No reward so far but a fine performance for a competitive away game at the start of August. We’re clearly the better team and could take them apart at Ibrox. Terrific first 45 for Itten.

A reasonable first half, if wasteful from good positions too often.

 

We do look the more likely side and have settled into the game after a fairly uncertain first 5mins or so.  However, our set-pieces have been woeful and our touches in and around the box poor which means we've not had any real clear-cut chances.

 

I think it's fairly obvious we're still lacking that extra bit of sharpness and match fitness which means moves are breaking down where, in a few weeks time, they'd work seamlessly.  With that in mind we need to be wary of Malmo, even if they're not offered a huge amount themselves so far.

 

An open game and an open tie.  Let's hope for some improved play this half and a goal to take back to Ibrox would be very nice, even if it no longer counts double.

Felt Itten did very well for the most part but, like a few others, was caught on his heels once or twice which caused dangerous moments to fizzle out.  But, all things considered, he's led the line well and allowed us a platform in the game.

All in all, we look the more promising team out there, creating more chances and sure have greater possession. We need to tell Kent, Arfield and Co. to hit at goal when they are within range. Too often they take an unnecessary touch or make an unnecessary lay off.

 

Itten works hard and shows his strengths, Wright is running his socks off, the defence rock solid,as is the central midfield.

 

EDIT: Itten needs someone closer to him to work with, as it stands, he usually has 2 or 3 guys against him.

 

Ref got stranger as the game went on, the Swedes were falling all over the place and he took nigh all of that, then ignores the blatant foul on Kent, then gives Itten a yellow for virtually nothing ...
