With gold prices so high, What do you see as the investment opportunities spawned by Russia invading Ukraine?

Maybe up my shares in British Gas or ponder looking at a company who makes body bags what with covid and the prospect of a war 😆

Fertiliser prices will go through the roof, Russia supplies a frightening percentage of key nitrate chemicals. This will push up agricultural commodity prices across the board. Expect mining companies to do well too, especially those with Rare Earth production. Gold is an obvious beneficiary but the price is so high already that I'd worry about returns. This might be a time to speculate in fracking operators or uranium miners.

Periods of social upheaval are always opportunities for investment. There's money to be made if you can make the right decisions.

10% of the world's wheat comes from Ukraine, I just heard.   So that'll be the price of a pan loaf going up even more.

... and Russia produces 13% so nearly a quarter of the worlds wheat production under threat as i'm sure imports of Russian wheat will be affected. But mainly it is gas and oil.

I heard one pundit describe the Russian economy as "one giant petrol station" and this is where the focus will probably be, although can Europe cope without Nordstream 2 let alone any disruption from Nordstream 1?
