We move on. I have no bitterness towards Gerrard. He was brought to stop 10IAR & he did that.

Rangers need a known name to manage them. De Boer or GVB for me

Not DeBoer, please!

He's been an absolute failure everywhere he's been (apart from Ajax).

I also have a sneaky suspicion that Gio might be similar, but he's not been tested yet.

For me, that rules them both out, actually.

And I've got a similar view in respect of Rino.

Would Gerrard join Villa without Beale in the middle of a season though? Surely it would be too big a gamble for him to just go and make do with who they already have, with whom he has no relationship. Implementing his style of play would be very hard without his current team. If it was the summer, he would have an opportunity to get a new team together but he doesn't seem to have that. That's my worry.

But if Beale was offered the Rangers job, could he turn that down?

I think he would bite your arm off for it.

I think he'll go if Gerrard goes - I think its a tricky one to offer it to him anyway as you then get in to him putting a backroom team together from scratch and anybody we may want to bring in as his number 2 might have their own view on things or might not want to come in as an assistant. Is he ready to be a manager yet?

I don't think we'd offer it to him but I think he'll go with SG anyway so its a moot point.

  • Frankie changed the title to Gerrard to Aston Villa imminent

Barring any surprises now, I think it's a done deal - it's probably just a case of who goes with him across his backroom team.

Now up to Ross Wilson to facilitate Gerrard's successor in a timely fashion.
