  1. Heard through the grapevine (and on BBC gossip) That Celtic are to offer Michel Owen a Pay-as-you-play deal if Newcastle go down?

Surely Owen is not at the stage of his career to consider such a deal? I'm sure there will be other Prem clubs lining up to sign him if/when Newcastle go down?

  2. I just hope we can make a good account of our selves both on and off the pitch... I can see why some Gunners fans might not be overly enthusiastic about it... we didnt really make a good name for ourselves the last time we visited England.....

  3. I think the lure of the Premiership could be too much for Boyd and Boogie to turn down.

Our best forward and best defender could be gone in one foul swoop... What has our club became? It Saddens me to think the a team like Birmingham have a bigger spending power than us, and, can pretty much pick and choose which members of our squad they want.

  4. Good news. Would be a much more settled back line with him at LB and Whittaker at RB.

Yeah and with Boogie back as well our back line will be at full strength!

    Bring on the Celtic!:box::rfc::box:

  5. HERMANN HREIDARSSON last night confirmed his interest in a move to Rangers.

The Icelandic international, who can leave Portsmouth for free in the summer, was linked with the Ibrox side in January.

Rangers made no move then but an opportunity to bring the 34-year-old defender to the SPL may be back on.

Asked to comment on the fresh interest, he said: "At the end of the season I can decide what I'm going to do."

Pressed on whether he would be keen on a move to Glasgow, he said: "Yes, absolutely."

  6. Well chairman's Old Firm exit fears

Motherwell chairman John Boyle has voiced his concerns over suggestions that Celtic and Rangers might move to the English Premier League.

Bolton chairman Phil Gartside is keen to invite the Old Firm duo down to England in a restructuring of the Premier League.

Gartside is proposing plans for a two-tier top-flight competition, with Celtic and Rangers joining the second tier.

Boyle is wary of any such move and admits he would want Motherwell to make the switch south to England if Celtic and Rangers are allowed to leave the SPL.

He told the Daily Record: "I'd find it inconceivable that the rest of us would watch the Old Firm go down to England and simply say, 'cheerio then, best of luck'.

"If the lines are to be re-drawn and two Scottish clubs go down south, I'd be interested in taking Motherwell into the English Third Division.

"We've got big city clubs like Hearts and Hibs who could prosper in a British set-up as well.

"We could find ourselves playing in a league where the financial structure doesn't make a pair of clubs significantly richer than the rest.

"If we're going to have a once-in-a-generation change to the game, let's examine all the possibilities.

"But the consequences of losing Celtic and Rangers without any further break-up of the SPL would be disastrous from top to bottom for the game as a whole.

"It would bring about the demise of Scottish football as it stands.

"I can see the Old Firm would bring credibility to a second tier of the Premier League down south but there's no doubt we need them here for financial reasons.

"My hope is the clubs in England who'll debate this issue on Thursday regard the whole matter as a flight of fantasy and throw the idea out of court.

"The Premier League in England is the most successful competition in the world and I don't think the turkeys will vote for Christmas so the Old Firm can one day get a share of the goodies."

  7. Would be a decent signing in my view, though we do have other priorities - Right mid. for instance, though Dorman has played there...

Wonder if he's any good in defence... Thats probably where he will end up playing under WS if he get signed...

ENGLISH side Middlesbrough are on the trail of Rangers star Sasa Papac.

The Premiership strugglers are weighing up a summer swoop for Papac as they bid to solve their troublesome left-back position.

And boss Gareth Southgate is preparing to send a representative north of the border to run the rule over the 25-times capped Bosnia-Herzegovina defender when Rangers return to SPL business next weekend at Falkirk.

Papac, who is preparing for his country's World Cup qualifier in Belgium today, was linked with a move to French club St Etienne last summer but opted to remain at Ibrox to fight for his first-team place.

But the 29-year-old, signed by Frenchman Paul Le Guen during his ill-fated Rangers reign, could leave Govan at the end of the season as part of Walter Smith's much-anticipated Light Blues' clear-out.

Papac joined Rangers from Austria Vienna for s450,000 in August 2006 when Le Guen also raided the Austrian side to snap up Libor Sionko and Filip Sebo.

But his time in Scotland could be coming to an end should Boro believe he is the answer to their search for a new full-back.

Southgate's side are involved in a relegation battle to stay in the top flight after last weekend's defeat away to Stoke left them in second-bottom spot.

But they remain confident of staying up and are identifying possible signing targets for next season to boost their squad.

  9. Paul Gascoigne revealed to Setanta Sports News that Jose Mourinho has offered to take him under his wing in order to help him earn a coaching role at Rangers.

Gascoigne is currently halfway through earning his ââ?¬Ë?Bââ?¬â?¢ badges in coaching, and he has been offered the help of some of the best coaches in Europe ââ?¬â?? including Mourinho and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former England talisman admits he would love to get back involved with Glasgow Rangers Football Club, particularly under the eye of Walter Smith, but he admits he has to prove himself before getting a chance at Ibrox.

ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢m working through the ââ?¬Ë?Bââ?¬â?¢ badge at the current time,ââ?¬Â he told Setanta Sports News.

ââ?¬Å?The PFA have offered their help, Sir Alex Ferguson has offered his help. Jose Mourinho has asked me to come over to Milan to work with him and look at the way they work.

ââ?¬Å?I have some of my own ideas as well though.ââ?¬Â

Focusing more on his intention to get involved at Rangers, Gascoigne revealed the final decision will be left with Smith, and the England man is quite willing to prove to him that he is up to the job.

ââ?¬Å?The main man with David Murray is Walter Smith. Walter wants me to do well in all parts of my life, but with Walter youââ?¬â?¢ve got to be spot-on.

ââ?¬Å?Heââ?¬â?¢s a perfectionist, so am I, but I need to be right on it before anything happens.

ââ?¬Å?Rangers is such an unbelievable club. I left Rangers too early, but I left Rangers because Walter Smith left.ââ?¬Â

Gascoigne hopes he will not be judged by his woeful reign at Kettering, when he insists he clearly was not in the right frame of mind to run a football club.

    ââ?¬Å?I wasnââ?¬â?¢t right at that time, I wasnââ?¬â?¢t a coach or a manager. I did have a drink. I wasnââ?¬â?¢t right, I admit that.

ââ?¬Å?But I am right now. I have my own style of football that is different from most other managers.

ââ?¬Å?Letââ?¬â?¢s hope results go my way if I get another job, because you look at the likes of Tony Adams and Paul Ince, who took on big jobs and then get sacked. I donââ?¬â?¢t know why they got sacked.ââ?¬Â

  10. oh dear...This shows how fragile our club is at the moment, one big player out and we have no one even half as good as him to replace him with... and no money to buy someone in the next transfer window. We really need to get something done about this. just look at what McDonald done to Broadfoot at Ibrox for the goal they scored. Not exactly a confidence boost. Could it be the old Ibrox mind games though? Try to get them over confident? Or am I just hoping?

    C'mon Rangers!!
