  1. It's amazing the difference in mentality/culture when it comes to British footballers and those on the continent. In Sweden, half the guys in the national side are studying for some degree or another, there's very rarely a scandal of any sort. Or just compare, say, Andrea Pirlo and Wayne Rooney And then you have your typical English footballer. I'm reminded of Frankie Boyle talking about if the England squad got to write their own World Cup song: Kick it in the goal! Kick it in the goal! Their goal, Not our goal, Kick it in the goal!
  2. And this is where Dave King comes into the picture. Was he a tad disingenuous with the Rangers support about the level of financial commitment?
  3. Yeah, kids killed my participation for a few years.
  4. Well I could For chronology's sake, stick me down for Partick.
  5. I generally look pretty favourably upon the English when it comes to sport, but there hasn't exactly been a plethora of likeable young men in the England football team in the modern era. You sort of draw a blank after Beckham and Lampard.
  6. You have to say, Dembele looks the real deal and they appear to have played a blinder there. They'll no doubt top up their millions from him after a year or two as well.
  7. It's not about dodging Europe. But if you're talking about rebuilding, and about money, then perhaps not take a punt on O'Halloran for 500k and Garner for 1.6m, and wages for Barton and Krancjar whose Rangers careers are over before they started. Fix the defence, get a goal-scorer, and Europe will take care of itself.
  8. I agree with Craig. The addition of a couple of strong, proven centre-backs and a goal-scorer would put a fair bit of shine on this Rangers team.
  9. Agreed. We need to drop the whole Europe thing for a while and focus on rebuilding our club.
  10. It is, but that's where we are. The one good thing about the last four years is that we may just have shed a few fair-weather glory-hunters. Meanwhile the real Bears can rally round the club no matter how bleak the outlook. And yes, I imagine it is going to take a few years yet.
  11. That's a fair post. And I agree about Dodoo, I think he's shown enough now that the manager can start putting a bit of faith in him.
  12. It shouldn't be forgotten that Aberdeen, 'Scotland's second force', fawned over for three years by the media, were outplayed on their own patch by Rangers.
  13. HE STRIKES ME AS THE BETTER SHOT-STOPPER OF THE TWO. But seriously, I just didn't understand the goalkeeper being the main talking point before this game. It was never going to affect the result. And in actual fact when it came to it, Gilks might just have given Warburton a headache.
  14. It is worth pointing out that Warburton still hasn't had the luxury of playing Celtic at Ibrox.
  15. Some bigoted sh*te referring to some Irish rebel a hundred years ago, I'm guessing.
  16. Whisper it, but he strikes me as the better shot-stopper of the two.
  17. He was the wrong side of him in the lead up to the goal. Though it should be said that Hill had his best game in a Rangers shirt today. Don't get me started on Kiernan.
  18. Yeah, but the point remains. I cannot criticise that Rangers team for lack of effort today, but they're simply a level below the quality of Celtic.
  19. Hodson staked a claim to be first-choice RB for the rest of the season today IMO.
  20. I just wonder if there are legitimate questions to be asked of Dave King now. See the money that's being spent on giving Ibrox a lick of paint, could that not have gone on a couple of decent centre halfs? I completely understand that this is going to be a long-term recovery, and that there are no quick fixes. But if King has the money he claims to be willing to spend on the club, would it not be an idea to get the team on the park a bit closer to where they belong as pretty much a starting point? The entire institution follows from the success - or lack thereof - on the park.
  21. Full time. Well, there's positives from that today. The main being that we were a lot closer to them today than at Parkhead. We actually turned up and gave them a game. A bit of luck and we might have been the ones to sneak a last minute goal. But as dodgy as Craig Thomson is, we're simply a level below them. I know I sound like a broken record, but until Warburton sorts out our Championship-level defensive problems, he shouldn't expect to win any silverware with Rangers, nor enjoy European nights at Ibrox. He should have taken the wages we splurged on Kranjcar and Barton, neither of whom, three months into the season, are likely to play for the club again, and spent the entire summer getting to grips with the defence. Three months into the season, 'not getting the breaks' doesn't really cut it any more.
  22. By the way, and I promise this isn't sour grapes, but you can add today to Craig Thomson's charge sheet. We weren't good enough. But Craig Thomson has a problem with Rangers Football Club.
  23. Surprise surprise, poor defending by Rangers. We are going to win f*ck all unless Warburton sorts this out.
