Interesting reporting from the BBC on this story...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-61701908

"India's diplomatic nightmare over controversial comments made by two senior officials of the country's ruling party about the Prophet Muhammad is showing no signs of ending.

The BBC is not repeating Ms Sharma's remarks as they are offensive in nature."

It seems Nupur Sharma referred to Muhammad's marriage to 6 year old.

If you google 'did Muhammad marry a 6 year old' you find a whole load of whataboutary and people (presumable Muslim and other religious zealots) trying to justify it by saying it was common at the time, or historians have it wrong and the girl may have been much older.

It really is depressing how people will defend things like this to the bitter end. Not just Muslims but other religious types. You still have the religious yeeha types in the US, male in thier mid 20's getting engaged to 14 year olds. Not on.

PS Islam and Catholics started cancel culture and created woke in the modern terms. We should have stamped it out then but never. Look what we have let it spiral into.

Without getting into a debate about judging figures from the past by today's standards or organised religion (both of which can get messy), my main issue here is the BBC's unwillingness to provide the reader with any information about the comments which sparked the story/diplomatic incident.

Are we not to be trusted?

Now don't be silly. The BBC can't be trusting riff raff. The public's role is to provide licence fee income, nothing more.

They don't want you to make up your own mind, they want to make it up for you. Same for all mainstream media outlets.

But other mainstream media outlets don't forcefully charge us for the privilege.

"The BBC has launched its first Green Sport Awards - to celebrate those people in sport helping to contribute to a more sustainable future.".

You couldn't have a more obvious example of the B.B.C. operating as a mindless propaganda engine.

The only way for people to deal with it is to stop paying the licence fee.

Caught a wee bit of the BBC's Glastonbury coverage on Sunday.  Great to know how important US Supreme Court decisions are here and also it's definitely Pride month (I was reminded thrice in under two hours).

Far too much reliance on nostalgia, when it comes to the musical acts on show.
