I wonder why these mostly young men, some apparently expensively dressed, don’t claim asylum in France a country so much more cultured, wealthy and European than failing, right wing, xenophobic Britain.

I spent a few years working with refugees. In all that time I only met one guy who could be described as a freeloader. Some will come here because they may have family already here. France has taken more than its fair share, as has Germany.

To the first safe country surely?

The only reason to trek across Europe to Britain is economic. No other.

They know about the benefits, they know about the NHS and they know how weak our Govts are at bending to the will of the liberal middle class whom these economic migrants will not be living amongst or affecting their jobs or services.

It's not rocket science.

You must stop falling for this Daily Mail narrative that all asylum seekers are freeloaders; there are plenty of ex-refugees staffing our heath services. And despite what you think, it's not that easy to get benefits or to get settled. You constantly get moved on by the Home Office from place to place without warning.

I said econimic migrants not freeloaders. Given that 90% of them are male and aged 16-50 and they have crossed the continent of Europe to get here they cannot be anything but economic migrants.

If not, why not stay in Iran, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, or France  which is often their route? What is so special about the UK if it isn't the benefits inc the NHS?

I can't answer your last question - I don't know what is so special about the UK. Most of the ones I have had dealings with set up as taxi drivers, doctors, nurses and manual professions - paying taxes into our system. If we want to get angry at someone I would say the smuggling gangs who exploit those who genuinely are fleeing terror. It's these profiteers who need dealing with not the victims. If one lesson is to be learned surely it is that it's about time we stopped interfering in other countries where we have no business.

'Fictional'? You seriously think vast numbers of people uproot themselves from cushy lifestyles to come to an even cushier one here? You really have no idea.

I doubt most economic migrants flooding into Britain have ever seen a war zone. Unless perhaps on the streets of Islamic Paris.

You really should get your emotions under control and take a look at reality. Britain is not a holiday camp, we have our own problems. If these people want a better life they might consider working to improve their own countries of birth.
