  1. I reckon he's worth it. He's young, versatile, got bags of experience for his age and he's a bluenose. I'd like to see him playing a more central role, preferably attacking mid, letting Barry sit back and spray passes arround. If we're still playing a 4-5-1 as much next season, I don't see why we couldn't have Davis in there with Ferguson and Thomson. If not, then I still think he'd get more game time than Lafferty next season. I know we weren't prepared to pay that much for Broon last season (thankfully) but this season we need quality more than quantity. The lads already proven himself. Time to pay up Mr Murray.

    Alan Gow

Did anyone see the players arriving back after winning the UEFA semi?. All of them were full of smiles, except for Buffel and Gow who were straggling at the back with their faces like thunder. Not sure if I'm reading into things too much but I've got a suspicion that Gow hasn't exactly gelled too well with the other Scottish lads. It could be to do with the family bereavment that he suffered around the time he joined last summer which would be understandable. Or it could just be that he's developed an attitude problem what with being stuck in the reserves all last season. Either way I get the impression he's become a bit of an outcast. Shame too, as I've heard a lot of good things about him.
  3. but who would we replace him with?. Alexander has done enough to prove himself as a capable deputy, but nothing more than that. As far as I'm concerned McGregor is the best keeper in Britain right now. How much does it cost to buy that sort of quality?. The Hutton deal I can almost understand as at least as the fans were concerned he was a good player with potential - then rubbish - then brilliant for about 6 months before we punted him. With McGregor it's not the same. Wattereus said he didn't know why we signed him as McGregor was such a good keeper. Even LeGuen realised this as soon as he had a chance to get a look at him. In the current market, McGregor is a 10-15 million pound keeper (at least if he was already playing in the EPL). Unless someone comes in with a ridiculous offer, there's no way we should be letting him go.
  4. Possibly But you'll still be the one eating your words within a couple of seasons if we do sell him
  5. Agreed Bluedell. He didn't hand him the no.9 shirt for no reason. I reckon he and Coisty have been working on his all-round game in the background, whilst shielding him from the cr*p he would get if they continued to drop him in at the deep end week-in, week-out. Personally I think they can turn him into one of the best strikers in Europe. Time will tell
  6. Maybe a worst midfielder poll would be easier to decide on
  7. I really hope not. I still can't believe we allowed Everton to pinch him for so little.
  8. Nice anagram there As far as I'm concerned, all the daily rags are as bad as one another. Just bullsh*t, followed by contradiction, then some more bullsh*t. Trouble is that so many football fans lap it up as FACT. Don't get me wrong, I keep up to date with the headlines myself. I just need to keep remininding myself to take it with a pinch of salt until it's OFFICIAL. Actual transfers aside, IMO the best news we could get this season is an article on the Rangers website confirming that Cuellar, McGregor and Boyd have all had their contracts extended.

    Kris Boyd

Certainly, when we're playing the 4-5-1, I'd tend to agree with your mates that Boyd isn't the best striker to start with. That's not to say that I think the lone strikers role is beyond him ...just that we had others last season who were better suited. For the moment at least, I think even Kenny Miller's better in that role, but I truely believe that if Rangers play 3 or 4 games on the trot next season with Miller on his lonesome, then the knives will definitely be out. IMO, the potential partnership between himself and Boyd could be KM's only saving grace.

    Kris Boyd

OK here's one - 'we could see a Kris Boyd who scores goals again' When exactly did Boyd go through a dry period? As for the 'mixed feelings' amongst the support, like I said previously there are sections of the support unfortunately who always need to have a target for their criticism. So if we're talking about criticism amongst the paying support, I have no doubt that it exists, albeit no more than for any of the other usual suspects. Even then there's probably some numpties amongst our support who'd want rid of Cuellar and McGregor also. On the other hand if we're talking about phone-ins, tabloids and internet forums then IMO none of these offer a true reflection of the feelings amongst our support as for every 2-3 genuine fans you've got a sh*t-stirring 'Tic fan pretending to be one of us. Have any of you actually looked at the 606 forums recently?

@ jonc127 - Apologies from the noob over here

    Kris Boyd

This is very true Although I would still stand by my 'prediction' with fair amount of confidence. Not so sure about that. To me at least it seems like Cousin's been criticised for his workrate all season. IMO neither player deserves the criticism they get. The same goes for others like Adam and Burke. I suppose the boo-bhoys amongst our 'support' will always need a target though

    Kris Boyd

I was under the impression that was just the timposters at it again. After all, what 'real' Rangers fan in their right mind would want rid of their top goalscorer?

    Kris Boyd

Just read John Macmillan's comments regarding the Boyd story. Is this guy suffering from some form of dementia?? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3717873,00.html 'Mixed feelings' ??? Correct me if I'm wrong, but since when did any gers fans claim Boyd wasn't good enough? OK, some think he can't play the lone striker role - some disagree, myself included. Some think he can't cut it against better opposition. Again, I disagree. He's currently got the best goals-games ratio by far for the National side. 'They' said he couldn't score against Celtic ...Until he did. The same 'fans' and mhedia pundits who question our top scorer's abilities, no doubt said Alan Hutton was 'no good' not too long ago. That said, despite there being some dissagreement amongst the support over young Boyd's (he is only 24 afterall) current limitations, I can't ever recall a single instance of a Rangers fan saying we should 'get rid'. In fact, I would expect nothing short of an outrage if Boyd was to be sold for 3x the figures being quoted. 'with better players giving him better service, it could change people's attitude and we could see a Kris Boyd who scores goals again' - As opposed to what exactly John??? Where have you been for the past couple of seasons??? Surely our fanbase deserves better representation than this eedjit.
  15. I think we need to stop playing Barry when he's injured. When he's 100% fit he's the best player at Rangers. Even at 80% he's still useful. However, when he's only 50% (ie. not fit enough to play for Scotland) and making excuses in the press about carrying an injury, he shouldn't be playing. If the team can't play without him, then now's the time (transfer window) to do something about it.

    Kris Boyd

Let's put it this way - If Boyd stays at Rangers for another 8-10 years, he will finish his career as top scorer in Rangers history ...as well as the SPL and more than likely for Scotland too. He'll also hold these records for many years. FACT Henceforth, how can we even be discussing what he brings to the team and whether we should keep him
  17. I can't understand why we're signing so many forwards. Afterall this is the area of the team that least needs strengthening. All 4 strikers (Darche, Cousin, Boyd & Novo) were given a reasonable crack at it (albeit through rotation) last season and came up with the goods. Judging by their scoring records, the guys who've just been brought in would be lucky to score as many goals as any of these 4 in a season, even if they started every game. Unless Walter plans on playing 3 up front every week, I just don't get it ...and even then, with a reported £6 million to spend it just seems like a pointless waste of funds. IMO we desperately need a playmaker - a creative, attacking midfielder (Davis??). I think we also need someone in the middle who can offer leadership when Ferguson gets injured (as you would expect him to). This way we won't be playing half the season with our captain at 50%. We also need a right-back as Broadfoot just isn't good enough out there (Whittaker??). As for players leaving, I really hope we can hold on to MacGregor, Cuellar and Boyd as these players should be the foundations of our team for many years to come. I think the amount of critisism that Cousin gets is very unfair. He scored some important goals in big games for us last season and although he went AWOL in a few games, I don't see any of the Scots players who did likewise getting the same abuse from the 'support'. That said, if we're offered anywhere near the £3million that Fulham were prepared to pay in January, I wouldn't be too sorry to see him go. It would also be good to see Buffel removed from the wage bill. I've always rated him highly, but Walter obviously doesn't, so best get rid.
