  1. Brilliant mate, thanx for that. Amazing to think (the third one down) our main stand in 1888 was no bigger than one of the compartments we use to sell the bovril and pies now!!!
  2. Good point PP. I also noted that some so called 'ffotball experts' said Rangers do stand a chance of gaining a good financial backer because these people are after the Champions league money and glory. Apparantly they are more interested in financing a team like Rangers who have a very decent chance to be in the Champions league each season due to being in such a poor league. The same experts also said the likes of West Ham, Bolton, etc wont get these backers before us because of this very reason.
  3. Intersting how after 3 replies we are already getting a mixed bunch of desires for the club. It's funny how the thought of lying on a ton of money can send your head into an uncontrolable spin. I think Craig made the point that if you have the success but its been bought that the fans deep down would feel some certain kind of guilt at having attained it the way they did. I have to agree with that and im sure id be the same if money was ploughed into our club and we achieved untold greatness, i think i would feel a bit ashamed at having to have bought it. But, i couldnt pass up an opportunity like that for Rangers. If we had the chance to see how far we could go with the best players in the world, i'm not sure who would pass it over(apart from frankie;) )as it would be too good an opportunity to miss for us Gers fans to watch our club be the best in the world. It is a chance in a lifetime and thats why i will always hope for a buyer like Man Citys. Remember what City were befroe these guys came in. A run of the mill club with mediocre players and no success, fighting off relegation.
  4. We live in a funny time. With most people struggling to survive in a dog eat dog world, there are transfers going on that could bail out most small countries. I got to thinking about what Rangers fans would think if an Arab or Dubai syndicate bought Rangers off of Murray. Most of us would be over the moon with delight, but what many people havent considered is that this syndicate could pull out at any time leaving Man City helpless and facing financial meltdown. So, if a Dubai syndicate wanted to buy Rangers from Murray(and its not an unlikely suggestion as just today an Arab syndicate has shown interest in Chelsea), would you go with it in the short term to gain untold success in sacrafice for long term failure? Imagine tomorrow we are bought by that syndicate. Here are there proposals. 1. unlimited budget to buy the best players in the world. 2. we want Robinho for £100m, KaKa for £150m, Drogba for £20m, John Terry for £90m, Ronaldo for £200m, Rooney for £175m FOR STARTERS. 3. Improve the stadium to an 80,000 seater state of the art facility. 4. for the next five years, to win the Scottish league, gaining Champions league qualification. 5. To win the Champions league at least 3 times 6. To win the World club championship at least once. 7. Try to lobby the authorities to gain membership to the English F.A. 8. Ultimately to win the english premiership and the champions league as Champions of England. If you can imagine all that happened to us. Then, the syndicate pulled out leaving us penniless and we cant get a decent funder, and we spiral back into Scottish football and 10 years without ANYTHING. What would you do? would you take the 5 years of untold success/ Or would you rather we kept trying to build ourselfs up as we are doing the now? Would most Gers fans see that kind of money backing as selling the soul of the club? I wonder what most people would pick?
  5. Thank the lord. No whittaker at Aberdeen then. Phew!!!
  6. I had Burnley to win 3-0 at Full-time, havent picked up my winnings yet, wll let you know. Stuck a tenner on it. Really thought they were gonna do it aswell. I bet they are spitting abuse at the authorities for scrapping the away goal in 90 mins. Had they not done that, Burnley would have won it over 90mins. Shocking that. It's the only competition i know that doesn't have an away goals rule.
  7. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Wake me up when this boring oldcrap has blown over again.
  8. Very informative mate. Thanx for sharing it.
  9. Mainflyer, my post was meant to be taken as a recue package that would rid the club of him, as so many people continue to say 'well, who would you bring in if Murray willingly went?' I think the fans could rescue Rangers, but they would all have to agree to certain terms and be flexible, as people like yourself would probably find things they didnt like and continue to keep their cash. I think most fans would give it a go if Murray went and we had someone in control of finances who knew what they were doing, and, as i said, the fans knew the debt was wiped and the money was going on transfers and wages.
  10. I think teams in the premiership would give him a go. But they won't pay a penny for someone who is constantly injured. It's too risky. We'd have to write him off like Burke.
  11. Heres a post i made 2 days ago under the thread 'Protest against David murray by means of constructive debate'. .... Is this the kind of thing you mean John Lawrence?
  12. Not suprised McCoist didnt stop to sign it. I'd get pee'd off signing things a 1000 times a day too. In saying that though, i suppose he is in a way paid to behave in a manner deserving of good publicity to the club. McCoist signed my programme many years ago aswell as stopping for a photo. Wonder if he has changed his attiude atall.
  13. Algerian internationalist capped around 20 times. Plays anywhere on the left, particularly as a left midfielder or attacking left midfielder, and can aslo play same on the right and as a strker. Has played for Strasbourg before Marseille snapped him up for a free 3 years ago. Not much of a goal scorer, more a provider. Has good technique and a good crosser, a bit of a speed merchant. Looks like he could have problems with injuries though. Info courtosy of FM;)
  14. i kind of feel sorry for the guy considering he has got NOTHING to work with except his knowledge of who he can bring into the squad for peanuts. Must be an unenviable task tbh.
  15. good points, i follow you SA. and it is probably true. I asked if we were playing better football than Celtic, as i haven't noted either team play anything that attractive. But the point you make about us winning the easier games is true i feel
  16. Did you heaer the Sheep shouting "Bring on the Rangers" at the end of the game? Theres a first for everything lol Bring it on sheep:box:
  17. I agree SA. It kind of jumped out when Pete quoted Beyonce;) lol:fish:
  18. Rangers seem to have learned a lesson from last year on how to try and get ahead on goal difference. Last year we were so far behind Celtic in goal difference that in the last few games it was considered as good as an extra point for them. I can't say how important it is to keep ahead in goal difference. The league has been decided in our favour a few times and with Aberdeen denting Celtics bid to increase the points gap to 5 again, the 2 points we are ahead will make us AHEAD of Celtic if we draw two and they lose two. Obviously the points are far more important, but my point is, i'm glad the team has contributed moreover to trying to make our wins more convincing than what they had been recently. Does this indicate that Rangers are playing much more attractive attacking football than Celtic then? I wonder. Keep it up Gers.
  19. Ok, maybe i could have phraseds it better. Fair enuff. I still think the point is correct though SA.
  20. So, starnge that it happened when Boyd wasn't getting a game, and it happens every week when someone plays badly i.e Lee McCulloch, and we say we dont want him played. Don't quite get it where your coming from mate. The fans have historically ALWAYS told the management who they would LIKE to pick, but that isn't to say that it is going to happen. So, in essence what you are saying then is that the fans have no right to say who they want in the team beacause it is the managers opinion SOLELY(sp) that counts. Strange.
  21. Well, well, well. This is a Massive test for us. I agree Gribz. If Rangers are going to win this league, then i'd have to say we need to WIN those three games. It is coming on for february and we must start making a move. Yesterdays win would have put the shiters on Celtic. They'll be thinking they beat us at Ibrox and had the chance to go 10 points clear when they blew it against Hibs(or Hearts cant quite rem.) Now we are right up there ass. Watch the pressure IN cELTICS GAME AT aBERDEEN TOMORROW IF IT GETS TO 20 MINS AND aBERDEEN ARE LEVEL OR AHEAD. Lets see what BOTH teams are made of now.(sorry about caps lock)
  22. I agree entirely mate, well said.
  23. Anyone know what the cost would be to buy Aaron? Maybe we should throw a mil of the player we sell(boyd?) at Valencia for him.
