PLG says he will make his decision on Ricksen when they get back from SA. From teamtalk The midfielder was sent home from the club's pre-season training camp after an incident involving a flight attendant on board the plane to Johannesburg on Sunday. The 29-year-old has subsequently checked himself into the Sporting Chance Clinic for treatment on anger management issues. Ricksen has already admitted he fears his Ibrox career is over following the incident. But the former Lyon boss will wait until his return to Glasgow on Monday before making any further decision on the Dutchman. Le Guen said: "I took the decision and it was my responsibility to do so. It was not a whim on my part. "It was a difficult decision to make, but we will see what happens when we get back to Glasgow." However, Le Guen has warned that discipline at the club will be a major feature of his tenure after succeeding Alex McLeish. He added: "It is a normal way for the coach to go. I just want to establish my rules. "The players must understand they must do as I want them to do while I am at the club. "But it is very simple and there is nothing extraordinary about what I have asked of the team. There is nothing special. "They simply have to apply the rules that are laid down and there will be no problems." Meanwhile, the Rangers boss is turning his attentions towards the rest of the South Africa tour. The Light Blues comfortably defeated a Jomo Select team on Tuesday with a 4-0 win courtesy of a Charlie Adam hat-trick and a Kris Boyd strike. Rangers will now face Jomo Cosmos on Friday evening in Bloemfontein in the second match of the trip. But, while the Ibrox boss is still learning about his new players, he is also enjoying the experience of South African football. Le Guen added: "I don't know much about South African football here, but I know there are some great players and I remember watching the national team play France at the World Cup in 1998. "I am looking forward to learning about their football in our two matches." Le Guen's assistant Yves Colleu believes the wins over Linfield and Jomo Select have already provided enough information to hint at a possible starting line-up for the SPL opener at Motherwell on July 30. But he maintains there is still plenty of scope for any player to push for a place in the tour games before returning for matches against Middlesbrough and Bolton. Colleu told the club's official website: "These games will be important for us. "I think we will see the best team spending more time together and it will be interesting to see how these two matches develop. "We have a good idea now of our team for the new season. But it is always interesting to see the improvement day after day, so we will see what happens."

Here you go Cammy PLG Relishing African Challenge RANGERS manager Paul Le Guen and Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood helped officially launch the Jomo Cosmos International Tour today at the Emperor's Palace complex in Johannesburg. Both managers are relishing the matches against South African oppositon on Friday and Sunday, while Jomo Sono, the organiser and owner of the Cosmos, is promising competitive action for both sides. Le Guen said: "I don't know much about South African football here but I know there are some great players and I remember watching the national team play France at the World Cup in 1998. "I am looking forward to learning about their football in our two matches." Rangers face Jomo Cosmos at Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein on Friday night with the Dons taking on Bloemfontein Celtic immediately after. Then on Sunday Rangers meet league champions Sundowns and the Dons, who only arrived this morning, meet the Cosmos at Wanderers Stadium, the local cricket ground which is being used for football for the first time. Surely not juff, especially as Kahn got player of the tournament......
-
Have to say I am surprised by that - I thought with the amount he achieved with that team that he would have stayed to give Euro 2008 a shot. Oh well, off to California he goes !
-
it was 4-0 - Beattioe's update must have only been part way through the game. Read his last update - Adam got 3 and Boyd got one

Lol, not your day is it Gav ?

What is funny though is Materrazi is defending his insult because ZZ "looked at him arrogantly". I think ZZ's skills allow him to portray himself as arrogant - doesn't warrant insults though. I thought ZZ's comment at the time when Materrazi was pulling his shirt was pretty good too.... "if you want my shirt you can get it later"
-
Gav, I think Danny's quote was Re Neil Lennon

yeah, it isn't their preferred position, Burke was quoted last season as saying he wanted to make himself more versatile, this might be his chance. Obviously we would all prefer to have a natural LM in there (with Charlie Adam getting a couple he could very well get his chance) - I just think that if you have guys who might be comfortable playing there then I like the idea of rotating - if they aren't getting any change out of their respective opponents, switch them over and see if you can get more out of the other wing. Also, big Dado looked in pretty good form playing out left at the end of the season so he MIGHT be another option. Just thinking aloud, cut me some slack as my brain is fried having just played 90 mins of indoor footy in 90 degree heat and 100% humidity !

Lol, surely I don't need to clarify.... he is the new Pele that the Rangers scouts stole from under the noses of Chelsea, Barca, Arsenal, Milan, Madrid, Man U

I believe it is too late for him. Had he not gone public to the media I think this latest move would have been applauded from with in Ibrox too and he might, just might, have been given another chance. I hope he sorts his personal demons out though - football is a short career and one should never look back on it as an opportunity wasted !

Re left midfield, has it not been suggested that Sionko is pretty effective there ? Also, against Linfield Burke played there and seemed to do ok. Could it be that PLG will use Sionko and Burke as RM and LM and possibly rotate them between the 2 depending on how each is coping against their respective aopponent ?

at that age you are still impressionable anyway gersfem - it takes a big (not literally ) person to admit that they even did it, let alone that they were embarrassed by it - if only some of the others that did it could see it your way too it could only be construed as a good thing
-
Hopefully with PLG at the helm Jim that will change soon - I am sure I read on another thread a while ago that when he looked at the youth teams he was astounded with how poor they were. He also is renowned for bringing in youngsters and turning them into 1st teamers - again, here's hoping he does this with Murray park

gisabeer, If that stroy is true then how on earth can Ricksen honestly and sincerely say that he felt the treatment of him was harsh ?? I am not doubting your mole's credibility, more that if it IS true then Ricksen has a real issue of seeing what is acceptable an what is not !
-
Don't get me wrong Chris, I would wind them up too - it just isn't needed but with some people it is irresistable.
-
Agreed, quite an amazing goal !
-
No and Yes Gav ZZ was NEVER right to do what he did MM shouldn't have done what he allegedly did. I know wind-ups are part and parcel of the game, but they just aren't needed.

What amuses me is that Materrazi goes to great lengths to deny both of those accusations but does not clarify what he DID say - which to me indicates that it could very well be something he isn't too proud of saying.
