  1. Past hour
  2. Talking mesmerist above reminded me of Willie Hamilton, Hearts then Hibs.
  3. Smith - apart from Henderson best right winger I ever saw. Matured into a style of play ahead of his time in the same way as Cooper. Johnstone - only saw him second time round at Hibs. Mesmerist. Regret I never saw the Five together. Reilly - was there a better scorer of goals? McCoist. Turnbull - dynamo. Ormond - auld widden legs. But he outlasted the rest.
  4. Bien sur. (It was merely a discussion about playing styles, not necessarily pertaining to Rangers, instigated by @Gonzo79 - blame him.)
  5. Can we maybe walk before we can run, and just beat the fucking sellik?
  6. Some papers and television pundits call players legends after one decent season but these blokes were special.
  7. Today
  8. Fully agree. But there's something to be said for the club being shit scared of losing his 'brand' (idk how else to put it). They want to milk his goal scoring record for everything it's worth. They're not stupid enough to not know that he's probably the only player post 2012 that's in with a sniff of getting into teams before then. And they don't want to lose that.
  9. Interesting to hear the manager talking about some players not being fit enough to play two or three games in a week I wonder what kind of fitness regime he intends to bring in in the future.
  10. There's no chance Tav won't start, so any discussions about it are largely irrelevant.
  11. Tbf I've always given the manager the benefit of the doubt for having Sterling at RW to help cover Tav. But then surely you're just sacrificing an attacker in that case? If he's that much of an issue drop him. Which he is, and he should be. My team: Butland Sterling Balogun Davies Fraser Raskin Diomande McCausland Cantwell Silva Dessers Points of Contention: Tav needs dropped. Self explanatory. Balogun comes in if fit. Borna and Celtic, enough said. Silva actually did well at Sharkhead imo and deserves a start.
  12. Why would he say that? if you really think Tav is the weakest link then it's you who has the problem!. Tav is the best RB in the league!.
  13. Aberdeen are being linked with McCrorie. Best to part ways but I'd put in a buy-back clause.
  14. I dont think he has that option, the need is greater for Sterling at LB or in midfield.
  15. I wonder if the manager has the balls to say Tav you are the weakest link goodbye and play Sterling in that position .
  16. Yes! Brother! We must fight back against these dinosaurs! Together!
  17. The name's not important. What is important is that it is a reaction against the strict positional play of Guardiola.
  18. If anyone is interested go and watch the CWC final between City and Fluminense, it'll give you an idea of what the ideal is like. Tbh I thought they were great to watch that game, albeit no poke.
  19. Tbf I've heard of relationism and Fluminese using it. I'm pretty sure Guardiola and Madrid incorporate aspects of it into their game too. Although Guardiola is still more positional than relationist. I'll link an article on it: https://gameinsight.sport/relationist-football-a-modern-approach/
  20. 'Relationism' is it? It sounds like a woke neologism for incest, and that particular, peculiar, peccadillo is, sadly, nothing new. But, for the avoidance of doubt: Merely because no cu nt on this forum, other than the Douanier, has heard of 'relationism', we may not assume that it is a 'New Thang'.
  21. I'm not claiming it's a new idea. Like all tactical styles it's based on what has gone before: Guardiola's style is based on the ideas of Cruyff and Michels, which was based on the Hungarian golden team, which in turn was based on the early Scottish passing game. These ideas are always tweaked and reshaped, though; different enough.
  22. You mean like the Charltons, or the de Boers? Or Jim Forrest and Alex Willoughby? Now you are talking: imagine we had Brian and Michael in the starting XI.....
  23. You quoted it before I could correct my mistake. It's 'relationism'.
  24. We'll, we had that, then the Italian Catenaccio style shut them down. Nothing better than a tricky winger, though.
