  1. boss , why should you appologise , why when people are getting led by the nose should you appologise for a very decent resume of our next " king in the making's " business history , why when we dont have a media capable or is that interested in our future should you appologise for making a very well written point bringing into question someone who would ask 45,000 fans to hand over £1000 each plus a membership fee , not that we dont want fan participation but at what cost .

At least someone asked , so why appologise

  2. As the final whistle sounds, many of us will be heading to our Christmas parties - the Rangers Media and RST dinners, on the same night, on the same street, at the same time. Let’s hope we have reason to celebrate and that we all have a ball.

Big Fight Big Fight , can we see this on pay per view or have BBC Alba came in with a last minute bid

Seriously boss your artice was excellent and certainly took the debate to another level , keep up the good work

  3. Calscot you may have missed the whole point of my post , in no way was I trying to compare apples with oranges , however the fans back then would not have settled for what we are witnessing now , we are basically in a two horse race every season back then you had Dundee Utd and Aberdeen giving us a doing , and we were nearly in as bad a way back then financially as we are now, I dont know how much a £6 million debt in 84 equates to in today's money but it's a hell of a lot .

Today we are so far infront of other teams it's beyond a joke , we regularily are 20 odd points in front of third place teams and that's when we are having a shit season , yet we are still no further forward when you compare us to ordinary european sides , I do take on board your point about the EPL making every one's view distorted but hey that's the world we live in

  4. I am a recently joined member of Gersnet and I have to say with all due respect to everyone, but you are all a bit of a Rangers Anoraks. I have been a Rangers supporter for 45 years and before I started to post on this forum I honestly knew nothing of the various factions of Rangers supporters. I had of course heard the names banded about, RST, The Assembly etc, but I had no idea of their function or ideology. I may again be ignorant of this, but I think the majority of fans dont care much about any of those organisations, simply because they seem exclusive to the ordinary Bear on the terracing (stand). There is a vast untapped reservoir of supporter who has no allegiance to any body but would like to become involved at a deeper level than they are currently at, the group who can successfully tap into this reservoir will have the loyalty of these fan. And by far the biggest vote to secure any mandate put before the Rangers family.

Welcome aboard mate , what you say is very true ,but there is also a great deal of apathy about Rangers supporters in general and that has been around since we were spoiled by Murray's first great ten years when everything was possible , NIAR delivered , players arrived and went at a great speed , we were indestructable , even european defeats were allowed in the great NIAR chase , a small few either Number 8 or the Gub wrote in the FF fanzine about the disaster that was about to happen and the majority myself included , oh how we laughed , who's laughing now.

I remember the fans protesting against John Greig's teams and outside the stadium , eventually they let their feet do the talking and change happened though that was a different era , the majority fans of today will and have accepted what ever dross is put in front of them and they still return .

The online community is very very small and in this community there is and are a small number with way too much of a high opinion of themselves , take your time , read the posts and make your own mind up , however do not be averse to new ideas or even polar opposites , there are many very very clever people on here .

However I have one wish above all and that is one day soon we are all posting about the games and the players on the park and the politics are a long long memory

  5. There's no great pleasure in continually repeating the same thing but this notion of anyone being "anti-RST" really does need refuting. Some things most certainly are being criticised but not the existence of a Rangers Supporters Trust.

I have yet to find any Rangers supporter, posting on any message board, who has expressed hinself/herself as anti-RST. Not once. If any of those posting here know different then please show the example. Otherwise, please stop the defence of a false premise.

What is under scrutiny here and what I, among others, are vigorously critical of is the performance of the Trust, together with the strategy and conduct of some of its leading lights. No one wants an end to the RST - quite the opposite. We want to see an end to the dysfunctional nonsense that has hobbled its achievements, particularly during the last two year, and we want to see a RST growing in size and influence.

I have several times advocated that the RST should be the only body representing Rangers fans and an end to all other existing organisations. But not until it is flushed clean of the personality cult that currently drives and ruins it.

So please, let's all stop this shite about an "anti-RST" sentiment that simply does not exist. The RST is not Mark Dingwall or Stephen Smith and the sooner they accept that fact, the sooner the RST can start functioning again.

I think this sums up the thoughts and feelings of many maineflyer and the point you make about present RST board members is very succinct , it is very very easy to make constructive critiscism turn into a negative by focusing on personalities ,I see this every day in my organisation where bad managers make any suggestions or well critiscism's into attacks on them as it deflect's and dilutes the point .

Management of all types , and Murray was a master of this in his early haydays , made people who critiscized him out to be negative and anti Rangers , and it certainly quietened a lot of journalists , bullshit baffles brains as they say.

At present we have an RST board faced with , for possibly the only time , an opportunity to get what they want and we all want Fan ownership . Certain RST members have went further than others , however some are a wee bit more wise , as one quoted on a FF debate tonight , and I have included the whole post in case I am accused of selective posting , the highlighted part is the interesting it.

Well said! During the GersPride conference I had a chance to speak with James Proctor, who is the development officer for supporters direct Scotland and a Raith Rovers fan. I asked him how on earth, particularly with the time constraints involved, we get a huge fanbase together that is as split in so many ways as ours. Needless to say James didn't know but reckoned where to start would be to find common ground with each faction, ie the betterment of Rangers Football Club. How we achieve that and with whom is where the fractures re-emerge! Now our current chairman was installed with the mandate to find the club a buyer. Many, including myself, thought this was a great move as AJ is one of the most well connected men in sport today, and a wealthy man to boot. From the outside looming in it would appear the extent of his efforts so far would appear to be "Gonnae pyoor buy ra club n'at" to a group of corporate guests pre match in Bucharest. Indeed it seems while AJ dithers, the fans are taking it upon themselves to try and get this done asap.

The trust, and the assembly and association (but mainly the trust IMHO) will stand or fall according to what happens next. Get a result and they will stand vindicated of all allegations directed at them. However if this consortium are not the real deal, not serious bidders or don't have the credentials or the clout then the trust IMHO are dead in the water for all time. They will never be taken seriously again. Not by the fans nor any other interested parties and certainly not by the club. This is why I expressed my concern to David Edgar this morning about lumping all the trust's eggs into one (consortium) basket.

Now I am not on here to stick up for anyone but the posters on here who constructively critiscize the RST board , IMHO are only saying what the poster above is saying and if god help us that happens we are really knackered , we need to stick together but when there is any critiscism from outside FF or even from long established posters the cry goes out , " they have a problem with the RST" , " they would prefer Rangers to fail rather than support us " instead of actually reading what is being posted or listening to the tone of the post .

A prime example was Boss's expose of Duffy , now I am no business guru but my wife owns and runs a very successful small manufacturing company and is responsible for finance and though she's knows the square root of heehaw about football she is very savey about company accounts , when she read his article I asked her what her opinion was of Duffy , needless to say it was less than impressive bordering on him being a crook , her words not mine , now the point of this was , instead of reacting in a positive manner and answering these points , what transpired was a hatchet job of not only Boss but just about everyone else that happened to agree with the points raised .

My head is totally done in after reading all the various posts from people much smarter than this average bear , but what I do know is we will live or die as a support over this issue , for it has the ability to either split us assunder or alternatively unite us into the support we should be that can drive this club forward to successes not even imaginable a few months ago , the people who sit on the assembly , association and RST must be made aware of their position and the need for their personnal ambitions to be put a side for the greater good .

We have a wealth of knowledge out here in webland it should be utilised not derided .

  6. It would be interesting to find out if there has been or even is an increase in RST members since this all started ,the amount of pro RST threads and posts on FF is amazing , just wondered if they were all talk and no action or if they actually felt strong enough to act on what they were hearing and reading

  7. There you go adding stuff afterwards again.... ;)

Like I say, that is good news if that is shown to be the case. So the Trust have not had any negotiations with Duffy at all then?

This was the reply from DavidRST when I asked about Duffy ,

Because his partners wish to remain anonymous doesn't mean we don't know who they are. Similarly, there seems to be an assumption that we didn't know the stuff in that article until we read it.

Like I say, we aren't committing to anything or anybody yet.

They may not have talked to Duffy but that isn't the inferrence I take from this answer , I might be totally wrong but there you go .

  8. You don't need big money to win the SPL. I don't see why we're so scared of change. Foreign countries have a much more advanced outlook on football and aren't afraid to quickly try a new manager if need be. We've stuck through years of watching dross. Even winning trophies domestically never hid how pish we were.

We tried that with leGuen and the no money option , need I remind you how that ended up

  9. OK, how about the bank taking over the club and performing the share issue, basically getting their 31M back in the process?

I suppose the risk of failure means that they could end up with ownership of a loss making company and really would be running the club along strict business lines.

So can't the bank and SDM get together to do something?

In the end I think the biggest problem is that I can't see the fans raising more than about 10-20M, and there would be nobody left to guarantee the loans - especially as the likes of the stadium is only valuable on paper as a home for a very large football club based in Govan...

This is a very good point and one I am surprised our media chums haven't picked up on , you cannot compare what would happen now with the last share issue , as back then everyone had lost face with SDM and that's one reason in my opinion why the shareholders myself included didn't touch it

  10. Morning all,

Firstly, I would like to repeat that the Trust is primarily concerned about two things; what is good for Rangers and the furtherment of widespread, meaningful supporter-ownership. In that order. It is not up to us to decide what is good for Rangers on behalf of anyone else though and we are not attempting to do that - but if we believe things are moving in the right direction generally, we are on-side. That is a pragmatic position to take IMHO.

The situation with Graham Duffy, as I see see it, is like this. He has stepped forward and - because we are talking about a consortium - I suspect he will simply be the first of several faces to do so as things develop. He is the only person to step forward up to this point though, hence the 'only show in town' comment.

I would also speculate that anyone in his position will be fully aware that probes into his background will occur, most prominently in an often-hostile and sensationalist media. I would be surprised if he had not foreseen this and I can only assume that this was regarded by him and his partners as something which would not be detrimental overall. They would be pretty stupid if they didn't see these things coming.

So I further assume that Duffy and his partners feel they will emerge with their credibility intact. How they achieve this I don't know - but if they fail then they will not get the support of the Trust (or Rangers fans, I imagine) going forward. If (if) Duffy can clear the questions up, then naturally I'd hope that no damage has been done as a result of inconclusive suggestions indirectly fed to the media by Rangers fans.

The chucking of stones between message-boards and mischief-making, I'm not getting into. As I've said consistently before, I find it tiresome, disappointing and totally counter-productive for Rangers.

Morning UCB , good post especially about the inter message board mischief making but I suppose we will have to live with it such is the world we live in , however with regards to Duffy why if he was or is part of a consortium would he break cover the way he did , I would have expected a fully briefed plan ready to be laid out to the fans instead of the I will be releasing details later quote, and especially since he was aware that the NOTW were about to do a story on him , so who's benefit did this serve us or him,I wonder

  11. The amount of flim flamming that is going on in the" Duffy no thanks "thread on FF is amazing , the amount of RST members that are contradicting themselves and contradicting what they said on barrybaldy's thread is amazing . On one hand Stevie Smithsays that he hasn't spoken to Duffy and that the news of the world story is bolloks , then DavidEdgar says " Because his partners wish to remain anonymous doesn't mean we don't know who they are. Similarly, there seems to be an assumption that we didn't know the stuff in that article until we read it."

Only time will tell but there is far too much rubbish getting posted ,one thing is certain Duffy isn't the answer

  12. A white knight has finally materialised to save Rangers.

Jesus Christ, a prominent and much-worshipped figure at both Rangers and Celtic over many years, has opted to back the boys in blue.

"I have lingered long over this decision, but my mind is made up. I cannot remain in the shadows while the Rangers are in need of divine intervention".

"I shall save the club and give it to the people, the chosen ones; they who deserve better".

The revelation came as a shock to Ibrox fans, but immediately some doubt was cast on Christ`s ability to beneficially intervene.

"He has a criminal record", observed one Ibrox fan while another declared that his unruly appearance was not in keeping with the club`s strict dress code. "No way is the top man at Ibrox going to be accepted wearing a skirt and sandals", he opined.

Christ`s favoured long-haired look did not endear itself either. "We don`t want a poof in charge", said one supporter who preferred to remain anonymous.

Christ hasn`t been to Ibrox for some time, but he admitted to having looked down on the old place from time to time over the years and believes the club`s finest-ever servant was Tom Vallance.

"They don`t make them like that any more", he declared.

Asked about his feelings for Celtic, Jesus admitted that he was fond of them too. "Of course I love Celtic. Loving the enemy comes naturally to me".

Christ has apparently been in talks with the RST for several weeks but both parties agreed to keep the meetings secret. "I`m really honoured to have met the RST people, said Jesus, "especially David Edgar".

Asked what he could bring to the table, Jesus modestly replied, "I can walk on water and turn water into wine, but I`ll have my work cut out getting Walter to play an adventurous 4-4-2".

With the press pack lapping up his every word, there was just one discordant note. "What about the bigotry"?

Graham Spiers (the discredited journalist) (the discredited journalist), Scottish football`s self-appointed moral crusader was in the room.

"You may continue to write about it", said Jesus, "and don`t hold back on the ******s".

Radio Clyde`s Hugh Keevins followed up with his tuppence-worth. "The Celtic support will be unhappy that you`ve sided against them, Jesus".

"They`ve still got the Pope", said Jesus, with a cheeky grin breaking out on his countenance, "and Glasgow City Council".

"Do you have a message for Rangers supporters", asked the BBC`s Chick Young?

"I do indeed, Chick", replied Christ.

    "Don`t vote Labour"!

And with a swish of his kaftan, Christ rose to his feet and left the room with a song in his heart.

    "Sure it`s old ...

  13. Good question.

The proper protocols, as far as I am aware, is that an interested party will notify their interest in the business and will enter into a non-disclosure agreement (effectively a confidentiality agreement) and, once signed off (which needs to be done by both interested party and current owner(s) ) they will be allowed to enter into their due diligence.

The confidentiality wouldn't necessarily preclude the interested party from declaring their interest but it will most definitely prevent them from making public any information that they obtain during the due diligence process.

SDM would most definitely be aware of this - assuming of course, that the "100k of due diligence" is from bona fide due diligence and not from Duffy's own team working out strategic plans etc prior to going to SDM/Lloyds/Rangers to request proper due diligence.

So basically the quote about the £100,000 for due diligence , could be bullshit , sorry ignore this point as it,s a bit stupid . The whole Duffy thing could be bullshit .

  14. It can make a huge difference. It can be very difficult/impossible to get the full picture. It's relatively easy for companies to hide some of their wealth in places like Bermuda, where there is no requirement to produce or file accounts.

The very fact a consortium, if in fact that is what is behind this , decided to choose this guy as the face of Revolution worries me , I wouldn't give him any of my hard earned , perception and image is everything and this guy looks like a del boy

Craig you mentioned that they had spent or rather were reported to have spent £100K on due diligence , now if that is true then surely Murray would be aware of this small fact , I may not be the brightest at this but surely you need approach the business you want to buy if you are carrying this out

  15. Since Advocatt had to leave due to various reasons , in my opinion all Murrays expectations and hopes went with him , since then we have been on a downward spiral of costcutting and down sizing , our support has continually been told to expect less whilst paying more .

The middle paragraph of maineflyer's post is possibly the most accurat summation of our current position that I have read in a long while . We are a club with no direction and even worse no ambition , our entire being seems to be getting through each season without losing a fortune , whilst paying average players a fortune in wages and bonuses .

I do not have a chrystal ball and I cannot even get a winner on the fixed odds , but I hope for all our sakes that our fortune changes and changes very soon in the respect of any new owner must have a drive and a vision to match the support , if not god knows what the future holds

  16. Unless there is big money to appoint a new man and give him transfer funds in january then it is pointless talking about changing Walter now , we will just have to muddle through as usual and cling on to the hope that our main rivals are just as pish as us , their next few games are quite tasty so hopefully they will drop some more points as well as getting pumped out of europe on wednesday
