  1. How was probably within our budget last summer, if we hadn't spunked £12m on Lammers, Dessers, Cifuentes etc.

  2. It's being reported that some clubs may not have signed the letter, but agree with its content. It's also being rumoured that the relationship between SPFL and SFA is rather frosty due to the Rangers v Cinch row / outcome

  3. You are correct, only Rangers voted against the continuing governance of Neil Doncaster and Murdoch MacLennan. When Rangers resisted, the then Sellik TV pundit, Michael Stewart utilised his platform on BBC Radio Scotland to participate in a debate and conclude : "I do not understand Rangers' criticisms of Neil Doncaster and Murdoch MacLennan, in this issue Neil and Murdoch are the good guys". Those were the last words uttered on the issue, no dissension as team line ups were then broadcast for that Saturday's games. It was the way Peter wanted it and Michael took great delight in being the very epitome of the establishment man. At that time in an effort to support Michael's support for Neil and Murdoch, RAB Cosgrove's contribution to Off the Ball's topic, 'pleasant surprises' was thus : Folks will be surprised to hear that for a period of just over a year I worked for Cannel 4 in a building next to the newspaper where Murdoch MacClennan was CEO. He had a chauffeur driven car and would regularly give me a lift home to my flat just south of the river. He was a most pleasant man with a sound knowledge of Scottish football. You see how the Scottish football establishment works, it is a web with Peter at it's very centre. Doncaster, MacLennan, ............ Stewart and Cosgrove; all willing lackeys.

  5. The Herald reporting that Aberdeen were the one club who had input, and they've put their name to this letter. Looks like as well as doctoring (allegedly) they have somehow misrepresented what input Aberdeen gave them. There are some serious accusations in that letter and thankfully, it appears other clubs have woken up and are smelling the coffee! Worth noting that Cormack is a longstanding critic of the SPFL.

  6. Agree. When does Sterling's red get upheld by the corrupt cabal? We'll still win the league despite them

  7. Now referees are to hand out BLUE cards: Football fans left baffled by yet another bizarre rule change just days after Premier League chief admitted VAR system needs fixing New sin-bin protocols could be tested in FA Cup and Women's FA Cup matches Yellow and red cards were first introduced to the game at the 1970 World Cup CHRIS SUTTON: Erik ten Hag is still on trial. He needs more than gradual improvement this season to keep his job - It's All Kicking Off podcast By TUM BALOGUN FOR MAILONLINE PUBLISHED: 15:04, 8 February 2024 | UPDATED: 19:39, 8 February 2024 e-mail 1.8kshares 1.6k View comments Football fans, Premier League managers and former players have been left furious by the sport's rulemakers' decision to introduce a 'blue card' to trial ten minute sin-bins, with some saying they game is finished. Arsenal legend Paul Merson blasted the idea as a 'waste of time' saying it will kill the game and create the 'most boring football ever'. Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, Everton's Sean Dyche, and Crystal Palace's Roy Hodgson are among the Premier League managers to have previously voiced their opposition to 'blue cards'. While fans have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to air their anger accusing the 'rich' of 'stealing our beautiful game' and being left baffled by the pointless move. It'll add further irritation to fans and some managers who are already annoyed by the the governing body's struggles and use of VAR, with Premier League chief Tony Scholes admitting yesterday the technology still needs fixing five years on since it was first introduced. The International Football Association Board is set to announce the move on Friday, according to The Telegraph, which would allow referees to send players off for ten minutes for dissent and cynical fouls.

  9. Incredible Doncaster has lasted so long in his position at the SPFL and SPL before that. His record is abysmal. He seems to keep such a low profile nowadays. McLennan too

  10. Probably the same folk that did Da Luciano's, Vincent Marini's place and Jennifer McLeish's car. I'm not convinced it's strictly football related.

  11. The noose around the McLennan and Doncaster nexus of influence is tightening. The response from the usual suspects will be illuminating. At least they can't just say: its just that Rangers lot moaning

  22. Said it numerous times but Miovski is a far better option than Shankland. I can't believe the clamour for Shankland and fans overlooking Miovski. However, your assumption is correct, he'll be priced out of our budget

  23. Being in the minority doesn’t make you wrong. I keep waiting for MacCausland to catch fire, which I expect him to eventually. At the moment he’s far too reluctant to take on his defender on the outside and too many of his crosses have no end product. Sure he shows promise but by and large that’s all.

  24. I think that’s debatable. 1 We both play Hearts, Celtic away. 2 We both play Hibs, Celtic away. 3 We both play Motherwell, Celtic away. 4 We both play St J, us away. 5 We both play Kilmarnock, us away. 6 We both play Dundee, us away. 7 We play RC at home, they play Livi away. I would prefer our set of fixtures.

  27. The best performance of the weekend for me was Manchester United playing like a team that knew what they were doing and the bonus of a 18,19 and a 21 year old all playing exceptionally well .

  28. Watched some of the games this weekend and some shock results that's why I'd love to see our cup throw in the premier teams right from the first games might give us Celtic v Auchinleck or Rangers v Petershill.

  31. Liverpool will win the tournament, Manchester United an outside bet. The meaning of this is that Arsenal will cruise to victory this evening and United might be struggling at Wigan.
