Lyon have rejected an offer from Rangers for midfielder Jeremy Clement - but admit the player is set on a move to Ibrox.

Paul Le Guen has targeted the 21 year-old as he aims to build a title challenging team at Ibrox.

However, the French club's general manager Marino Faccioli has revealed a firm bid of £688,000 (1 million euros) has been rejected in the last 24 hours.

He told the Daily Record:"Yes Rangers have made an offer but it was not enough for us and we have rejected it.

"It is correct that the offer was for one million euros but we already have two or three better offers from some French clubs.

"We have not said 'yes' to anyone at this moment because it appears the player is interested in Rangers so we are waiting for them to come back to us with a better offer. Perhaps by Friday we will have some more news."

It is expected that Rangers will increase the offer for the player who is wanted by a host of French clubs including Monaco, Auxerre, Nice and Rennes.

Looks like we're going to get him either way i think.

Very Promising and sounds good that he only wants to come to us. Im sure we can stretch a bit more considering we paid 1.5 million for Mlandenovic.

Didnt need a reminder of that purchase Gribz. :( lol

I also think another bid will follow, if the player wants to come to us then it seems it is just down to a question of how much we will have to pay but ultimatley, he is ours if we want him.

Le Guen wants him and he wants to work with Le Guen so cant see this not happening.

apparently troyes tabled an even lower bid than us , wonder what their manager was thinking

Sounds a bit like Eck and Murray, putting in an offer they know will be rejected to keep the fans happy.:D
