Invasion in January, when gas demand in Europe is highest and no one can afford to pick a fight with Putin. Ukraine is sunk. It was a huge miscalculation by the pompous EU to extend a hand to Kiev and talk about NATO membership. Put your money on the Baltic states being next.

I don't expect Russia to do anything to the Baltic states.

I think that all three are in N.A.T.O. so a response would be guaranteed.

You're right about the U.S.A. and the E.U. though. As a man sows, so shall he reap.

Russia are our (Scotland's) closest competition for 9th spot in the UEFA national association rankings. In fact, they're just pipping us when all the bonus points for progression to knock-out stages are applied:

Here's hoping their actions towards the Ukraine are controversial enough to get them internationally ostracized and banned by UEFA.

The West seems to be repeat the mistakes of 1930's Britain. There isn't the leadership or preparation within the NATO bloc to do anything but impose sanctions if Russia invades Ukraine or the Baltic states. And Russia has Europe so tightly the throat with gas supplies that even then the prospect of a united front is close to zero.

With Biden in the White House and Germany only interested in counting its Euros, Russia and China can pretty much do whatever they want on their own borders.
