But where was the story leaked from ?? We don't know do we ? So that being said to accuse PLG of making it public is a bit premature.
-
How do you KNOW it was PLG's decision to leave ????? When they say "by mutual consent" it usually means there is a story behind it but for the sake of all concerned they aren't saying what it is. We still do not know that it was PLG's decision to leave, maybe never will !
-
Pretty sure I heard rumblings of him undermining Eck too. I am likely wrong though
-
Also turned his back on the fans that ASKED him to LEAVE......... Should edit this in that what I am saying is that many fans wanted him to go too and tried to push him out the door so it is unfair to say he turned his back on the fans...
-
Fair enough - BUT..... every single player getting paid the wages they do should have personal pride in doing their best ALL the time. All I am saying is these things shouldn't NEED to be taught, they should be inherent in "professionals" !
-
Privately ? Do we know yet who leaked the story to the press ?
-
Eck couldn't deal with it so not any other manager would. And who is to say PLG couldn't ? He TRIED to, otherwise he wouldn't have stripped him of the captaincy, or am I being too simplistic in my view - he tried to control it by doing what he felt best which was by taking what he felt to be a disruptive influence and rooting it out.
-
Just thinking... dangerous for me !! But why is it we see the need for people to come in and "teach" the players what it means to play for Rangers ? EVERY player that gets paid a wage from ANY club should have the professionalism to give their all EVERY time they step out onto the pitch. Fight and determination are not traits that are demanded from only Rangers - they should be expected at every club. So why do we need ex-players to teach them these things ?
-
NO THANKS to Souness. I would like to see either Billy Davies or Burley given a chance.
-
It maybe isn't Barry's fault. But why if PLG has been tapped for PSG would he try to engineer his way out the door by sacking the captain rather than just telling DM it isn't working out and he wants to leave ?
-
I hope he doesn't get booed. He loves the club as much as we do and whether you agree with what has happened recently and whether you think that he was involved in PLG leaving makes no difference. We are a club in turmoil and the last thing we need is to round on anyone at the club.
-
Many fans were supportive of BF when PLG dropped him so they no doubt still will be.
-
And that is the thing - this DOES seem to have been going on for 2 years now - coincidence that it has been since BF came back from Blackburn ?? Probably. But the position remains that there has obviously been something amiss in the dressing room which now TWO managers have not been able to control. Something has to be done, but will it ? And if it is still there with the next manager how long does he last ? How soon before we become the next Hearts ?
-
Regarding the enthusiasm that may just be his nature. His results suggest that someone else could definitely do better - but I still think we have the players to be winning games... but will they step up to the plate and show some fight and determination ? I also was hoping that in PLG we would be looking at the long-term and not shrot-term - now it seems we are looking at short-term.
-
Do they have the tactical nous though ? Sometimes we want our favourites at the club and at times so do I - but is there an element of a throwback to the 9IAR days when we ask this ????
-
Surely not in the top 5 ???????? EPL Serie A La Liga Bundesliga Ligue 1 Surely they all beat it...... not sure though
-
Right... but PLG also said he KNEW he would get that type of reaction as Barry was so popular so he knew what he was going to face. We will no doubt get the "he was working his ticket" brigade - maybe he was, who knows ? Timing is as poor as it could be though - and if he HAS been trying to get out since September (as has been suggested) then that, at least to me, is more of an indication as to the sorry state our club is in than PLG's mindset !
-
There were rumblings he was dicking Eck around too - I can't confirm so it is only speculation. Yes he does have Rangers in the heart - however, the manager makes the playing decisions, not the players. I don't want Ferguson to leave - but given the recent developments would you not agree that this looks like player power has seen the manager leave (however DM sugar coats it) ? And that, in my opinion, sends the wrong signals to potential managers.
-
Br1ndy, read what I posted again. There is NOTHING wrong with taking a manager from Derby. Someone said that they (Billy Davies or George Burley) would turn US down - my statement was more along the lines of "has our great club fallen so far that these managers would turn us down in favour of championship teams" ??
-
I wouldn't mind seeing Burley given a go.
-
I think you miss my point - my point is certainly NOT aimed at either of those 2 managers - I think BOTH have the credentials to do well with us. My point was about the standing of our club.
-
I don't dispute that - and I also am not saying that Billy Davies or Burley would do a good job for us, I think both could and would. What I am saying is that surely, surely Rangers is a club that many managers, these 2 included, should be aspiring to ?
-
Yes we are. And everyone can see it..... can SIR David Murray see it though - and does he have the testicular fortitude to try to resolve it ? I have my doubts
-
To take a CammyF phrase..... "is this how far our expectations have fallen" When managers of Championship sides like Derby and Southampton are being mooted as turning us down it is a sad day for our club !
