  1. So, after all due consideration, your position is that if these songs are never sung again, the victimhood industry will grind to a halt and the Catholic/Irish/Celtic community will relinquish all offence? Good luck with that.
  2. I know celtic fans who propose that Follow Follow is clearly sectarian because of the Dublin word. Should we stop singing this song too?
  3. There is no definitive commodity called offence. I'm merely stating that many of those who shout loudest about their offence actually take no genuine offence at all and simply want to get one over on Rangers fans. If you find it genuinely offensive then that's your right but please don't use that to cover up the contrived nature of most of this affair. Celtic fans take equal 'offence' (ie they don't like it) at Derry's Walls, they just haven't found the leverage to contest it yet - but they will. I don't believe I've shouted ftp at anyone, ever, but I find the disingenuous nature of this false victimhood to be whole lot more offensive.
  4. All of this stems from a clear sense of injustice - one that will remain whether the songs are sung or not. To a large extent the songs are irrelevant in themselves. What's important to most bears is what the songs represent, the freedom to express our identity and feel pride in our heritage in the way the other mob do with theirs. There is no doubt in my mind that we're caught in the middle of something that goes well beyond football and whether you like it or not, no one is going to be allowed to bury their head in the sand and pretend otherwise. When these songs are finally ditched, their offence will simply be attached to something else. Every time we behave like other football fans there will be another complaint of bigotry. We know that there is no real offence taken at TBB other than it's us that are singing it. It may seem expedient just to stop singing it but how many times will they come back requiring that something else is given up and how many times will you think are enough? Where does it stop for you - this time, the next time, the time after that, or when?
  5. Absolutely right and it applies to fans as well as the club.
  6. With respect it's easy to do a spot of googling and post what these people are writing but what about tackling them directly on twitter, facebook, etc? I see Frankie and some others getting the message out but the rest are visible only to a handful on Gersnet and we don't need convincing. Well, most of us don't anyway.
  7. Been saying this for years. The RC political machine is at the root of all of this.
  8. A few over-hyped threats in tabloid newspapers and it's disarray time amongst Rangers supporters. The meek get meeker, the bold get bolder, hands are wrung, songs are sung, fear and capitulation, fuck-em and defiance. Everyone protesting they have the only right solution. Five minutes ago it was a universal plea for consensus and cooperation. Didn't last long.
  9. Yes but where does your start end? You really think if you draw your line further back that they'll stop attacking you. When exactly did we all lose our balls? TBB is an meaningless anachronism, the Famine Song is a piss-take. Why is everyone running for cover all of a sudden? If you don't want to sing the song then don't sing it but stand up for yourselves ffs.
  10. 3. Supporter Numbers Related to your post is the insidious erosion of our supporter numbers. Poor marketing, dreadful PR failure on a daily basis, confused identity, inadequate outreach ..... are all contributing to less and less new youngsters choosing Rangers and more children from the existing Rangers constituency rejecting the club. I see this all around me and it worries me what another twenty or thirty years of this will do to the health of the club. All of this stems from the huge gulf that has opened between the club and the fans, stoked by lack of respect in both directions.
  11. You're right, I had the wrong end of the stick altogether. Just checked out Azure thought the maze to a French holding co. Depends on the contract but still might be possible to re-negotiate.
  12. With any luck the next owner will have included the Azure contract in his negotiations with the current owner.
  13. Just like to add that by far the most painful aspect of all is how easily we've been out- thought by the bheasts. Even though we know damned well that behind this is a catholic orchestration, they have been cleverer, more patient and more persistent - enough to out-fox us at ever turn. If we're ever going to reassert our own position then we need to stop shouting foul when no one is listening and get organized and get smart. If we don't then we're fucked frankly and TBB will only be the start of it. Unfortunately, I can't see us changing.
  14. I think what most Rangers fans want is a sense of justice. At the recent OF game there were many thousands singing TBB, many of whom did so in the full knowledge it would be heavily criticized but who harbour a profound feeling of playing patsy in a rigged game and saw the singing as a way of fighting back. These same fans have mostly avoided singing TBB out of care for their club for a longtime but still chose to use it as a gesture of defiance against those who have contrived the sitiation we find ourselves in. It's inequality of justice that lies at the heart of this whole issue and that problem won't be solved by boycotting TBB, whether ot not you advocate singing it or not. Only the club has the key to this. Rangers fans have been vilified for years, mostly without real justification, and many feel abandoned by the club they support. Not because the club rightly tries to curb bad behaviour but because the club fails to challenge our detractors when it's obvious a great deal (all) of the so-called offence being caused is completely manufactured. TBB may have traditional value but I personally doubt it would be a problem for most fans to let it go - so long as there was a belief that all clubs would be treated equally. We know that's not the case today and this will continue to be a problem for the club until the club decides to get into the fight.
  15. Anyway, after the excellent conduct by Rangers fans in recent times, if this doesn't finally wake up someone at Ibrox to start dealing with MacGholliwog, Spiers and the rest then we desperately need new folks in charge of the club. Bain talks tough in the Record article but nothing ever gets done with these partisan journalists.
  16. OK, I see that's possible. Thanks, I took the headline too literally.
  17. What I don't understand is how you ban us for three matches. Which three matches? Qualifying matches? Group stage matches? What? Can't see how it could work.
  18. In the sordid world of OF politics, nothing ever happens for no reason, so I imagine the release of this story means Whyte will finally buy the club today.
  19. Bain says.... "It has also become clear there are people who have been determined to undermine our club at any cost and have constantly lobbied for action against Rangers." The why have you not done something about these people like Spiers, you gutless twat. Why are they still allowed inside Ibrox?

:thup:The definitive SDM post. The Bermuda Bullet hits the mark.
  21. It the deal goes through the club will require a new board of directors. Maybe aspiring directors will be invited to acquire a certain shareholding to demonstrate good faith.
  22. I wasn't questioning your choice of words, simply trying to emphasize that while it's satisfying to react to Rabbit's proposal in a positive manner, there's no shifting people who don't want to be shifted. If Dingwall doggedly chooses to maintain his current stance then the notion of general unity is futile, at least one including FF. Everything we've seen from him tells us he can and likely will maintain a separate position. It might be more practical for other groups to demonstrate a willingness to cooperate and thereby to leave FF isolated and it's members perhaps questioning why. Perhaps the biggest problem is that unity itself isn't the objective, it's only the proposed means to some other set of objectives, and putting supporter unity to some practical use probably means having a collective voice - something that will also remain compromised while Dingwall continues to exert so much influence over the RST. I agree with you that he shouldn't be allowed to continue to obstruct RST progress but, again, who is going to do the disallowing. So many RST board members have come and gone over recent years to have confidence it will ever be done from within and, if not from within the RST, then from where? What's missing, as ever, is the means to affect change and without it this and other initiatives, while admirable, will not get beyond aspiration. I get your point, and agree with it, I just can't see how it gets put into practice. Someone may well have a cunning plan and I'm just too dumb to see it.
  23. This must be a big part of your life to have the time to scrutinize and judge individual members. I've noticed you like to do that. Like I've already said, if your so easily upset, just don't read my posts. They always arrive with my username top left so you'll never need to be surprised, oh arbiter of all debate .... or were you just offering an opinion perhaps?
  24. What people, what answer?
