The problem is money as always. Young guys can be instantly wealthy by leaving and going south. They may not make it football wise, they may not have made it with us but have the money.

If players show the correct attitude and quality, I'm confident they will be given opportunities.

At the moment yes, but one of them has already been sold to EPL for circa £16M, two of them promoted to 1rst team squad and all 3 of them have just extended their contracts.

Patterson might be the ultimate development success. We get a homegrown young player established in the national team and sell him for £16m to an EPL club .... without ever having to make space for him in our own team. I wish we could do that a couple of times every season.

Young players like Patterson, Lowry, King and Bassey is what makes money. Not many clubs will pay big bucks for guys like Kent and Morelos who are 26/7. Its the way the market goes. Makes sense to get these guys in the team and get them games.
