  1. But the warning signs should have been there for years, to anyone with half a brain-cell surely? Its not like we've all suddenly woken up one morning and realised that the songs were considered sectarian/bigoted/offensive just because UEFA told us. We've all known it, the club's known it and the media/general public have known it, as well as taken great delight in pointing it out to us. So of course the warning signs have been there.

Our songs were/are no worse than Celtics, nor are they worse than any songs about Munich, Hillsborough, Ibrox or Matthew Harding. Yet none of the clubs that indulge in these have been moved to change, so why should we have. UEFA arent going near these songs because they'll get a fight. DM has rolled over and allowed his tummy to be tickeled and shown he's a spineless twat who doesnt give a damn about us.

Some fan sites on the web have openly talked about the need to change, some have been totally in opposition to it. But ultimately its because the club hasn't taken a strong enough line with this, that UEFA are now stepping in. And yes its a "fashionable" crusade for UEFA in these days of political correctness gone mad, but so what, it was bound to happen at some point. Maybe DM was waiting for this to happen so he wouldn't be seen to be the one who had to tell us to change our ways. That way he's not seen to be the bad guy in all of this.

DM hasnt given two fucks about the situation. He put up no appeal and has doen nothing to stop the press writing whatever they want.Like I say there are other examples of offensive song sung by other fans, what DM could have said was "aye OK, but you have to take other clubs to task" we shouldnt have faced UEFA on our own.

  2. Bollocks again. Saying its bitter concieted celtic bahaviour is paranoia.

How about you knocking the slagging of the TA on the head.

Im not slagging them off, I am stating what is fact in regard to their behaviour.

Supporting a teams opposition because you percieve them as your rivals is Celticmindedness. Fact.

You wanna talk about Paraguy, t&T or Sweden? then i see Celticminded.com have a huge post goin giving them their support.

  3. Whats the big deal? I dont want England to win any games at the World Cup so il support whoever there playing.

Its nothing against English personally or the people or the country.

    Sounds like it tho.

  4. I'm never going to like or tolerate a bigot just because he supports the same team as me.

The point is we're as guilty as hell, people dress up the excuses as much as they like but the fact is, if the gers fans weren't going out of their way to deliberately be offensive, there wouldn't be these songs, as there wouldn't be the motivation.

These Rangers fans actually ENJOY the bigotry and they are just crying foul as their being told not to play their favourite game.

Do you really think anyone gives a toss about a sash some guy's father wore?

I'd like to see how many Rangers fans on seeing a sash, exclaim, "Oh it's so beautiful!"

I'm not saying the song is bigotted, but the motivation to sing it is.

Well, If I may say so, your attitude is shocking.

You seem like an educated person, and your posts reflect this. Please do not forget that not all our supporters are, most are from working class backgrounds and have not enjoyed the level of education of others. Some fans simply do not grasp that these songs are offensive, and will sing them to generate a good atmosphere without realising that they may be offending others.

I also think its inherently wrong to attack the beliefs and background of the other fans around you. To some, the Orange Order and the songs that surround are extremly important and have deep personal meaning. As Cammy says this has long been associated with our club, if you do not partake in this you must not chastize those tho chose to. It is not your place.

As I said, the fans groups must take a lead on this and maintain a balance of Rangers songs and our history.

  5. My version of The Billy Boys

Instead of "we're upto our knees in fenian blood" we could sing....

...."we're upto our knees in roastit cheese"

    Have a wee listen

    :D

haha, i seen that on FollowFollow. Its quality. Had me and the mates singin it v Hearts. awesome.

  6. I'll start.

How about a version of Lordi's Eurovision winner?:

    All we need is Prso,

    With his power and might,

Striking down our rivals with fear

    As his mood is rising,

    He scores another goal,

Now let us rise up and cheer.

Rock and roll Rangers win their fifty second league title

Scottish and league cups all in one have arrived

Rock and roll Rangers win their fifty second league title

In Paul's creation, super footballing high.

Also to the tune of Oh My God by Kaiser Chiefs

Oh my God, I can't believe it,

Our new man is Paul Le Guen,

Oh my God, you better believe it,

The Gers are back on top again.

And I suppose you could add:

    I predict the treble,

    I predict the treble.

Decent effort, but football chants have to be punchy. Aside from the "predict a treble" one the songs you have listed are not catchy and just wouldnt work.

Now I couldnt very well say that and not have a go myself.

So to the tune of Yellow Submarine......

We're all happy Paul Le Guen is here today

    Le Guen is here today

    Le Guen is here today

maybe not a brilliant effort, but worth a try.

  7. People are blaming UEFA but it's the stupidity and maliciousness of our fans that are to blame.

Thats very harsh, You're acting like the warning signs were there and this was to be seen coming. Thats certainly not the case. Officially this is the only time this song has come into question. Sure theres been debate and the media are always on about it, but we as fans, have always fought our own corner, through our fanzines and websites.

With UEFA we couldnt do that ourselves and surprise, surprise, the club did fuck all.

This issue has certainly split our fanbase, you seem to be very bitter and angry towards other Rangers fans, calscot. Thats your perogative I guess, but Im sure you'd agree its a shame to want to attack a fellow Rangers fan, no matter who he is. It shows we need proper leadership to guide us on these issues and formulate a plan to remove the FTPing, whilst maintianing our identity.

  8. Utter bollocks, nothing to do with being bitter at all or fighting in any fuckin war.

The english media are so far up there own ass it makes us sick. They think they have a divine right to win the WC when they are nothing but an average team.

Be that as it may, thats no reason to hate them or support whoever they are playing. Dont support them if you dont want, ignore them if you dont like them. Reeks of Celtic.

  9. Gribz, are you Scottish or do you have a split nationality?

Paraguay, Sweden T&T and everyone who plays England? Tell me, do you support Hearts, Dundee United, Killie etc when they play Craptic?

This debate really gets to me - I am Scottish an proud of that fact but don't express this in an anti-English way. However, in doing so, some people claim that I am not Scottish and an English wannbe.

The only time I want England (Wales and NI) to get beaten is when they are playing Scotland.

    Cammy F

Spot on, its just bitter concieted Celtic behaviour to support England's rivals. Knock it on the head.

  10. The reason the tune has been banned is that even if 95% of the Rangers fans sing the official version, there will be some who continue to sing the 'up to our kness in fenien blood'.

Remember about 3 years ago we stopped playaing simply the best due to the add-ons, it has reappeared since without the add-ons. Maybe, just maybe the 'Rangers Boys' can make a comeback - but at the moment far too many would contiune to sing the line above leading Rangers to be PUNISHED ....

Do we really want Rangers to be docked points, have stands closed or thrown out of Europe? Do we really love a song about a neo-nazi gangster more than we love Rangers?

    Cammy F

What about away trips tho? sure we can ban it at Ibrox, but this wont stop fans singing it away from home where the club cant control the fans. What implications could this have and if we realy do want it stopped completely, how do we do it?

  11. well i wont be! i prefer to see england play well, i was hoping after the first goal yesterday they would go on and tank them, but the performance was pretty dire and they have a lot to work on if they are to get anywhere near winning it!

the manager needs to get to know how to use subbies better, and punt owen hargreaves to fuck at the same time! he has about as much to offer the english as colshy does :D thats a bit harsh actually, colshy probably has more to offer than hargreaves!

The only reason Hargreaves is in the squad is cos they were worried he'd be called up by Germany 4 or 5 years ago so theyve stuck with him to save face, he is still playing for Bayern Munich so he's not exactly a bad player, but you rarely hear of any Premiership sides wanting to sign him, which suggests no one in the English game rates him at all.

Sven has never known how to uses subs, and that is why alot of England fans do not like the man. The squad itself isnt bad, but then everything leading up to the finals has been Rooney, Rooney, Rooney. The've Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Owen and Ferdinand, players who are first on their respective club's team sheat, yet with no management or tactics the squad struggles against Paraguy. Egland should do well and I want them to do well, but they will not win it unless Sven learns offensive, attacking tactics. and fast.

  12. So its the actually tune thats been banned without allowing us to change the words!!

Well can someone tell me if Old Trafford has the same ban and Man Utd are going to be sanctioned aswell?

Hullo Hullo we are the Busby boys

Hullo Hullo we are the Busby boys

If you are a city fan surrender or you'l die

    Coz we all follow United

No as every other club in the coutry have a backbone in their director's box who'll stand up (sic) for the fans and the club. This same tune is used by far more clubs than us or United, but because ours MAY or MAY NOT contain a reference to killing Catholics we're getting hammered. And all because that chickenshit David Murray cant stand up (sic) to our detractors.

Murray Murray Murray, Out Out Out.

  13. i think he was more on about how shite a performance it was and when england face a better side they will be beaten!

And when that happens you lot'll be dancing on the tables, lifting your skirts and flashing old ladies and kids, the same way the TA do at home and away.

  14. Get a hold of yourself colshy, on that performance id be worried.

I suppose this is what the WC is all about though, and we'll just have to wait for a Germany of Argentina to knock england out

Aye supporting our old enemies over the country we fought beside. Great stuff, typical bitter Tartan Army Jockobite attitude.
