https://rng.rs/41SUOkE DISABLED FACILITIES AT IBROX UPDATE PREV ARTICLE Disabled Facilities at Ibrox Update RANGERS are today pleased to update supporters on our plans to upgrade and improve facilities for disabled fans at Ibrox, with the overall stadium capacity also set to rise. At a meeting of the club’s board last week, a phased series of works was agreed, with that beginning this summer with further construction scheduled for the summers of 2024 and 2025 to provide Ibrox with the best disabled facilities of any stadium in Scotland and become one of the most accessible sports arenas in Europe. The summer periods have been chosen to ensure regular season matches are not disrupted by this essential work. In all, this significant investment will take the number of spaces for wheelchair users to 270, while 700 general access seats will also be added. Upon completion, the capacity of Ibrox will be in excess of 51,500. The board have also reaffirmed their intention to improve facilities for all supporters, with a phased programme of concourse and toilet refurbishment also under review. Phase one will commence in a matter of weeks and will include key structural works in the Broomloan and Copland Stands. This work will not impact season ticket holders in these stands for 2023/24. This work will include: Extending the concourses to create space for additional accessible toilets. Creating additional accessible kiosk points. Alterations for the installation of lifts to the accessible platforms. Phase two will be undertaken during the 2024 close season. Season ticket holders in the Broomloan and Copland stands affected by this essential work will be consulted throughout the process and alternative seating will be identified. This work will include: The creation of new platforms to accommodate new wheelchair spaces. The construction of cantilevers to house new, general access seating.     Phase three will then be undertaken in the close season of 2025, with the Sandy Jardine Stand becoming the focus. Again, season-ticket holders affected by the essential work will be fully consulted and offered alternative seating. This work will include: Installation of additional, accessible seating within the Sandy Jardine stand. This will involve the loss of some seats, however this will be mitigated with additional seating being installed in the Broomloan and Copland Stands.     Rangers Disability Access Officer, John Spiers, commented: "These fantastic plans will provide Rangers’ disabled supporters with some truly world-class accessible facilities. "The club are aware our current offering for disabled supporters is not good enough for a club of our standing, however, these works will ensure that Rangers will provide the highest standard of accessibility for our disabled supporters. They will be able to attend matches in significantly more comfort, with hugely improved access to the stadium, as well as fully accessible facilities and views of the match. "I look forward to the completion of these works and to welcoming so many more disabled supporters to Ibrox in the coming seasons." Two minutes in the door! Rangers star Nicolas Raskin has revealed his “ultimate dream” of playing for English Premier League giants Chelsea. The Belgian midfielder admits he decided on a move to Ibrox as it would be the best stepping stone to an eventual move to Stamford Bridge. Raskin has been one bright spark for Rangers in recent weeks amid back-to-back defeats against Celtic that leaves them facing a trophy-less season. He was one of two January signings brought in by Michael Beale alongside fellow midfielder Todd Cantwell and both have been seen as relatively successful buys during a season to forget. But, despite only four months in Glasgow, the 22-year-old isn’t planning on sticking around in Scotland for any lengthy period, with one eye already on a move south. Speaking to Brussells publication La Derniere Heure, he said: “My ultimate dream is to play in the Premier League with Chelsea. Playing in Scotland struck me as a good intermediate step. “But Rangers are still a big name in British football. Before they came in for me, I had approaches from Club Brugge and Genk. “But I think it would be a mistake for me to play for another club in Belgium, as Standard will always be the club I love most. “Other clubs were interested in me as well, but Rangers’ interest was the strongest.”

Club 1872 Meeting with John Bennett Dear Contributor, Yesterday, Club 1872 held a meeting with new Rangers Chairman, John Bennett in London. This was the first meeting between Club 1872 and a current RIFC Director since March 2020 and we were very encouraged that Mr Bennett took the time to meet with us so early in his Chairmanship. We have been on public record since last year regarding our serious concerns over the day to day management and general direction of the club. Yesterday’s meeting presented Club 1872 with our first opportunity in three years to bring a number of those concerns directly to the attention of the RIFC Board. The purpose of the meeting was to have an introductory discussion addressing historical issues, including the circumstances leading to the club’s disengagement from dialogue with Club 1872 and other areas of concern to Club 1872 Contributors and the wider support. It was agreed by both parties that this should be done with a view to moving forward together for the benefit of Rangers. During the meeting, which lasted over two hours, Mr Bennett was willing and eager to listen to Club 1872’s views and in turn he explained the club's perspective on various issues. In that regard it was a very useful exchange of views. We were extremely encouraged by Mr Bennett’s openness and willingness to listen. One point which emerged from the meeting is that Mr Bennett clearly believes that actions speak louder than words. It has been clear from recent announcements that there are major changes underway at Ibrox. We welcome those changes along with Mr Bennett’s demonstration in our meeting of his commitment to meaningful, two-way fan engagement. Mr Bennett made it clear that he regards our organisation and strong supporter representation as an important aspect of the future development of the Club. We hope and believe that the Chairman found our lengthy discussion useful, including the information we presented to him relating to the club’s engagement with Club 1872 and the Rangers support generally and how that might be improved. Both parties agreed that continued dialogue is essential and will quickly progress into more detailed discussion over the coming weeks. Club 1872
