About a quarter of all cases are in vaccinated people so what is the point of a piece of paper that says you are vaccinated?

The vast majority of cases are in the under 40's (their voting cohort) so they are attempting to control the pandemic through hospitality and large events.  It will fail.  The schools are rife with it so more areas will be added to the requirements, all to do with pleasure and enjoyment.  Before we know it swing parks will be shut.

you encourage/force the u40's to get vaccinated and that benefits everyone.

it's really that simple. That is what they want here.

How people react to that is up to them.

Is that saying that those who have had the vaccinations are 27 times more likely to get Covid than those who have already had it?

If so, I'm not sure I follow the logic. Surely the whole thing is not to get it in the first place and not risk the potentially life threatening symptoms that happen in a minority of cases.

No. That headline figure refers to the likelihood of developing a symptomatic response.

I think this sums up the argument of the article:

"These data suggest that vaccinated individuals are still spreading the virus much like unvaccinated individuals."

Instead of going along with each silly imposition we should be challenging the government to justify them.

Will the government tell us how many lives this measure will save? Will the government also tell us how much this measure will cost to implement?

I have no idea if you are right or wrong about this point.

Can you prove it? Can you quantify the benefit in relation to any cost?

no it's a sham measure to force vaccinations.
