Match Preview Scottish Cup Final: Celtic v Rangers
Rousseau replied to compo's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm not claiming it's a new idea. Like all tactical styles it's based on what has gone before: Guardiola's style is based on the ideas of Cruyff and Michels, which was based on the Hungarian golden team, which in turn was based on the early Scottish passing game. These ideas are always tweaked and reshaped, though; different enough. -
You mean like the Charltons, or the de Boers? Or Jim Forrest and Alex Willoughby? Now you are talking: imagine we had Brian and Michael in the starting XI.....

You quoted it before I could correct my mistake. It's 'relationism'. -

We'll, we had that, then the Italian Catenaccio style shut them down. Nothing better than a tricky winger, though. -
One General Relativity, and the other Special Relativity, I take it. Which one is which? (Asking for a hipster who failed the Physics paper at Largs.)

What's needed is wee wingers with skill like Henderson or a wee jinky

I don't disagree. I do think the game is becoming saturated with teams that play positional play a la Guardiola. There will always be a dominant style; that's happened for over a century. However, we have seen a reaction against that style with the geggenpressing style and now the relationism of Fluminense's Diniz and Malmo's Rydstrom. It will take a while for the latter style to spread. -
Bizarre decision tbh. If this was the Netherlands or the Austrian Bundesliga then I could understand giving him the can, but you're never ever going to win the Premier league when your squad age is 22. You won't see the best of this Chelsea squad for another 2 or 3 seasons if conventions around footballing maturity are true.

A variation on the old John Greig theme.

Mental. Fergie would be turning in his directors box.

Have the club explicitly come out and spoke about why we recruit so heavily from Belgium? For me we're 15 years too late in this regard. -
For a united one nil win you can get 18/1

Antwerp have had some success recently, not against it. -

An experienced Dutch assistant manager/coach. I don't know much about him. Anyone's better than Alex Rae! -
Saw someone mention that Utd were 8/1 for the win. Predict that to someone in 2008 and they'd have brought back lobotomy.
