I agree. Last season's Celtic side wouldn't have dropped the points they have this season. They were on 73 points at this stage last season, on 62 this season. Surprisingly we're on exactly the same points after 26 matches that we were last season, 64. There is an argument that this season's Rangers side isn't as strong as last season's side, certainly we've fewer striking options, our defence is pretty much the same but we've a better keeper. That shouldn't take away from what Clement has achieved results and performance wise though, he's taken a side lacking direction and, I'd say, ability, and turned them into a side much better than the sum of its parts.3 points

At least Sunderland only put up with him for nine weeks. If only Rangers had acted with similar speed.3 points

In bursts, the team is playing football not seen since the Advocaat years. Even when Beale’s sides won it was turgid stuff.2 points

He’s steadied the buffs and is taking us in the right direction we’re top of the tree but can we still be top at the seasons end , I do hope so .2 points

Reference John Collins. John Collins and his Agent travelled to Ibrox and the signing had been agreed. He received a telephone call from his old man pleading not to sign, Collins was upset and asked to postpone for overnight further thought.2 points

The two cup matches versus that lot told us a lot about Beale. I still can't get over his starting XI for the LC semi.2 points

We drew at home with Celtic, won every other league game. There would have been a riot if we'd sacked him after his first 9 games.2 points

Some of the diving and play-acting in football is truly embarrassing. I get sometimes you have to go over to get the foul but some of it is unbelievable.2 points

An absolutely massive two games coming up now against two in-form opponents who are 3rd & 4th in the table. If we can win both we stay at least 2 clear with 10 to play and we have 4 out of 5 fixtures before the split that are, on paper and current form, easier. Of course after these 2 we have Europa and Scottish cup ties as well so it’s going to be important to plan ahead with rotation, avoid further injuries, and don’t allow the momentum to shift.2 points

Too bad for Beale. I hope he goes back to being a coach. I'm not sure why Sunderland have high expectations though.1 point

Sorta agree but the 3....0 against them last season should have been a springboard for the season to come. Sadly though.1 point

His first nine games and indeed the whole of last season is fairly irrelevant, perhaps apart from his two defeats to Celtic at Hampden. It was his summer reconstruction of the playing squad that revealed his inadequacy, quickly confirmed as the season started. There was little justification waiting until the beginning of October to sack him.1 point

All hypothetical but given what PC has achieved, we might currently be in a better position. Points wise Celtic have regressed from this point last season and we are (I think) 3 points better off.1 point

A few more points clear of the scum. Any chairman with ambition won't touch Beale now. He is clearly a useless manager.1 point

We dont need to bother about homegrown anymore , the EU deemed these illegal at the last set of hearings , as far as Im aware its gone. Royal Antwerp appealed to the EU court of justice and its going through just now.1 point

Correct. They got rid of a decent manager and hired Beale. Their business management has been bad for forty years at least as I mentioned but their new model is insane. The owner doesn’t care about league success nor about entertaining football. He wants to trawl the world for young unheard of players in the hope of finding one to sell at daft money. Mowbray told him this wasn’t a great idea. My reference to “resources” above was to “fan resources”. Aberdeen and Hearts don’t get 30,000 home attendances in the top tier let alone the second. If I were one of the 30,000 I’d be pretty miffed with the business model.1 point

Like what? They are a championship club at best and demanding managers get sacked every other week ain't gonna get them far. Maybe the problem isn't the managers they hire, maybe the issues are deeper rooted?1 point

Yeah, I was quite shocked he got that job after the mess he made up here. Surely now it's obvious he's not a manager.1 point

Only he wasn't in the least bit consistent yesterday. I thought there were only three real candidates - Cantwell, Souttar and Tavernier. I voted for Cantwell as pretty much the only real spark of creativity.1 point

Just reading that was Tav's 100th league goal for us today (he has 14 against Aberdeen). That means 20 European goals. The more you analyse hos goal-scoring recored, the more impressive it becomes.1 point

Thanks. Was off the top of my head. Saw Scott before Willie but Ralphie was in that team.1 point
