  1. I was questioning the subs at the time, just as I questioned the subs at Aberdeen and at the Motherwell game. If he gets the subs right, and takes the knackered Kamara off for say Arfield, then Kyogo is not left unmarked to score the equaliser, as Kamara was a couple of yards away and didnt track him. Yes of course if Tav makes the tackle (both goals) or Jack doesnt fanny about then the ball doesnt get to Kyogo in the first place. Also if he puts Roofe or Colak or Arfield on instead of Sands, then perhaps they score the opportunity when Sands gets the ball in a great opportunity and refuses to shoot and ends up losing the ball instead. We didnt need to go all defensive to see the game out from 60 mins, we had them exactly where we wanted them and should have pushed on for a comfortable win. Do you think our opponent would have done the same? It comes down to in-game management and footballing philosophy, and while its early days I am somewhat troubled by what i've seen in this area to date.
  2. Sakala by some distance. Good second half by Kent. Davies best of the defence. Midfield pretty awful in my book, wouldn’t give any of them pass marks. Substitutions cost us the game, Beale has a lot to learn and he better do it quickly.
  3. I really believe the reason for the lack of atmosphere is directly related to the fact that our stadium has been almost entirely season tickets only for the best part of 30-35 years now, and also to the stadium changing to all-seater. My earliest years (mid-late 80's) of going to Ibrox the atmosphere was generated because you stood with your mates, in groups straight off buses so you knew everyone around you and the atmosphere was just a continuation of the singing etc on the bus to the game. Nowadays most groups of guys are all over the stadium in separate ones and twos. The advent of all-seater stadiums, taken together with all season-tickets, and it has to be said, the more family-friendly stadium it is now with many more women and children going to games takes away from the general average game atmosphere. You could also add the cost of the football now means it is no longer the working mans game, so the demographic of those going has also changed over time, bringing with it more spectators than fans. As it is I dont hark back to the days (not even sure they existed) where every game had a good atmosphere no matter the football on show. The special atmosphere that is still created at Ibrox for big games or for magical performances is nothing to do with banging a drum and waving flags. It is when the full crowd rise to appreciate a special effort or occasion. That will do for me. If the team are playing well and entertaining the fans, the fans will always react and the atmosphere improves. On big games, the fans try to give the players a head start by generating the atmosphere in advance of kick off, but that will only be sustained if the team players their part on the field. No amount of drums, flags and silly songs from the UB will change that.
  4. Gone for Borna, just ahead of Alfredo. Shows exactly why he is such a good player for us and miles ahead of any other options in that position. 2 lovely assists, the first an absolute peach, and the second he puts right on Goldson's shoulder with a lovely inswinging corner. Overall another 3 points, another clean sheet, and another inept performance. But i will take another inept performance on Monday if we get 3 points. There are signs that one or two of our better players are getting back to form (Alfie, Kent) and we are back at what would probably be considered our first pick back 5, so really just the midfield that continues to be honking. Lundstrum, Jack, Davis, Arfield, Lowry, Sands, Kamara all been started in there in MB's reign and none have had good games from the start. It's a real problem area and one we need to be bang on for Monday.
  5. I think they were just being kind, boost his spirits. Not a chance he would have played even a third of games, hence why he should never have been re-signed.
  6. The partnership with Goldson & Davies certainly looks more assured. 2 experienced pros both comfortable in the position, amazing what a difference that can make compared to what we’ve been watching in their absence.
  7. Should never have been given another year, a terrible waste of money this season and also a waste of a slot in our squad. Hasn’t been anywhere near his best for years. Still a sad ending to a decent career.
  8. I'm not having a go at the kid, only 18 and being played out of position isn't easy, and coming into a team bereft of confidence is not an ideal set of circumstances, but I really dont see anything in Devine that is worthy of the praise I have seen here and elsewhere. Been caught out several times, final ball pretty poor, he is certainly no Nathan Patterson who you could tell was special from first sight. Got lots of time on his side but I am hopeful Borna is back soon, and Devine can continue to learn his trade under a bit less pressure. As for MOTM, gone for Lundstrum just for the goal as the rest of the match was poke-your-eyes-out-garbage. Happy to take the 3 points and move on. 2 massive home games to come now, there has to be improvement or its going to be ugly.
  9. Or Aberdeen have zero shots on target in 90 mins like they did when their friends were up at the weekend. Only 2 attempted shots on goal at home in 90 mins. No ambition whatsoever. My money is on they have more than that in the first 10 mins tonight.
  10. A goalscoring midfielder/wide forward/winger. Must provide plenty of goals/assists. The one position we do not have anybody for. None of our current squad provide enough goals/assists for what we need, meaning we are far too reliant on one striker (given we only play one at a time) to score the goals.
  11. I think this should be fairly easy, Tillman was miles ahead of the others, made the biggest impact on the game. I thought Alfie & Sakala looked pretty sharp although took the same runs a few times. The defence looked as bad on the park as it did on paper before the game. Tav is a shadow of his former self, Devine came onto a game late on but looked so obviously on the wrong side for an hour before he decided to just go and get outside on the overlap. Kamara & Jack were about as bad as i can remember in the first half, but both seemed to react to the boot up the backside at HT. Why did it need that?
  12. No idea who that guy is, if he is indeed anyone at all, but I think he nails it spot on and can’t find fault in anything he says in that article. Not that I care much as most managers are the same but there can be no denying Beale done a monumental about turn after coming out with all that utter pish about loyalty just a few weeks earlier. I haven’t listened to any of Beales interviews since he arrived because what’s the point, he may just say the exact opposite at the next opportunity. I just hope he can get a winning team on the park, starting tomorrow.
  13. I thought he looked sharper on Saturday from what I seen on tv (low bar of course), had a few good link-ups from deep, certainly noticed him more than Colak who was pretty anonymous. Just a feeling that Beale will go to try to get Morelos onboard straight away and show him he wants him.
  14. Don’t think it will be too far away, matondo wont start, and I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that Morelos will start ahead of Colak.
  15. I’m sure there are quite a few that signed up on the card scheme to all games, but didn’t go for a number of reasons. I’m one of them so I’ll be counted in that “attendance” even though I didn’t go. Yes definitely worth remembering that scorelines in friendlies mean absolutely nothing, it’s just about match sharpness. Not sure we can take even that out of the game yesterday as our opponent clearly had no interest in making it a game, so it’s hard to get match sharpness when only one team is trying to be sharp.
  16. I was there too. Thankfully Rosie’s restaurant was very accommodating. Seems I couldn’t pick a winner in a 2 horse race after one has fallen.

  19. No evidence it was Rangers fans. Could just as easily have been locals or tims that then had other plans and decided not to go after all. Did every ticket holder that asked for a refund say it was because Rangers pulled out?
