Just because our committed good friends in the establishment have extended another small assistance, no reason for the immigrants to take offence:)

Walter Smith Says SPL Cannot extend the season - SSN
maineflyer replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Speak up Mr Smith, you're not shouting loud enough. You're bang on the money but you're leaving them too much wriggle room. Tell them it would amount to downright inequality and biased judgement were they to take a different view now. Ask them if they want to demonstrate favouritism towards one club at the expense of others? These monkeys only respond if you stand right in their faces.- 10 replies

It's interesting in itself but I take a very jaundiced view of the reaction this will get from the football authorities. I think these surveys have value but, as always, the danger here is that fans place too much faith in the likes of SD which, while well-meaning no doubt, has about as much stroke in football terms as my cat has to stop the rain falling. For any real effect, fans need to put pressure directly on their own clubs if they want to influence those who will vote around the table of change. Experience tells us that leaving it to representative groups almost never produces results, however high those groups may hold their own importance.

Ffs, where d'you get that shite from? Bit harsh aren't you?

Look to me like you gave up some time ago but feel free to keep on chasing shadows. The past os over, if we're honest much of it wasn't so brilliant anyway (I still remember sitting watching Juventus take the piss at Ibrox) and the club is probably a bigger shambles because of it. If you keep on hankering after what cannot be achieved, where do you suppose it's likely to lead you? You seriously need to find a way to move on instead of wishing for another Murray to come along.

The best Rangers team I ever saw was the product of an 18 team league. The same 18 team league that had Hibs, Hearts and Dundee all performing at the highest level in European competition. We made three Euro finals from an 18 team league. The old mantra of meaningless games is such shite I can't imagine why anyone would swallow it..... are there no meaningless games today? I sometimes think we've been seduced by a European dream that we'll never really be part of again. We'll never again compete financially at the highest level and it's time we stopped deluding ourselves. Neither will the national team ever again qualify regularly for big tournaments. The fact is that the problem isn't income, it's expenditure. Scottish clubs, including Rangers, spend too much money and the consequence is a football structure that cannot possibly succeed. We're not English, we'll never play in England and Europe will soon be well beyond our means to compete - get used to it. Rangers was Rangers long before this Euro madness and will still be Rangers after we're forced to turn our backs on it. The biggest problem is becoming the support itself, which cannot accept the new reality and grows increasingly discontented. You can only ever play the cards you're dealt and that means existing within much narrower boundaries in future.

McLeish backs supporters representation on SFA Council
maineflyer replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
Only in Scotland would we ask a disgraced politician to report on such a disgraceful shambles. I've just read what I assume to have been an expensive report and see little in it that's new or that most on here couldn't have recommended for free. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it looks like he's recommending what the authorities had already decided they could accept - it's political pragmatism but hardly inspiring leadership. While it asks for re-organisation, I fear it leaves the same old cabal sitting on different bodies but calling the same shots for the same reasons as always. The decision to consult SD seems to me to be more political posturing than genuine enquiry, you might as well ask turkeys what they think of Christmas. In our own case, the idea of using the RST as a sounding board for thevRangers support is simply absurd, yetbthis is the source that McLeish has decided to tap into. In short, I can see little or nothing about this report to getbexcited about or to inspire hope for a better future for football in Scotland. If anything, McLeish gives the existing vested interests all the leeway they need to carry on with only the odd cosmetic change. Entirely what I'd have expected from someone with McLeish's pedigree. -
I hope for his sake he goes this season ... a winner, with the title and his reputation intact.

Diplomatically I'd have to say they were all equally enthusiastic. -
Do I detect the sort of personal qualities that make for a classic celtic signing target?

If there are any admin still queuing up for their turn to absolve this great institution, don't bother. I knew all along you were a peerless bunch of good guys, I just didn't realise you were so prone to the wind up. -
Actually Terry Butcher is an ex captain of Rangers and while you might think that counts for little I believe many othets will see it as reason enough to show a bit more respect than that. It's not so long since he was seen as instrumental in pulling this club out of the doghouse and restoring both pride and success. Whatever he does or doesn't say these days, never forget what he did for us twenty years ago.

Ain't that the truth, only sensible way to administer it.

Neither the H word nor the F word should be banned and neither should in any way be illegal, irrespective of context or user. The current situation or at least the common perception of that situation is, frankly, absurd. That offence should be entirely judged by the recipient is absurd. That people should act in this way is absurd and no different from the cheat who dives in the box for a penalty. Yet even the courts have capitulated to this madness and society in general is awed by the victim and the craving for victimhood. So Gersnet needn't feel unduly guilty, there are bigger fish that have lost sight of reality.
-
No we don't ..... we need a good manager. Two completely different things.
-
The one indisputable fact in all this is that it was a penalty. The only one who should be apologising is Miller for making such an arse of taking it.

I can't see your problem and your post unnecessarily overly defensive. For clarity, I have no problem waiting a day or ten days, in fact time was never an issue that entered any of my posts. Neither have I even once claimed to be hard done by in any of this, that's your viewpoint alone and only you seem to think I'm feeling 'stifled'. In fact the emotion all seems to be flowing from the Gersnet direction from what I can see ...... I might not like the idea of being censored, I might even post to that effect, but don't for a moment think it took up more of my attention than the time to type a few words. On the other hand, I didn't particularly like being described as silly when that seemed rather personal and uncalled for. What seems to have caused some irritation was my decision to open this particular thread but it might be worth considering that while you and I had exchanged pm's, no one else had any explanation of why the thread had been closed - it might have been more appropriate to leave this thread where it was and post an explanation of what was happening. I'm sure tidiness could have been achieved just as effectively after the original thread was re-opened. So there:flipa: -

Sorry but (as you'd probably expect) I don't see anything silly at all and see your dismissal of my concerns as unnecessary. You may have the benefit of hindsight but the facts as they stood at the time I wrote my previous post were that the thread in question had been closed without explanation. Several pm exchanges with admin only received in return a denial that the thread had been closed at all, which seemed understandably strange. Even when the thread closure was finally recognised, it did not appear to be possible to say why this had happened or to re-open the thread. While this may be perfectly understandable from your perspective, those of us less well informed about site policy could only see that a thread had been inexplicably closed immediately after mention of the inability to use the word 'fenian'. I posted the OP above on the main Rangers forum to ensure my concern over what (understandably) looked like censorship didn't lose visibility and since it clearly referred to a closed thread on that forum it seemed reasonable that it remained there, at least until the matter was resolved. I've no real interest whether you think this is justified or not but I do think you could have found a better description than silly.
