A different day means a different message. Well, sixty(60) Spin Doctors competing for publicity, give each of them a turn.

In the last ten days we have had :

"Do Not Travel to Mull".

"No Day Trippers to Eigg, Muck, Rum and, Canna".

"Cal-Mac is reliable, special and heroic despite a litany of recent problems".

Today's message is : 'Only travel if Necessary".

The 36 year old MV Hebridean Isles has now spent spent ten days in dry dock and the inevitable decision to send it to Barrow on Furnace for repair has still to be taken. The good folks of Islay will have to find comfort in their peaty malts for a while longer. Two Cal-Mac ferries servicing the island remain hors de combat for who knows how long and the Scots Government message is, "Only Travel if Necessary".

Last evening at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh, Lesley Riddoch Chaired the Big Indy Debate. The panel consisted of half-a-dozen folks determined NOT to talk about Cal-mac and the islands. Mike Small, Robin McAlpine, Michelle Thomson, ...... etc were all entertained before and after by Amanda Brown. A YouTube songstress and NHS Physio, Amanda's biggest delight is a ditty entitled, 'the IRA will set you Free'. The perfect accompaniment to peaty malt for those told, "Only Travel if Necessary'.

Another day, another ferry cancelation.

Today, three Cal-Mac Ferries providing lifeline services have been cancelled. The aged and beleaguered fleet has been temporarily bolstered by the month long charter of the 40 year old Western Isles Cruises vessel, MV Larven. Today's breakdown is the second cancelation in ten days. Again, those travelling to Eigg, Rhum, Canna and, Muck are inconvenienced. Those dwelling on these islands are hit twice ie no day passengers at all because the other Ferry bringing folks on to the islands, is the MV Larven.

The Scottish Government's Transport Minister, Graeme Dey remains in Carnoustie saying nothing.

I wonder if the Green Party, now in official coalition with the SNP at Holyrood have anything to say? Perhaps, these constant cancelations are all part of, 'the Rewilding of the Islands plan'?
