  1. Anyone got any info. on this newly-formed pressure group? Is it a bunch of cranks or the real thing? Is it even feasible?
  2. Check out the official website. We've signed a 29 year old Spaniard on loan. A "creative attacking midfielder."
  3. Is it McArthur or McCarthy? Confusing but both are good. BTW that right back Stevenson might do Gers a turn - we need a free kick specialist as well.
  4. Well, I'm stone cold sober, 300 miles away from you and you've just brought a tear to my eye.
  5. When you say 'quality' player, is he the type we need i.e. right-sided, creative - or is he a defensive mf?
  6. [GRIBZ I think it really is the time for Rangers and Celtic to make a move and push for an Atlantic league with the Dutch, Belgians and maybe Danish leagues. I've always been in favour of this. SDM hung his hat on the EPL a long time ago but it's now dead in the water. Just today a Standard Liege player was opining about how unfair it is that they have to qualify while the likes of England get 4 reps. Standard Liege used to be one of the biggest clubs in Europe. So it's not just Rangers. There are a lot of unhappy Euro clubs in the same boat- names like Ajax, Benfica and Galatasaray. A Euro league IMO could work alongside domestic leagues and generate huge sponsorship and tv revenues.
  7. Don't know what inside knowledge you have , but if true, yes a disgrace. But - did you read what Novo said? He says that Carlos told him he wanted to leave despite being offered a salary hike. No reason to disbelieve the wee man.
  8. Really good, cool-headed objective analysis Frankie. All those eligible for the AGM should certainly make themselves heard and ensure it is not stage-managed. I can understand and even accept the downsizing, given the, as you say, market we now operate in, but find it much less acceptable to put up with the lack of clarity we've seen recently. For example, it was unforgivable to tell the RSA reps last Friday we had no plans to sell Cuellar when SDM must have been aware of the release clause. We knew he'd go - but hoped he would stay for at least a season. Novo has said it was Cuellar's decision - did he really drop the bombshell on Sunday? And if that wasn't the case, what was the truth about him not being cup-tied? A little bit of honesty is not asking too much. Long-term you make cogent points about the scouting and future strategy. We must have an end to the days of RFC being seen as an elephant's graveyard, or a stepping-stone for EPL wannabees.
  9. I can't see that's he's a player they really need or want - it would just be for spite, to rub our noses in it. And they can do that because they offer Champions League football.
  10. We have been lied to by somebody, whether it was Walter saying it came as a surprise to him or Cuellar himself saying he wanted to stay and was happy (on more than one occasion). And what about this release clause - we were led to believe it was £10 m. This seems like a Hutton scenario again - he wanted to stay but was pushed by Bain or SDM. Any road up, it's time we were treated as grown-ups by the club - how can we believe anything now?
  11. You've got to ask yourself - if big Bundesliga clubs rate him, then why can't we fit him in to our systems? He can't be that bad a player. I'd much rather Cousin went (because of his attitude not his ability) or Darcheville who's always going to struggle for fitness.
  12. What must NOT be allowed to happen is that Carlos is sold 10 minutes before the deadline, giving us no chance to spend the £10 m. or whatever. That truly would be unforgiveable. If that's when we get a bid, then we simply must refuse and sell him at the next window.
  13. And in The Record today it's claimed that Carlos WILL be sold if Hutton-type money is offered. That's in contradiction to what we were hearing before. What we want is for someone to say "He's not for sale" full stop. Won't stop the rumours though. And Templeton clearly didn't ask the right questions - he didn't ask about the rumoured Carlos release clause for 10 million. If he goes at the start of the season when we've been told that we don't HAVE to sell at the moment, then there should be a tidal wave of anger directed at the board like we have never seen.
  14. Thanks. Just found it now myself. There are times when you just have to believe what we're told, but we are a sceptical bunch.
  15. You're not winding us up now? Where did you get that from? If true it's the only good news we've had this week, so let's not spoil it with our cynicism.
  16. Don't be so prickly. I think you have a point but it all seems eerily like the Romanov situation at Hearts don't you think? And how the hell do they get rid of him? After all he just transferred Hearts debt to his bank, not financed the club in the same way you describe SDM having done. One more question: would you fancy a US/Thai/Russian sugar daddy? Even Chelski are £750 million in debt.
  17. That's the point. Bougherra wouldn't have signed if his transfer negotiation had happened a week later, I'm sure. But like us he couldn't believe we'd tumble out of Europe before the season started. Now the only signing we're likely to get is a fading star looking for one last payday. I fear it will be this time next year before we get anything like the standart of player we need.
  18. I KNOW you're not chairman of Rangers. So why haven't we had the right manager? Ah, it's because we have a crap chairman. So you're saying we just need to sit tight and wait for the right man to come along who will find us the right manager. How absurdly simple! As you said earlier, we have no united voice -that's the rub. It's easy to criticise, not so easy to make constructive suggestions. I've made mine, what about you?
  19. That's right, throw the question back at me when you launched the rant! All right, then, I suppose I'd expect a civilised, organised demonstration outside the gates containing many of the 100,000 who followed to Manchester (where were they all v. the Kaunas home tie?). That would at least make the powers that be think. The big problem as I've said before is, to actually identify a credible manager who is available and who would come to Ibrox. It's still a great job, but with no Europe it's much less attractive. So when we say 'Smith out' we must have in mind at least some names. Remember, PLG sounded great when he was first mooted, but who is the PLG of today?
  20. Maybe not - he wouldn't be cup-tied in the league and even WS wouldn't cut off noses to spite face. I think it's a genuine injury, but feel free to call me naive. Good news - Miller out. Bad news - MCulloch likely to replace him.
  21. But is the voice of the supporter heard at any other club in today's climate? Look at Man U during the takeover. Some 'real' fans had to form United FC - their own club. Where are they now? When the what you call 'serially apathetic' are galvanised, what do you then expect from them? That's my point.
  22. Think Novo's suspended lads! Need to put Miller in his place.
  23. I know you're being tongue-in-cheek, but what realistically would you want to happen? Mass picket of Ibrox? Full-scale pitch invasion? Polite letter from the Rangers Assembly? Call for season ticket boycott? (bit late for that). Any chance of meaningful supporter participation seems to have evaporated with the demise of the RST.
  24. Does anyone know - second in the SPL means two qualifying rounds. Will be still be seeded now? If not, we may NEVER get to the CL again. It's that serious. I fear we HAVE to win the League now.
