  1. Yes, but from what WS has been saying, I don't think that's what we bought him for. Of course, he can provide cover for the left wing, but I think he's impressed as a striker. Just remember that Lovenkrands is also very versatile and can play in virtually any attacking role.
  2. ...but more than McCulloch, Adam or Whitaker will ever be.
  3. I can understand that the support would be divided on this one. He was very inconsistent in his first spell. However, I still think he'd manage more games in a season than Burke and Beasley put together. Also, he knows the club and wants to come back, taking a 'huge' wage cut in the process apparently. That says to me that he's got the right attitude.
  4. Yes of course, because we've got plenty of wingers.
  5. Personally, I blame Martin Bain as it's been going on ever since he started dealing with transfer negotiations. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he gets a pat on the back from DM every time it works out.
  6. http://www.theherald.co.uk/sport/football/display.var.2403897.0.Dane_hints_return_to_Ibrox_still_possible.php I'd welcome him back. Depends on the fee, seeing as we could get him on a pre-contract in Jan.

    Schalke!!

Sorry Jon. I don't do gay-chat :lol :fish: Nah seriously, I do agree with your views on Boyd (as a player) and will continue to defend him when the need arises. He IS our best striker afterall.

    Schalke!!

I think that depends what 'views' you're on about  I have to agree about Buffel though. He's undoubtedly a talented player, but only showed it in glimpses. I'd say it was more than 2 games but all the same, despite being given numerous chances, he failed to make the sort of impact he was capable of far too often. The same could be said about Sionko and like I've said before, I think it was just down to a poor attitude. Even the man who brought Buffel to Rangers apparently wasn't interested, despite him being available on a free. In the end he had to go back home with his tail between his legs, mumbling nonsense about bigger clubs being after him. Well, they obviously weren't prepared to pay him what we were. Good riddance
  9. When we say 'we're not going to pay over-the-odds for players', to me that translates to 'we're only going to offer £1-2m less than what the player's worth and if at first we don't succeed...'. Business-wise that may be quite shrewd but in our current situation I think we simply need to make sure we have enough midfielders in the squad. If that means ending our interest in Davis and bringing in 1 or 2 other options instead then that's fine by me. However, as things stand it's just not good enough.
  10. We were already 4 midfielders down from last season (Davis, Faye, Burke & Buffel) before Ferguson & Beasley got injured. That's six midfielders we're short of for the start of the season. Even though Beasley should only be out for a couple of weeks, I wasn't counting Naismith and Gow then, who were both played on the wing at times last season. I think we are clearly looking a bit thin in the midfield dept. As much as I agree with what Walter's saying about looking for players who can improve the team, I think we really need to get this sorted. At the very least, one midfielder needs to be brought in and I think Davis has already shown that he CAN improve the team. If there aren't any other options ATM why are we messing around with the Davis transfer?. This is dragging on for way too long and Fulham don't look like they're going to budge. These kind of signing tactics may have worked for us on a couple of occassions, but more often than not, they've worked against us (i.e. a certain SPL top scorer springs to mind). Also, let's face it, we're hardly dealing with Kilmarnock here. Fulham are just trying to recoup most of what they paid for Davis. I think it's time that we either pay up or admit defeat and say we're no longer interested.

    Schalke!!

    I'd go for: -------------Alexander------------- Broadfoot----Dailly----Weir-----Papac Novo---Thomson--Hemdani--Whittaker---Fleck ----------Miller / Velicka----------
  12. Yes this is true and as much as 'ye can stick yer KM up yer ar$e' was a catchy little ditty, the fact of the matter is he wasn't playing FOR US at the time. Well, I didn't want to see us signing Miller either but apparently for different reasons from yourself. So if the rest of us are unfortunate enough that you get your wish and 'win the day' then you can tell Dick Advocaat, George Burley et all that they're shite as well I've got no doubt whatsoever that'll be the case. Fun and games eh? :box:
  13. As much as it was frustrating at times to watch Broadfoot play RB last season (and that's puting it mildly) I still think he's a better option in that position than Dailly. The most annoying thing with Broadfoot (and you'll notice I'm not calling him KB just to avoid any confusion ) was that he had one of his best games towards the end against his old club and was then inexplicably dropped. Was WS thinking he had finally vindicated himself for playing him at RB for half the season? OK ...that wasn't THE most annoying thing about Broadfoot. I've got WAY too many gripes on that one to even get started listing them. All the same, he's not really that bad, at least as backup, for the position. Just don't let him take ANY more throw-ins. I agree that we could use another full back, but with what money's left in the kitty we really need to get the midfield sorted first.
  14. It's just just a product of mob mentality Frankie. We're inundated by mhedia negativity and wind-up merchant timposters ATM. They're f*cking everywhere - on the phone-ins, writing into the tabloids, writing FOR the tabloids and ESPECIALLY on internet forums. Can I just say at this point that gersnet is much better off on this front than most (take a look over on 606)...but not immune. The trouble is that we've got so many real Gers fans in our midst that actually buy into the crap they're spouting and then it's out with the pitch-forks and bring in the boo-boys. We've all got reason from time to time to get annoyed with the way things are going for our club. That's just part and parcel of being a football fan. It's just annoying to see this sort of propeganda having it's desired effect on us.
  15. It'll be funny to see all the Boo-boys cheering on Lovenhimself ...if he gets a game that is. :fish:
  16. Handwrinigng? Deflected? It's not a question of holding your tongue. The way I see it, we can all say whatever we like ON HERE about the players and management. Vent our fury as much as we want about poor decisions and form. There's a BIG difference between that and shouting 90 mins worth of abuse at the team on the park. It's a free country (or at least it's supposed to be) so noone's telling you what to do and what not to do here. I'm just pointing out the difference between being supportive through offering encouragement and being a selfish arrogant twit. Here ...Deflect this
  17. Hey all I'm saying is that Booing your own players isn't very supportive
  18. It's not about our reputation as Rangers fans. Booing or not booing our own players is going to make any difference to our reputation. Even in the case of KM, I don't think it'll have any effect on his game as the lad's expecting as much from us anyway. However, we're supposed to SUPPORTING our team. You can pay your way in and think that's supporting them, but that's just giving the club financial support and won't make any difference whatsoever as to how the team performs on the park. The fact is that if you BOO your own players, you've got no right to call yourself a Gers supporter.
  19. Well they're all capable of scoring a hat-trick, even KM according to one vote so far Who's most likely to do it though?
  20. I don't really understand why people focus on Boyds limitations so much. Sure he's got a lot to learn still, but so do most of the other players his age who are in the team. The talk about Boyd only being able to score against the 'diddy teams' is absolute nonsense cooked up by our rivals simply because they fear him. How so many of our support could be so gullible as to buy into that crap is beyond me. As for the lone striker role, IMO when he was given the chance last season away in Greece, he actually did quite well. Better than you'd expect Novo or McCulloch to do in his place at least. I think that if Boyd can improve on certain aspects of his game over the next couple of seasons, he WILL undoubtedly be the best striker we've had since McCoist. I think Velicka looks like a good addition to the squad, but I don't really see what he's done yet to win the confidence of the support that Boyd hasn't. And one other thing - Are we all best pals with Cousin again or something? Did I miss the memo? Personally I've never had a problem with him (apart from the headbutting) but it seems the lynch mob amongst our support has disspersed all of a sudden.
  21. As much as we all love to say how sh*te they are, do Celtic count as tricky opposition? I'm sure there are a few top clubs out there who would say they do.
  22. I DID say 'current squad' Tell, you what. I'll simplify it further and make it a 4-4-2 in 'yer average' SPL game. ...and YES, Naismith is injured ...but he's in there anyway, even if it's just for the sympathy vote.
  23. Out of the current Rangers squad which player, given 90mins of playing time, is most likely to score a hat-trick ?? Seems like a simple enough question to answer. :box: FORMATION = 4-4-2 COMPETITION = SPL
  24. Nah, the £5m was just a downpayment on 1st years wage ...obviously
