strachan, supported by reserve team manager, Tommy McIntyre, and reserve team coach, Stephen McManus.

Callum McGregor will captain the side, while the SPFL Player of the Month for December, David Turnbull, starts in midfield, looking to add to the four goals he’s already netted for the Hoops.

Kick-off at Celtic Park is 7.45pm. For all the pre-match build-up and live updates, check out the Match Centre on the official Celtic website.

CELTIC: Hazard, Duffy, Soro, Turnbull, Rogic, Johnston, Frimpong, McGregor, Harper, Welsh, Laxalt.
Subs: Doohan, Taylor, Connell, Coffey, Okoflex, Henderson, Ralston, Hjelde, Karamoko
