How dopey is it to have the biggest fight of your career and not have the basics down such as how heavy your walk out gear would be ?  To be fair, lugging 20 kilos around for a few minutes wouldn't have helped him, particularly if you look at how skinny his legs were (clearly misses leg day at the gym) but when your training camp is supposed to be looking at the fine details of how to win and, in Wilder's case, retain an unbeaten record...… to not know how heavy that walk out gear was is the height of stupidity...… the whole thing became more of a show than a fight.

40+ pounds and was only tried on the night before the fight?

Excuses I would think.  Far too much money for there not to be a 3rd fight I'd imagine yet I'd rather see Fury v Joshua.

  2. Kent always plays on the left and seems to always cut in from there to get onto his right foot.  I could be wrong about that being his natural foot as thought he was two footed but he comes inside and more often than not of late loses the ball rather than taking the man on and getting closer to the bye-line for a cross.  Maybe swap him over to the right hand side and see if he improves.  Hagi looks as if he could play anywhere.

I'd rather we sometimes played 2 up  top instead of just Morelos who has been pretty dire since he came back from suspension.

I went for Halliday, thought he had a decent match, he's no Borna or Tav but thought he had a steady match which was more than most others.

Goldson and Katic played well but both were badly at fault for the second goal.

I thought he was awful, I'm sure you could count on one hand how many forward passes he made.  That combined with Kent being shite also on the left meant we had absolutely no threat down that side.

  4. Shocking performance, hard to give any players credit. Katic was OK I thought.  I'm sure I could count on one hand how many forward passes Halliday made;  I don't really care if he's Rangers through and through, I'd rather see one of the kids come though and play left back if that was there natural position.

Tav and Morelos were shite yet again.  Why the stupid dive?  Aribo poor.  I guess we could all go on.  SG not making any excuses in the interview after and taking responsibility.  It would be nice if some of the players did too.

Shocking ref yet agaion but come to expect that now.

  5. A great statement from the club.  I loved how they brought up the many media outlets people etc. and quoted that prick Provan.  Sadly none of these people will take the blindest bit of notice or come forward with any apologies!

How much to win the FA cup with a development team?

Pretty sure it will be a full team against Chelsea or at least a good few of the first team in there.  Typical the anti Liverpool fans/media/pundits having a real go at Klopp and Liverpool for fielding a young team and standing his ground.  Would love the same team to go out again and win in the next round but can't see it.

On a side note, I read that SG had made two enquiries about Jones duing the transfer window but was knocked back.

Rangers will be without the services of Filip Helander until at least the beginning of March after Steven Gerrard provided an update on the 26-year-old’s fitness.

In his press conference on Tuesday morning prior to Wednesday night’s clash against Hibernian, the Light Blues manager said that he is hoping to have the Swedish defender back “in around 4/5 weeks”, the centre-back incurred a foot injury in the Betfred Cup final against Celtic two months ago and has been sidelined ever since.

Helander had been enjoying a prolonged spell in Rangers’ starting XI prior to his foot injury, with the Betfred Cup final being his 11th start in a row in all competitions. During that spell, the ‘Gers won five Premiership games out of six and conceded only four league goals with him at centre-back. However, their defence has been breached just three times in the subsequent seven league games.

The Swede’s injury layoff has seen Nikola Katic regain his place in the team alongside Connor Goldson, who still hasn’t missed a single minute of Premiership football all season. The Croatian finished 2019 in style after scoring the winner against Celtic but was pilloried by some ‘Gers fans on Saturday after being caught in possession during the 0-0 draw against Aberdeen, only for Sam Cosgrove to let him off the hook by failing to convert the resulting chance.

Helander might not be as strong in the air as his Ibrox centre-back colleagues – his match average of 3.4 successful aerial duels is inferior to Katic’s six and Goldson’s 4.7 – but he is more composed on the ball than the other two, with his passing success rate of 83.7% better than Goldson’s 82% and Katic’s 66.7%.

Gerrard also has the option of George Edmundson at centre-back but has rarely turned to the 22-year-old, who came into the side for the Scottish Cup win over Stranraer in January but has played just a single minute of Premiership football in the last four months.

Rangers may be conceding fewer goals with Katic in the team in place of Helander, with the Croatian also providing a strong aerial presence alongside Goldson. However, the 23-year-old’s unconvincing display against Aberdeen could be a cause for concern for Gerrard, while having Edmundson (nine appearances all season) as the only other alternative is not the most ideal state of affairs.

With nine matches to come in a 33-day period starting with the home clash against Hibernian, the ‘Gers boss could have done with Helander at least being available for selection, for injury or suspension to either Katic or Goldson would leave him very short on centre-back options.

Not good nwes for Helander and while I really like Katic but would like to see Edmundson given a bit more of a chance.  Katic reacently has to come into the underperforming category like most of the team but in particular Kamara & Flannagan; I'd probably include Kent in that too but possibly because we all expect that bit more or that bit of magic from him.

  8. If there isn't a reaction to the criticism of the last 2 games in particular then there is somethng wrong.  Hopefully no Ojo and Kamara fo this one; like others I cannot see how Ojo gets on as often as he does.  he has flashes yes but to me looks a bit slow and lazy, not really up for it yet the commentators rave abouthis pace and skill as he's about to come on.

  9. This has just been on SSN, the articles a bit wrong too, he had to shoot 15+ over 36 holes in the same day and only made it on the last putt.

A bit ambitious trying to become a pro though, fair play if he came down from 8 to 3 last year but he would still have to get to a handicap of plus 4 to make it as a pro and 'try' to get on one of the tours I think.

Remember the transfer saga with him and thought he was a bit of a prick then tbh

Former West Brom, Cardiff and Stoke City striker Peter Odemwingie wants to be known for his driving on the golf course, rather than his infamous 120-mile transfer deadline day drive.

The 38-year-old is currently undertaking a three-year PGA programme to become a professional golfer.

Odemwingie, who is currently a three handicap, has already passed an official Playing Ability Test, where he had to shoot -15 over 36 holes.

And now the former striker is aiming to 'make it big" within the next year as he attempts to make the successful switch from football to golf.

"I'm ready to make some noise as a player," Odemwingie told Sky Sports.

"I have a plan to go to Q-School on the PGA EuroPro Tour, I think it's achievable. I've improved as a golfer and I think there is a player in me."

Odemwingie is also qualified as a professional PGA coach after training with coach Jak Hamblett at Calderfields Golf and Country Club.

He spoke about how his journey in golf began, and how legendary coach Butch Harmon became a big influence in his new career.

"I was playing for West Brom when it all started"  "I had played for Lille, in France, and Lokomotiv Moscow and there was never talk of golf in the dressing room."

"Then all of a sudden I saw the boys excited because they were talking about golf."

"On one pre-season we want to America and I saw some of the boys hitting balls. I was wearing slippers but I asked if I could try."

"I thought 'OK' and it grew from there.

"The coach has such an important role to play, with Butch Harmon you can see there is more to coaching then knowing the game. His voice, the way he talks, he guides them as a father figure as well."

"When he talks about Rickie Fowler, he identifies his needs. The way he talks you can see there is more of an effect there, not just as a coach but as a person."

"That is why he has been so successful and I will be looking into his way more."

Having Tav back for Wednesday should help, as should a sharper Morelos.  Further, I'd drop Katic and bring in Edmundson who'd be more effective on the ball and could step into midfield where required if Hibs sit as deep as others have.  Aribo, Arfield and Davis should be the midfield with Kent, Hagi and Morelos in attack.  Nothing to lose now!

I do like the sound of that team.  Goldson really the only ione close to getting passmarks recently.  Kamara definitely needs to sit out a game or two after his last few performances.  Despite his goal I think Kent has been disapointing of late too but unsure of how in favour the replacements could be.  Also hope Stewart is nearing firness to at least make the squad and give us more attacking options with him and Kamberi  on the bench.
