  1. For goodness sake - must be a quiet night!

Zappa, you genuinely can't see any reason, given the history of Rangers fans' groups, why RST people shouldn't comment on the RF Elections thread? Chris G has just set out his own position of steadfastly refusing to comment on it - I think that's the best policy.

I didn't say I can't see any reason though Andy. For clarity, I completely agree with Craig regarding Fury chiming in when he clearly had good reason to do so and regarding plgsarmy I don't see why she should be excluded from the discussion either when the groups are publicly known to be in talks about a merger along with other fan groups. That doesn't mean I agree with or endorse every single comment from Fury or plgsarmy, but let's at least be fair and endorse open debate within reason.

  2. Ah..there goes my question about conflicts of interest!

In that case, though, I don't think it's good form for RST associated people/members to be weighing in on a RF election thread.

In fairness Andy, plgsarmy knows most of the movers & shakers, has maybe been communicating with some RF people (re - the merger proposals) and also might have an insight on certain matters which none of us do, so I'm not sure why she should stay away from commenting on this type of thread. It's an open forum, so folk are entitled to comment no matter whether any of us agree with them or not.

  3. Good evening Gersnet.

I've been a bit of a lurker here for the last 6 months or so and finally decided to get in aboot it.

Hi guys signed up today after hearing about you on the WWTC pod

Morning all, good to be here, new to all this, cheers for having me...WATP!!:rfc:

Afternoon bears thought it's about time I joined and came over and said hello.

    Welcome to Gersnet folks! :)

  4. I haven't really had time to read about the candidates yet Zappa but should find some time tonight, although I am not sure if that will clarify things much tbh.

I've read all of the info on the candidates and their personal statements and find it quite tough to pick out the ones I'd vote for. There's some obvious standouts in both positive and negative senses, but it's not easy to pick 5 to 7 people to make up a board when you haven't actually met them or even heard them speak.

  5. I take it this poll is for members who have signed up for the Gersnet share buying scheme only.

No, it was decided to leave the voting open for everyone here BM. It was a tough call to make, but because the monies raised for shares were invested into both Rangers First and also the RST's Buy Rangers scheme it seemed like the only logical thing to do.

  6. This poll is specifically for determining Gersnet's votes in the Rangers First board election. You only have 22 Rangers First board candidates to choose from, so please vote wisely and be aware that multiple votes are possible here, so you can essentially vote for a whole board of 5 to 7 people.

For more info on the candidates and their personal statements see here - http://www.rangersfirst.org/candidates/

Please note that as Gersnet members you can all vote in this poll, but in this case your votes will all be private so that other forum members can't see who you vote for.

  7. You know full well I wasn't the source of any complaint against you. However you did complain to Rangers about me prior to the election for the initial board.

You are correct that I complained about you because you were making critical posts about a fellow candidate in the election.

Did you not previously deny any knowledge of the complaint against forlanssister? The complaint lodged in the run-up to the Rangers Fans Board election?

  8. Forlan Sister.

Have you seen any work action towards facilities for the disabled since King took over? I know from reading your previous posts that Ibrox Stadium hadn't moved into the 21st century up to the last time you mentioned this concern.

Are moves in place? Only asking because it's something, like yourself ,I feel is important.

Yes, there have been regular meetings with under the auspices of the Disability Matters Group which consists of Club officials and representatives of disabled fans ( myself included) both physically disabled and mentally disabled.

Progress has been made and a statement will be made in due course (hopefully soon) laying out a pathway forward, however it must be stressed there is no magic wand to be waved and it will take some time to get where we need to be.

That's an interesting choice of words there mate. ;)

Work has indeed been done this season on the disabled side of things in terms of floor markings which are presumably the beginning of a process of works to comply with certain rules and/or standards.

    Hey, it's a start...........

  9. It's highly likely that the SPFL have appointed her to help advise them on ways to tackle the ultras culture and it's harder core elements who throw smoke bombs, flares and other pyros around in football stadiums.

That's my take on it anyway. At first I was thinking she's probably going to advise on tackling what's left of the street fighting 'casuals' and 'firms' culture, but that's mainly a Police matter as opposed to an SPFL matter.

  10. That's true the circumstances are completely different but there is a remarkable comparison in some aspects e.g. the Club imposing the Constitution of the RFB and the Club appointing a consultant to "advise" on the merger proposals.

I still don't see anything worthy of comparison though because even if the Club have hired an adviser for this proposed 'merger' purpose it's logical to assume that mainly he or she would essentially be acting as a mediator between the groups and that's something which is obviously needed, so what's the problem?

  11. I have named all the people who I have been told are involved.

I am not involved and I don't know if the information I have been given is correct nor do I know any other names.

It would appear from your other posts on this subject that are directly involved, so you would know who else is involved.

I would think the biggest concern would be the involvement of the Club in what is supposed to be an independent Fans' Board, which is exactly what happened last time.

If a new unified fans' group is going to work reasonably closely with the Club, then it would seem very prudent for that relationship to begin at the outset so that solid foundations and clear lines of communication are built and developed from square one.

That's more or less exactly what was said about the Rangers Fans' Board.

Given the drastically different circumstances, I don't see any tangible comparison whatsoever between the formation of the RFB and what is supposedly now being discussed regarding merging fans' groups.

  13. Maurice Malpas was about the best left back I've seen, an elegant player way ahead of his time. We've not had anyone special at left back for years, he would have been excellent.

My brother & I were talking about our recent left backs last night and came to the conclusion that in a defensive sense Sasa Papac is probably the best left back we've had in the past decade and that's slightly unusual considering that he was actually a central defender. In a way it's a bit like Bougherra who obviously played centrally for us, but played at right back for Algeria and always looked like he'd make an excellent right back for us if we'd played him there regularly.

  14. Nope, lad from Stranraer mate, so I suppose he has an excuse to get out the car park early but it wouldn't be me driving all that way then missing goals at the end.

I left the Falkirk game 15 minutes early because I was cooking a family meal that evening and I wanted to get the car out of the car park and get on the road before the gridlock. Got to the carpark exit and a jobsworth plod wouldn't let me out.

A Billy King winner and 45 minutes later she finally let me out into the gridlock. :seal:

    Never again.
