  1. Arguably the most valuable player in world football right now.
  2. Just saw MOTD. That was frightening how easily Chelsea blew Arsenal away. They are head and shoulders above the rest of the league. And Conte diving into the crowd
  3. Injured. Out of the 6N and a doubt for the Lions tour - if fit he'd be my tip for tighthead against the All Blacks.
  4. What an utterly magnificent result. First opening 6N win in ELEVEN years, and against the tournament favourites. Finally, finally a result to match the pre-tournament hype. We appear to have unearthed a good handful of world class players at the same time, and they're young so this Scotland team should only get better under Townsend. Can't remember feeling so upbeat about the state of Scottish rugby. From 40-60 minutes had a real ominous 'here comes another glorious failure' feeling about it, but the fact Ireland didn't put more points on the board during such a dominant spell speaks volumes about the Scottish defence. No easy points against this Scotland side (though I always worry about Twickenham). Stuart Hogg: only injury will stop him starting at 15 for the Lions now. World class, arguably the best full-back in the world right now, and certainly the best in the northern hemisphere. England would have been loving that Scotland result today, but they were disappointing v France this evening. Genuinely looks like an everyone-can-beat-everyone tournament this year, and that includes Italy against the Welsh tomorrow. The football got well and truly dingied today.
  5. Hardly a surprise. SNP and Sinn Fein - two cheeks of the same arse.
  6. You know, I think you're right. Warburton definitely has something to offer, he just strikes me as more of a Director of Football than a head coach.
  7. No egg-chasing fans on here? Best Scotland squad since the inception of the Six Nations in 2000, though in truth it may be two more years before they fully fulfil their potential. For the first time in a generation we are capable of beating any of the other teams on our day. But of course, we're Scotland so won't. If we beat the Irish at home first up then all bets are off, though despite Irish injuries we remain underdogs. Wherever we finish in the table, we're going to score tries throughout the tournament when a few years ago we simply couldn't buy one. Together with being a Lions year, the fact that all six teams have improved since last year's 6N (with a string of victories over southern hemisphere sides in the autumn) makes this year's tournament one to look forward to. I'm going with: England Ireland Scotland France Wales Italy
  8. These predictions being correct represents the last chance of an open title race. Both Arsenal and Liverpool would be up for it. If Chelsea win, they have the title IMO. And they'd deserve it too. I read an interview with Robert Pires in the paper this morning, he said titles were won against the likes of Watford, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, rather than in games against the top teams. This has been Arsenal's achilles heel for a number of years now. You just wouldn't expect Chelsea to arse up against these teams.
  9. Fancy Leicester to get something against Man Utd.
  10. Mate, I think we'd all be glass half full in Bermuda
  11. No, but at least the opposition might realise they're not getting anything without battling for it.
  12. It's not a great comparison to be honest. Unless you truly believe we are going to scale Fergie-style heights in Europe under Warburton.
  13. I'm not disagreeing with you, but it's a little frustrating that my point continues to be misunderstood. I'm not demanding to win every game. I'm not demanding Laudrup/Gough-type quality. I'm merely demanding the same level of commitment as those players you mention. Theboyharley makes a good point about the captain. When we go a goal down, I want to see him f*cking roaring at his players. The fans have already done more than enough for this Rangers team.
  14. An old-fashioned view I know, but teams should be shitting themselves upon seeing Rangers next up on the fixture list. OK we're flat broke, but among the many things money doesn't buy you are attitude and application.
  15. It's not happening for Warburton. But our financial situation is such that I don't see much point demanding he goes - not mid-season anyway - unless we'd be happy with a Stuart McCall-type replacement.
  16. I'll say again - I'm well aware of our economic situation and fully accept that we don't have Laudrups and Albertzes. My point concerns effort and professionalism, not quality. Take as a comparison, oh I don't know, Hearts? Similarly limited quality, but well-drilled, knew their job and did their best to carry it out. In other words, pretty much all you need to pick up three home points against this Rangers side. Last time Celtic conceded 4 to a non-OF side they had a new manager within days.
  17. Perhaps you can come up with another explanation for that gutless performance last night then, or the plethora of similar 'efforts' this season. You're not going to tell me those players are giving it their everything are you?
  18. None of which excuses players not bothering their arse. I can take getting beat, it's part of the game. But this Rangers team just doesn't care. Which is criminal, frankly.
  19. 100% correct. However, we all know this won't happen. With honourable exceptions for the likes of Miller, the vast majority of the players simply don't care enough and are happy to pick up a wage, something which has been far more detrimental to us this season than a lack of quality (though Rob Kiernan is a Scottish Championship player if ever I saw one).
  20. I actually feel sorry for Miller on nights like that. All the great players he's played with in a Rangers shirt, and he is expected to make something happen with a team of disinterested wasters around him.
  21. It's not challenging for the title next season that worries me. It's not challenging for the title for the next decade.
  22. This goes into my wee book of things one doesn't expect to read on a football forum
  23. Halliday has needed a spell out for about four months now.
  24. Yes, that is true. Try and seal 2nd place and take it from there. Something needs to change in the summer or we'd better get used to seeing more performances and results like tonight.
  25. That Hearts side has no more quality than Rangers. They simply wanted it more. We looked utterly disinterested from start to finish. I just feel for the fans who forked out and turned up tonight. I like Warburton, but he's simply not going to take us to the next level.
