Blog on Rangers v Arsenal centenary game in 1973

Recommended Posts

I attended the '73 Arsenal game.

It was a most humid evening, the official attendance was given as 80,000. The price of entry mirrored 1873, thus one shilling(as Decimalisation has just occurred - five new pence). Most in attendance suspected the crowd was touching 100,000.

I remember Parlane's spectacular goal and Alan Ball receiving dogs abuse throughout. He took it well and near the end of the game, took the ball into the corner and played keepie-up. He was cheered.
