  1. My understanding is that it's individually 7 figures and the 30% still to be settled will be that too.
  2. A seven figure payout for each of those involved is a lot of money. It's immoral that it's taken this long to settle with (some of) the victims.
  3. Because one is misleading and the other isn't. If you don't put any importance on being deliberately misled then fair enough.
  4. That's just people manipulating the situation for their own purposes. As has already been said, they'd probably get at with it at any other game, just not a UEFA one. The club are banning people for getting us into trouble with UEFA, not for wrongthink.
  5. It's an embarrassment that they reported it.
  6. Not sure what I've read wrong, but there's certainly enough dubiety about the meaning of the banner that makes it easy for UEFA to claim that it's discriminatory. You've got your interpretation of it, others have theirs and UEFA have theirs. Who is to say which one is correct? If we're spending our time arguing about the meaning then the argument with UEFA is already lost. It's a badly written banner and it's left the club open to be punished.
  7. You said "Basically anything incompatible with Western cultures" so presumably it discriminates against non-Western cultures. You may or may not agree, but there's certainly an argument to suggest that it does. There's enough dubiety about the (poorly written) banner that it makes it very difficult to argue otherwise. If you don't think Ranger should be taking part in UEFA competitions then fine, stay away from these games. It's your choice. Probably not, which makes the displaying of the banner even more stupid. Why show it in a game when the club is going to get punished?
  8. It's not Rangers supporters who want to enforce it. It's UEFA who are enforcing it. The supporters just don't want us punished by UEFA, which could lead to them being banned from certain matches. I'm not sure what the relevance of working or middle class is to whether you don't want your club punished, when it doesn't have to be.
  9. UEFA didn't say it was racist specifically, but a club either abides by the rules and their rulings or they don't take part in their competitions. It was clearly discriminatory, if your own interpretation of the banner is correct. If people want to do fight against UEFA then go ahead, but it'll fail, and fans shouldn't be selfish to use the club for their own individual ideologies when it's clearly going to result in punishment and threaten the attendances of other fans at future games. I don't see the relevance. Just because something isn't criminal doesn't mean it's acceptable to UEFA. We, as a club, aren't going to win any fights against UEFA. We're not from a big league and don't have any influence.
  10. I don't think it matters whether fans agree or disagree with the banner. Either way, it was still extremely stupid to have at it a UEFA game.
  11. Dundee 0 - 2 Rangers FGS Dessers
  12. I wasn't suggesting Mourinho for manager. Just quoting him.
  13. He insisted on playing out from the back and it cost them goals very frequently. He seemed to refuse to change from that. As for Mourinho, surely he was just saying what most of our support were saying about Clement?
  14. Martin showed an inability to change tactics even when his team were clearly shipping goals. As Mourinho said about Clement he's "more worried about philosophies than on the pitch". I don't think we want him given how Clement ended up. I agree that McKenna has too much credit in the bank to come here. Yes, we wouldn't agree to Knutsen's share of transfer profits so he's probably out. Wasn't that impressed by Marsch, but don't know anything about Henriksen, Nancy, Rohl and Rystrom so interesting to hear their names being thrown into the mix.
  15. The hysteria from a section of our support is depressing. It's the board's fault" - Lots online blaming the board for not fighting the charge, even though they don't have a clue whether they did or didn't. Not that it would have mattered anyway. UEFA can do what they want. The board can't be blamed for UEFA's decisions. "It's not racist" - nobody has said that it was. "racist and/or discriminatory". 'Or' being the important word here. "Free speech is gone" - sigh. What a crap argument. You can make the argument but just not at at a UEFA match. They have their rules. If they had said "coherent speech is gone" then I'd have more sympathy. "Support the fans" - which fans are these? The ones who didn't want the banner or the ones that did? Just support the fans that you personally agree with? Another crap argument.
  16. Club Statement | Rangers Football Club RANGERS notes the outcome of the UEFA disciplinary case, and the respective sanctions imposed upon the club for several issues at the recent Ibrox match with Fenerbahce. Most notably, the club has been served with a suspended closure of the Copland Stand should there be any repeat of racist and/or discriminatory behaviour within the next two years. This punishment must serve as a severe and significant reminder to the small minority of supporters who bring the name of Rangers into disrepute. Any repeat of any discriminatory behaviour (and this also includes the singing of illicit songs) may result in the famed ‘Rangers end’ of our home being closed for a UEFA match. Not only will the reputation and finances of the club be harmed by such a punishment, but the chances of the team in a potentially key European match will also suffer enormously, while thousands of innocent fans will be unable to attend a massive fixture. In response to the displaying of the racist and/or discriminatory banner at the Fenerbahce game, the club can confirm that it is in the process of issuing lifetime bans to the individuals responsible. Further, following the use of pyrotechnics at Parkhead in the Old Firm game, the club can confirm the groups responsible for their discharge will be directly impacted by the 500 ticket reduction issued as a sanction the next time the club appears in the latter stages of the Premier Sports Cup at Hampden. The club again stresses a future use of pyrotechnics at any SPFL match may lead to a further reduction of 800 tickets at a latter-stage Premier Sports Cup match. The strongest asset this football club has is our support, and the club knows the overwhelming majority of our supporters will be angered by these episodes and the consequences they have for the club and its supporters. We reiterate our call for all supporters to back the team in the correct manner, and to challenge those who seek to further damage the good name of Rangers.
  17. And the more we're able to sell players for big money, the more attractive we become for other players as they'll see us as a pathway to a top 5/top 2 league team.
  18. Raskin started for Belgium tonight and starred in a 3-0 win over Ukraine. Despite getting a dubious booking after 4 minutes, the wee man played well, keeping the ball moving, almost always finding his man, and made a few key interceptions. He got subbed to a standing ovation on the 90th minute and apparently the Belgians are raving about him.
  19. It's a good question. 3 possibilities. The club didn't stop the banner being brought in, the banner was smuggled in or the banner was produced in the stadium itself. My guess would be the latter. The UBs have had access to do stuff in the stadium previously.
  20. An inability to read the room.
  21. Guess you'd need to join the UBs first, but who knows.
  22. Perhaps UEFA agree that there's nothing racist about the banner but maybe they feel it's discriminatory. It's such a generic term that to try and define it and argue whether the banner is or isn't discriminatory is a waste of time. If UEFA think it is then there's nothing we can do to change their mind. It's their competition and to take part we have to abide by their rules and their decisions, whether fair or not.
  23. My understanding of the Rangers Riot Crew was that they were the 'fighting division' (for lack of a better term) of the UBs, although I'm not 100% sure that they are part of them. They have organised fights with other similar fan groups, usually in a remote location, both in the UK and overseas. A typical fight would be 8 v 8 for a minute 20 seconds. The fights generally seem to be carried out with an element of respect. RRC have formed a friendship with Southside Lyon (SSL). Just in case anyone is interested.
  24. Are the RRC part of the UBs, or totally separate? Does anyone know? I thought they were part of it, but now I'm not so sure.
