  1. This is essentially just one more entry in a growing catalogue of deniable truths that characterise 21st century Scotland. Truths that everyone understands but few willingly admit because they are as unacceptable as they are deniable 1. That Celtic FC has been a safe harbour for paedophiles for many years. 2. That the criminal goings on at Celtic have been widely known for as many years but swept under a carpet of denial and intimidation. 3. That even in this age of enlightenment there remains a cohesive communal identity in certain parts of Scottish society that is built around common Irish ancestry and shared catholicism, which remains loyal to broad concepts like Irish republicanism and associated anti-British sentiment. 4. That the bond between Celtic FC and the Irish catholic community is profound and long-established. 5. That the SNP has long courted this Irish catholic community and finally wrested it from its previous home at Scottish Labour. 6. That the SNP came to power only after it secured the support of the Irish catholic community and is entirely dependent upon them for its political future. 7. That the SNP will tolerate and suppress exposure of any crime, any shame, at any price, if it protects or bolsters its relationship with the Irish catholic bloc in Scotland. 8. That the SNP and therefore the governance of Scotland is dependant upon, and in thrall to, a bloc of voters whose allegiance is routinely traded in return for cover-ups, partial treatment, financial advantage, even the sympathetic interpretation of legislation.

  2. Quite simple. If someone is given a lifetime ban, it could be part of a suspended sentence. Then, if they're found at a game at any stage they go straight to prison. Either that or bring back the death penalty. Anyone that has a habit of getting into bother at football (or anywhere else) is NOT a fairly normal member of society, and does not deserve to have a season ticket.

  3. The TP rules and regulations are clear, and he broke them. However, that's what then resulted in him being ordered by the TP to perform a number of actions. It's then equally clear that they did move the goalposts, and that's what the contempt issue relates to. He can have no complaints about punishment for breaching TP rules, but has every right to fight the ludicrous contempt claim. The TP reps should be carpeted for making a mess of the way they've handled it. I don't know if he will win his case or not, but I'd be fighting this if I was him.

  4. If you decide to run for PM or FM with policies like that, I'll vote for you John! ?? I understand your point about the things we do as youngsters, but surely there should be no tolerance for this at games. Where are the consequences, and is that not a prime reason for this behaviour being perpetuated? I also noted Gonzo's subsequent post about ignoring coin throwing if done by another bear. I'm shaking my head in disbelief at that. I'd hope any real supporter of the club, and it's image, would want to remove such morons before the Rangers brand is tarnished. Are we really so tribal that we will tolerate any behaviour if perpetrated by someone who just happens to follow the same team as us? Where do you draw the line? That lot across the city didn't appear to have a line, but I'd hope we'd be different.

  5. I'm with you on the death penalty Gaffer, but only for people who don't clean up after their dogs. As for your second point I know what you're saying, however, I don't entirely agree. As a teenager 'trouble' at football matches was something of a right of passage. I'm not advocating it as a lifestyle choice now, or excusing it then, but I knew quite a few 16 year olds who enjoyed a bit of agro on a Saturday afternoon, indeed it was all part of the football experience for them. Most of them grew out of it. They got jobs or married or the testosterone coursing through them found other outlets. Granted I'm going back to the 1980s, but I think people can make mistakes or misjudgements at that age and still mature into 'normal' adults. I often give thanks that social media didn't exist when I was a teenager, so all my many mistakes and misadventures are unrecorded and long forgotten, rather than being published for the world to see in perpetuity.

  6. I think you and I both read that as him being a director of those organisations. I think what the guys are suggesting is that he is a film director (or similar), which is quite different. Either way, his services should be no longer required.

  7. The Ibrox side aren't happy but wanted to make clear they don't believe Willie Collum is biased against their club. Rangers Rangers are refusing to back down in their battle with the SFA over the Daniel Candeias red card saga. The club have written to the governing body expressing their anger at Willie Collum’s explanation of his decision to send off the player against St Mirren. And Rangers will continue to fight for a change to the rules which currently mean they have no right to appeal the player’s booking. The club were furious after the SFA took the unusual step of detailing Collum’s reasons for issuing the second yellow to Candeias. Hampden officials revealed on Wednesday that Candeias was carded for goading St Mirren star Anton Ferdinand by blowing kisses at him while celebrating Alfredo Morelos’ injury time clincher in the 2-0 win. But Rangers insist Collum couldn’t possibly have seen the player making a gesture towards Ferdinand but are at pains to point out they don’t believe the referee is biased against the club. The Ibrox club claim the ‘underlying issues’ noted in the club’s original statement on the matter referred to Collum impetuousness and general competence. A Rangers spokesman said: “I can confirm that Rangers has sent a formal letter of complaint about the referee’s performance.” Insiders at Hampden claim senior members of the SFA hierarchy are in agreement with Rangers and their stance over the row. Compliance officer Claire Whyte wrote to Rangers dismissing their complaints about Collum and Record Sport understands the contents of the letter have angered certain senior figures at Ibrox. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-refuse-back-down-sfa-13596975?2

  10. Rangers can do this alone though. There's plenty of video evidence to prove that the ref couldn't have seen Candeias make any gesture. In that case, he was either advised by the linesman, or he just made it up to disguise a terrible mistake. I didn't see any communication with the linesman so it can only be the latter. Either way, Rangers don't need support from anyone else to get justice here. All they need is the desire and guts to take it further. Something tells me we are in the mood for getting some justice. Watch this space.

  12. Resign from where? He's not employed by the BBC, or any other TV station, he's a freelance director and film maker. He's basically self-employed, this will have no bearing at all on his employment prospects, indeed it'll probably guarantee him commissions from Channel 4. He's a perfect example of the middle-class, politically engaged, professional Celtic fan, conflating apparently progressive issues with football and left of centre ideology. It's such pretentious bullshit. As the screengrabs show the lack of self awareness and simple hatred of 'others' confirm he's as intolerant and narrow minded as any other bigot you're likely to meet.
