  1. McCall isnt in the mould of what a Rangers manager should be or of the class we've had in the past IMO. I attended the Motherwell Sponsors Dinner last year with work and he turned up in jeans, and an open necked shirt - proceeded to get half cut, slagged the players and their WAG's and then left early. Not exactly the example to set to players or the people who payed his wage - a small club mentality. I can only imagine he has the same sort of attitude with the players that McCoist did. Cue the "whats that got to do with managerial ability," but I seriously doubt he has that either.

Break the bank and get Frank De Boer. (wishful thinking)

  2. Guys a massive Bluenose, friends with a guy who played in same school football team as him (tedious link!)

Used to have a few "altercations" with septic minded folks on nights out in Stranraer:flute:. Hope the boy does well.

  3. As with most guys on here, supporting Rangers stems from from Grandpa, and my father. As a young boy, hearing my Grandpa's stories of the great Gers teams of the 60's and big "corky" Young at Centre Back. Dad's stories of Great European nights (especially Bayern at Ibrox) from his youth, made me realise that the Rangers of my day (80's) had tremendous history - even Grandpa had watched them when he was a boy!

I was never going to support anyone other than us, but Grandpa's story that he told my brother and I about becoming a gers fan was slightly better. Being from a farming family from Armadale, around the age of 10 or 12, Grandpa's father wasn't that interested in football, but him and his brothers tended to read about Rangers in newspapers of the day. At the time, the Scottish Coal Board were digging drains along the roadside past his farm. A few of the workers and engineers stopped for lunch at the bottom of the road as the digging passed the farm 1 day. Grandpa and his 2 brothers went for a look and got talking to the men. 1 of which was Alan Morton, the Wee Blue Devil, who still worked for the Coal Board as an engineer while playing with Rangers. Grandpa said at the time they could not believe they were seeing someone in the flesh they had only ever saw in newspapers. From that moment on, all 3 brothers were never going to be anything other than fans of Glasgow Rangers.

Grandpa's only wish was that he had saw Morton play in the flesh.

A story that I will pass on to my Children!

  4. Yes the signings weren't great and some of the football wasn't the best, but I certainly would't bear a grudge with the guy, especially when he's sticking up for us. We fought well in Europe that season and if we had performed how we were capable against Villareal, we would have been in the Champions League quarter final.

Anyone who was at the Inter game as we progressed out of the group will agree for that atmosphere alone.

Rangers: John Brown wants fans to buy club from Charles Green

Former Rangers player John Brown aims to lead a group to buy the relaunched club on behalf of supporters.

And Brown, who recently resigned as a Rangers scout, has questioned whether Charles Green holds the title deeds to Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park.

Green fronted a group that bought the club's assets after Rangers FC plc could not be saved from liquidation.

"We want him to name his price, show us that he owns it and we'll sit down and see what we can do," said Brown.

I was called to a meeting with Charles Green and he said a few things that alarmed me

    John Brown

"If Charles Green's got nothing to hide, he will show us his name on the title deeds. If he is [the deed-holder], then fans will probably buy their season books.

"We don't want to buy in with Charles Green. The Rangers fans are going to buy out Charles Green's consortium.

"The fans will own their own club. There won't be a David Murray, a Craig Whyte or a Charles Green. No individual will have control.

"The fans will find the resources to fund it. We have investors, it's enough to take over this club. There's nobody going to be running away with fortunes."

Brown, who played for Rangers between 1988 and 1997, has urged supporters not to buy season tickets and instead invest in his group, who will secure the funds for a planned buy-out.

    Rangers crisis explained

Rangers went into administration owing up to £134m to unsecured creditors and will eventually be liquidated.

As a result its registrations with the Scottish FA and Scottish Premier League were terminated.

Charles Green led a consortium which bought Rangers' assets for £5.5m.

The former Sheffield United chief executive is reforming Rangers as a new company.

But the 'newco' will not get the required votes for re-admittance to the SPL.

Instead the new Rangers is expected to start life in the Scottish Football League.

And the 50-year-old wants former Rangers vice-chairman and current Cowdenbeath chairman Donald Findlay QC to assess the title deeds issue.

"We've had two bids from a previous consortium knocked back and Charles Green says he's looking for investment," Brown told BBC Scotland.

"Our second bid got knocked back with a phonecall from their lawyers on Sunday evening, an offer of £8.7m yet no phonecall to say 'come in to the table and let's talk about it'.

"I was called to a meeting with Charles Green on Friday afternoon and he said a few things that alarmed me, I'm not going to go public with that just now.

"I'm going to give him a chance to show us who owns the title deeds and whose name's on Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park. That's all that matters.

"It's not just me, before this came out, Rangers fans were refusing to buy their season books because they're not sure.

"He [Green] has no source of revenue, the fans are not putting money in."
