  1. I note in three Championship games, Hearts have accumulated 13 yellow cards and two reds. The manager(is it Craig, or is it Robbie) has informed us that they prepare for matches, expecting to be reduced to ten men. In eight out of the last ten seasons, Hearts have been fined the maximum amount by the SFA for continued ill-discipline. The boys in maroon will suffer constantly throughout the season, deserved suspensions will ensue. I suspect Rangers have a similar potential contained in two players. Both Bilel Mohsni and Ian Black style of approach often sees them on the cusp of red cards. Currently, Black is out the team. His direct replacement, Jig is not the long term/medium term answer, but he does recycle the ball quicker than Black. We have had one caution in two matches and it's Mohsni, would it be prudent for the manager to remove what is becoming an obvious problem? If we pick up a couple of reds in three games, it will be talked about, constantly.
  2. If the Eagles secure Mr McCoist as their next manager(here's hoping), will Selhurst Park become, 'the Ally Palais'?
  3. I would like to echo Zappa's sentiments. This forum is a wonderful mechanism for all it's users and it's essential that regular participants provide the necessary stimulus to keep it moving forward. I would hope there is enough appreciation to inspire some collective responsibility? It's shoulder to the wheel time.
  4. The real shockeroonie tonight is that Hearts only had one player cautioned.
  5. Not Ian McEwan's best book, and the film did not elevate. I can recommend, Saturday, the Cement Garden, and On Chesil Beach.
  6. Surely, a pretty simple piece of administration is required by our club to accommodate any away supporters in the Championship? Just how bad is it in the Laager?
  7. Goalkeepers are big awkward types that insist on hanging around with footballers. I liked Simo's kit last evening, a nice pastel powder blue affair. Maybe, that is the future of goalkeeping, utilise them as a blank canvas for revenue raising advertising?
  8. Gordon's legacy is a collection of insightful pieces, something his pernicious condition could not destroy.
  9. Reference the RFC Fans' Board. Reminds me of sitting Higher History(Traditional) 40 years past. The detached British Government's attempts to deal with the revolution in the Americas was parcelled into two Acts, the Canada Act and the Continental Act. One was described as, 'a fire without a chimney', and the other as, 'a chimney without a fire'. Seems equally applicable to the RFC Fans Board. I have an idea, since we the supporters are the single biggest investor in the club, season after season. How's about a couple of Rangers fans on the club Board? Anything other is deserving of ridicule. Of course, all candidates for positions as supporters on the club Board should have both Higher History and Higher Latin.
  10. der Berliner, I have expended all my ammunition. I am reduced to prosecuting this assault/fight through with the Regimental Piper and a fixed bayonet.
  11. I believe Wallace is a tad old-fashioned, he expressed an opinion that he would prefer to play a club that had a manager. Ally feels this to be an unreasonable view.
  12. Well, we need £4million just to keep the lights on. Lee is one of very few assets at the club and I suspect our usual position will be fully exploited by the Brighton and Hovers, £1.2million tops. I should add that Ally has already identified our new left back from within the current staff, Lee McCulloch.
  13. Well done Hugh MacDonald. It's taken 35 years under several designations; Literary Editor, Sub-Editor, Chief Sports Writer, Chief Football Reporter, ......... etc, and finally Hugh has managed to pen an objective appreciation of the current situation at Ibrox. He should be encouraged.
  14. It's another in a long list of responsibilities being abdicated by the current excuse for a Board. After defeat to Raith Rovers in the Ramsdens, Ally should have been informed his departure will be managed. Last game of the season, league trophy paraded, lots of applause, Ally announces he, and his family have had enough. Ally the Legend is eulogised and lionised. Now, it's NOT going to end nicely. Either, he will be shown to an empty room with a loaded revolver, or a Davie White after defeat to Gornik situation will transpire.
  15. Wonderful, Charlie Chuckles returns to the centre ring. He must need the monies for a hydro-therapy pool at his Normandy stables. Must be really difficult keeping those balls in the air Chuck, whilst wearing such big shoes?
  16. Vincent has departed, he hopes to be invited to approach the Bar. Thus, a new Sellik supporting Compliance Officer is required. Peter identified one, told Regan to appoint Anthony McGlennan. I know there's a helluva lot going on within and outwith our club at the moment, but I suppose we should note the next Yahoo waiting in line to avail himself of the opportunity to sink the boot.
  17. Oscar Pestorious has sacked his counsel and hired ra Sellik's lawyers. Well, having lost both legs, they still secured a victory.
  18. Roy Greenslade is the very one to be wagging the moral finger at the Daily Record. As News Editor of the Sunday Times, he penned a weekly column in the Sinn Fein/IRA newspaper, 'An Phoblacht' under the nomme de guerre, 'George King'. Providing direction and leadership to reporters on say, the Warrington bombibg; whilst justifying it later in the week. I noted an article last year by a blogger pointing out the characters owning white walled coastal cottages in one particular part of Donegal. Roy, Phil, several balaclava clad types, former Daily Record Chief Reporter, Anna Smith, Alex Mosson, ........... etc. Saturday night in the local pub must be real hoot? Further, Cosgrove has had a hard-on for the Daily Record recently. I assumed it was because they let him go as a columnist after 15 years. Last Saturday on BBC Radio Scotland he was baiting Andy Cameron with, "the Daily Record are saying your club did nothing wrong". Cameron ignored him and Stuart became more shrill, "are you happy with the current Daily Record revisionism"? Andy replied, "Aye, we all know where you're coming from". I wonder if there's any recent on going connection between Greenslade and Cosgrove? We should be told if Stuart is going to abandon his status as absentee landlord to his property in Sri Lanka, and move to coastal Donegal?
  19. The Board won't/can't sack Ally. We must endure. I went firm on my growing opinion in the immediate aftermath of the Ramsdens cup final. Within several yards of Easter Road, I turned to my mates and agreed with their settled will. On the bus on the way back, the name, 'Long Ball Ally' was coined and so far this season, that name continues.
  20. Ah, the sartorial elegance of a Bluenose, makes you proud to be a Bear.
  21. I remember the late, great Bob Crampsey speculating in the late 70s/early 80s on the dangers of TV. He was a great Cricket(member of Somerset CCC) and Baseball fan. He used both these sports to highlight the pernicious nature of constant TV live coverage. Crowds at both these sports at that time were dwindling rapidly, and specifically he talked about the growing evidence that children in Atlanta, Chicago, LA, .... etc were just as likely to be Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees fans, as to be fans of their home city clubs. On the streets of Scotland, it's a cosmopolitan approach to children replete in replica kits, both Barca and to a lesser degree, Real Madrid, and half a dozen English teams are as popular as any Scottish club. Twenty years of every breath and fart of CL has ensured this and proved auld Bob correct. It's the same in Belgium, when I was a kid, drawing Anderlect or Standard Liege was tantamount to a gubbing. Where are they now? Could Lokeren achieve back to back Euro Cup wins now? The landscape has changed, forever. The law of diminishing returns awaits and to some, like Cosgrove that is most appealing. We are doomed to the suburbs of Brigadoon East with Establishment Stu' patrolling the streets.
  22. From the depths of my professional life. The Dragonfly Trumpeter is/was a Cessna aircraft, converted to a stable weapons platform. During the Falklands Conflict, the Argentines had a similar threat, 'the Pucara'. Twin turbo prop, capable of slow speeds, allowing fairly accurate targeting and delivery.
  23. Remember, Peter is now resident on the SFA Board. Inconvenient reports from foreign refs will not be tolerated. The Daily Mail's Stephen McGowan is Lawwell's man in print media, he has been fed that particular titbit to calm troubled waters.
  24. Oh cheers for that piece of mental imagery; a lurking MD in cyber shadow. I'll chip in a couple of quid for an iron dome defence.
