An end to animal farming

"The anger over the Trudeau government’s plan to have farmers use less fertilizer hasn’t boiled over in this country like it has across the Netherlands, but it’s getting there."

More humans, less farming.  How's that going to work out?

What's next - dig up the roads, live in caves, die at 35?

This feels like a grift tbh, that article states that farmers and agriculture were not consulted nor were any studies or pilots undertaken to asses the impact. They just pulled a % out of the air and decided to implement it.

Far from not wanting to do their part to reduce emissions, the group says they have already hit net zero emissions with farms in Canada absorbing more greenhouse gases than they create every year. The industry as a whole though paints a picture of a government not listening, with industry reps in several parts of the country saying they are pushing ahead without really engaging the people who will be affected by this.

Reminds me of this gem:

They are dubbed the “Kings of the Forest” and are regarded by Norwegians as their national symbol.

Now, though, scientists have claimed that because of their burping and farting, the placid moose is an eco killer. During a single year, according to new research, a full-grown moose expels – from both ends – the methane equivalent of 2,100kg of carbon dioxide emissions. That is said to be as destructive for the atmosphere as the emissions released by 13,000km (8,000 miles) of car travel.

“To put it into perspective, the return flight from Oslo to Santiago in Chile leaves a carbon footprint of 880 kilos,” said the biologist Reidar Andersen, a biologist. “Shoot a moose and you have saved the equivalent of two long-haul flights.”

Kill the moose, save the planet.

It is well established that the public will accept being made poor, by barking mad policy, if you scare them enough.

Covid was a great testing ground, that showed how easy it will be.

It's one of the fundamental reasons why you deny the public the right to own guns. Gun ownership is one of the main litmus tests of a free-ish society.
