  1. King has resolved his tax issues in South Africa. Rangers debt in 2009 was 41 million taking into account the money owed to loyds and the monies owed to other clubs for outstanding transfers. The debt has been halfed in that two year period. There is also the manner in which previous Lloyds employees (messers Keane and co) handled the situation at Rangers providing many stumbling blocks in the boardroom.

King and Murray were not in a position to bargain two years ago given the amount of debt (nor whyte for that matter) but the club is now a far more attractive proposition now that debt has been halved. withe the removal of Keane and his chums from the Lloyds banking group it has been suggested that murray and king would find better favour when dealing with Lloyds and would have a far better chance of brokering a deal with the bank.

I personally would like to see new faces in the boardroom. We need fresh ideas and different ways of thinking right now. These guys are the same ones who sat with their mouths firmly closed when David murray was running the club into the ground and did nothing. like some others on this site i believe self interest from the boardroom is the main driving force behind the second bidders with scant regard for the fans or the good of the club.

and that is a very dangerous game to be playing with the future of Rangers Football Club.

You make some good points but I have to take issue with something you and many others are saying or inferring ... that the current board have failed to speak up during David Murray's period of ownership. How do we know they did not speak up against the current regime, individually or collectively, officially or otherwise? Where is the evidence of this? Who has scrutinised the board minutes and who believes dissent would have been minuted anyway?

I'm not going out of my way to defend anyone for the board's performance during recent years but it's altogether another thing to condemn people for failing to affect change in a regime where one person controls over 90% of the club. Directors have a legal duty to act both in compliance of the law and in the interest of the shareholders - and that means in the interest of David Murray. Perhaps they should but the fact is the Directors are not there to act in your interest or mine. That's just a fact, however unpalatable.

  2. I've heard it said that the only meaningful role of the football club chairman is to deliver finances for the manager. in any case, why would any Rangers supporter have a problem with our chairman wanting two rival bids competing for the club, wherever they come from?

We need to get our heads round two fact. Firstly that the end game is only just beginning and secondly that we should only judge the merits of the bidding parties if we actually have some facts at our disposal. Speculation about who is most suitable is, above all, pointless.

  3. The only way to fully defuse the situation and perhaps to wrong foot the bheast in the process would be for the Rangers supporters to make a declaration directly and independently to UEFA, renouncing said songs and committing to a different future. Somehow can't see it happening but the effect would be most wholesome. What a pity certain people made such a right royal fuck up of the RST eh?

  4. Have to agree MF. In all honestly, if we don't win the EBT tax case there might be no other option no matter who the owner is. I stand by the belief that it's better if a takeover doesn't go through until after this HMRC case because then everyone will know how the club REALLY stands financially.

I think you're hitting the nail on the round flat bit. Having got here at last, there seems no advantage in rushing to a conclusion that I can see.

I'm more worried about SDM trying to push through a sale quickly if the terms of the Whyte deal suit him - and if it suits SDM then you can be damn sure it will be at our expense. We can wait a little longer.

  5. I agree with Mad Joe - Celtic should pull out of their remainig fixtures forthwith. The stupidity in doing so will hand the title to Rangers, the Scottish Cup to Motherwell and will also lose his club untold monies. With 6 games left they will still get 2nd place. Which is what they will get even if they complete their fixtures.

Muppet. And that is having just read the first piece of his drivel.

You've got to love Mad Joe, who's given us untold hours of fun over the years. Bonkers but never dull.

  6. Chaps, it's much better to go through this now than a prolonged period of infighting after a deal goes through. Keep the faith, these are all Rangers people we're talking about but the takes are high and they're entitled to want to win. Stop the nonsense about this damaging the club - the state we're in does anyone think a few more scratches on the paintwork will really make any difference.

  7. We could do with a little competition. If Craig Whyte is going to run off at the first sign of a challenge then he's definitely not the owner we need - but I doubt he will. It would be reasonable to hope some people might think Rangers worth fighting over. I think the real game is only just starting and we need to accept that it could run for a while yet ...or not.

  8. wot u on about timmy????

Oh,I better not start with silly craic again:grin:

Wtf are you smoking these days?

(no chemical formulae, price and source will do)

  9. What i really like about this board is there are no egos. You can speak your mind with out being called a Tim poster and most people seem to be fairly educated people. There's not a tonne of stuff about Northern Ireland or daft wee boys that text talk.

    Make that very educated!

    FGAU

  10. Now hearing from other forums King is in talks with Murray? how does this new 'compare the takeovers' square for you?

How about this for some radical thinking, why don't King and Whyte make a joint bid for Rangers or would egos get in the way for what's the best for our beloved club.

    It's not David Murray though.

  11. Got to say it's interesting to see a flock of evacuees from FF on here. I chucked it after the weekend and I wont be back on for some time. I don't really want to go into the reasons but hopefully this place is a little more laid back than over there.

You'll not miss it. Good to have you here but watch out for the erratic, piss-taking trouble makers. That bastard Zappa is the worst but just complain as soon as he appears.

  12. I am agog here Maineflyer, you would rather see Murray stay in power for the foreseeable future, rather than have someone else in charge soon and at least trying to repair the damage done to our club by Murray?

Enjoy your agogrity. You know only too well I would like to have seen Murray gone ten years ago but one dishonest fukker being replaced by another is going to do nothing but prolong the agony. Neither you nor I have any reason to see Whyte as a good owner and I think we should do before supporting his case.

  13. Does that mean you're suspicious of Whyte? Even though his source claimed they'd put 52 m straight into the bank? LBG are happy, MIH are happy. What's left?

What I think is that only those with the facts in front of them are in a position to judge this. AJ heads up the committee charged with scrutinizing Whytes terms and his statement is the ONLY information we have as to the suitability or otherwise of Whyte's offer. The rest of it is a mixture of uninformed gossip, speculation and malicious shit stirring, in which case why wouldn't I welcome AJ's statement.

I would also expect everyone to be suspicious of Whyte - it's a bit late to be suspicious after the event.
