  1. Before ra Sellik kicked a ball in their first game against a Rangers xi(the Swifts), ground had been purchased and two grand stands erected, a wooden cycling track had been laid, and an exhibition game was played between Hibs and Renton on the ground. Ra Sellik promptly signed the better halves of both sides; condemning the original Hibees into oblivion and Renton to a junior football future. The four teenagers founding Rangers played their games on a tidal flood plain. It took Rangers first eleven three months to gather sufficient pennies to purchase a second hand football from Queens Park. The price was seven shillings and sixpence(37.5 pence post decimal). Truly, Collymore is a clown.

  2. Mayhem and carnage in the West of Scotland after matches against celtic. You must remember it from a few years ago. They were all on about it. Chief Constables, Jack McConnell, Salmond, the toff Liberal guy, Gorrie, Chick Young, NBM and all the rest of the hand-wringers, even surgeons from A&E departments. Streets running with blood. Domestic violence. Hospitals over burdened. You don’t hear so much these days. What’s changed? Are all the initiatives and re-education programmes bearing fruit? Or is it just that Rangers were winning then and celtic are winning now?

  3. It's definitely coming from Gersnet. On my iPhone I get no ads at all anywhere, apart from Gersnet over the past couple of days.

  4. no I prefer a forum like this where there are Rangers supporters

  5. Ach! lighten up guys, it's all mainly bullshit made up rumours, but it generates a wee bit of discussion/interest while we wait for the fitba to start!

  6. Yes and equally it would be disingenuous to pretend that the club and many of the support didn't have some of the political and/or religious beliefs we are talking about. It's fairly simple really and it comes down to realism and mutual respect. I'm not from the West of Scotland and growing up a first generation Rangers fan in Edinburgh, my attention was always directed at the football. I went to games and sang songs but wasn't really aware of the history behind it until further down the track and that co-incided with joining the Marines and a couple of tours of N.I., so it dovetailed quite nicely. As I've got older my politcs and my football are very seperate and I wouldn't shape my politics because of the football team I support. To me, that would be plain silly but for those who grew up and were formed closer to Ibrox and/or within a Rangers supporting family, then you can understand their politics, etc.

  7. Or you can live in the modern world and just support your football team.

  9. It's in The Sun. As such, it's not embarrassing at all because it's just made up bollocks by wannabe journalists.

  10. As soon as we start beating them again, the sectarianism card will get played by the usual suspects. It's so predictable.

  11. The number 34 used to be the bus you'd catch from Lothian Road (Edinburgh) to take you down to the dug racing at Powderhall. Powderhall has long since gone, as is the best part of James Collins career. --------------------- Edit...according to soccerway stats. / recent injuries Hamstring 11/03/18 12/05/18 Hamstring 21/03/18 30/04/18 Hamstring 01/03/18 09/03/18 Calf Muscle Strain 27/12/17 12/01/18 Ankle/Foot Injury 17/09/17 13/12/17 Knock 23/05/17 31/05/17 League minutes played (Max 38x90 = 3420) 12/13....... 2496 13/14.......1899 14/15.......1879 15/16.......1439 16/17.......1653 17/18.......1050

  12. Folks, Most of you will have been bombarded with emails recently about the new GDPR laws in the EU. This forum is already compliant in terms of your registration but we also need your permission cookie-wise for our advertising partner on here and our main site so you'll receive an opt-in to review their obligations and requests there. The odd small issue aside with the occasional ad, our partner is very good and reliable on such issues so as much as it's your choice what purposes you want to approve, I'd like to put your mind at res in that regard. Finally, apologies for the green colour in the pop up but that's their branding...

  13. I'm perfectly at ease if we don't qualify. It should be fairly low on our priorities for next season.

  14. Aye but sometimes it's quite enjoyable being the grumpy git. I've met a few famous people and have never felt the need to act like a wee lassie.

  15. I think you need to adjust your thinking mate if you think supporting Rangers is about fighting anti-British and the IRA. I would say you need to find another organisation.

  16. Agree that he was onside but even if off ref played game on as keeper had ball in hand so IMO it was a new phase of play and keeper made a right "clanger"

  17. The Liverpool players not going back to speak to the keeper immediately after the whistle tells you a lot about modern football.

  18. I'm too lazy and busy to contribute plus I think everyone has enough of my ramblings as it is. I think a Gersnet podcast featuring me and DB could be quite entertaining though. Jokes apart, I will do a preview one of these days. We need to start playing decent football first though or it will be horrendously negative.

  19. Definitely wouldn't want a pay wall, but you could open yourself up to donations. For me, this is not just an extremely well run site with a good balance of members, but it's literally the only choice for a Rangers forum. We all know what the other ones are like. However, ads have been no issue until this recent occurrence, which is obviously a glitch.

  20. "50%" and their restriction to only three protestants was percentage-wise more exclusionary. They greeted Walters with bananas They were founded to stop their kids eating soup from Kirk charity. Our founders had nothing of what he says in mind So - wrong in all aspects, Stan. Every claim = wrong. pity he can't be sued for it

  23. Afraid not. I tried to get that info last night and it wasn’t forthcoming, the club guy did say that they thought the design was really nice. The other Academy guy hasn’t seen, nor has been allowed to see, the new kit

  24. I had just turned 18 and remember being distraught in the West enclosure at the end of CSKA game. We were effectively finished when Hateley got sent off v Brugge at Ibrox. The big man was unplayable that year.

  25. Im not sure this is from Gersnet ads mate. Frankie has reported to them, but the type of ads they have on our site shouldn't be able to do that. I would need to look more into

  28. when I met Colin Stein I said "I want to thank you for the years of entertainment you gave us and wanted you to know how much we appreciated it "...he turned to the person sitting beside him and said I think in amazement "are you listening to this ?".....I thought he'd be so used to that sort of thing that he wouldn't turn a hair (not that he could these days mind you)

  31. The last few days I've been getting plagued by fake Amazon pop-up ads, when browsing Gersnet on my phone - I think a couple of other users mentioned it on the main forum. They redirect me to a page that can't be backed out of - the only option is to close the browser. Is it something admin can report or block? I'll attach a screenshot... Thanks.

  32. I can only say it is about Rangers for me. Yes I hate the IRA but that is not what Rangers is about for me.

  33. When Rangers becomes purely about football, there will be nothing left to stand against Celtc FC and their anti-British, terrorist loving filth dominating Scottish football. Why do you think they hate us and obsess about us so much, cos it has little to do with football.

  34. I am not denying anything. Bill, times change. people change. I remember supporters saying they would burn their scarf's if we ever signed a catholic. A few may have but it was minimal. When you have 40.000 season ticket holders you are going to have mixed idea's. You have yours the same as the other 40.000. It doesn't make you right and them wrong. For me the important thing is Rangers Football Club. It is that institution that I love. I think more and more people support Rangers rather than Politics. In fact you may say football is becoming more important than politics for many people.

  35. Most club stalwarts were proud Scots and Brits, judging by what we can see and read. Union Flags and pictures of the Queen have always been part of the furniture (I'm not much of a Royalist, for the record). People can deny it all they want but there's something undoubtedly British about Rangers FC.

  36. As far as I know being a part of Britain was not a part of Rangers history at any time. It was with the arrival of Irish that some supporters linked it but as far as I know the club have never had any political slant for or against

  37. Most of the time on these forums we enjoy a great debate and argument about all things Rangers. Now and again however there's an element of our support that surfaces which in my opinion is distasteful and embarrassing. I suppose this element exists in society, and as we've discussed on here before, our support is largely representative of the wider society. It therefore shouldn't be a surprise that we see a representative sample of that in some postings on here. Thankfully, this forum seems to be subjected to it far less than others, which for me is a good thing.

  38. We could do relatively well and still not make the group stages. I look at some of the seeded teams further into the qualifiers..... Sevilla Besiktas AZ Alkmaar Maccabi Tel-Aviv RB Leipzig Partizan Belgrade Burnley Atalanta Zenit Feyenoord Bordeaux Olympiakos, etc. .... and just think it's asking a lot to turn things round so quickly and dispatch that level of team.

  44. I don't think SR is the man for such 'conflict' and from the outside looking-in, it's seemed obvious for a longtime that the club had a need for a hardnosed and competent CEO.
