ALLY McCOIST was pleased with his sideâ??s second half display after a disappointing start saw them fall behind to East Stirlingshire. The Rangers boss was delighted by the turnaround that saw them run out 5-1 victors, but he admits the response to going a goal down wasnâ??t as quick as he would have hoped. He said: â??I donâ??t actually think our initial response was great. I thought we were ok in terms of our response but I thought we got going maybe after about 20 minutes. â??Iâ??ve been saying all week that weâ??ve been a little bit concerned about our defending, especially against Peterhead. â??And again it was a poor decision and I have no problems with the penalty and that was not the start that we would have wanted. â??It took us a bit to get going but once we did I thought we were alright. We created a staggering amount of chances.â? McCoistâ??s side got in front before half time but it was their display after the interval that he was most pleased by. He added: â??Our second half performance I was very pleased with. I thought we had some good individual performances within the team and played some really good football. â??I thought we looked comfortable on the ball and created good goal scoring opportunities and I would hope in the next few weeks that we brush up on our finishing.â?

ALLY McCOIST singled Barrie McKay out for praise after a fine display from the youngster in todayâ??s 5-1 win over East Stirlingshire. The Rangers boss was pleased by the youngsterâ??s contribution after he replaced the injured Dean Shiels mid-way through the first half. And he pointed to rapid improvements in the 17-year-oldâ??s game already despite it being only his fifth top team appearance. McCoist said: â??He was magic today. Heâ??s an intelligent player and there are wee things that Iâ??m more pleased about that maybe arenâ??t as noticeable. â??His ball retention and decision making and the fact he didnâ??t switch off at times. I can see improvements in that in the early stages of his career which is great. â??In terms of his decision making he took two players on in the left back position and went past them and then two minutes later put a cross in. â??He got both those decisions right and itâ??s those things that we were looking for improvements in. â??I thought he was excellent today and so was young Lewis Macleod.â?

CHARLES GREEN made a public thank you to Rangers fans ahead of todayâ??s match as he addressed supporters in the sold-out stadium before kick-off. On a day when the 49,118 inside eclipsed all other attendances in Scotland, and beat the combined total of all five SPL matches the Rangers Chief Executive thanked supporters for their continued loyalty. ALLY McCOIST makes one change to his lineup for Rangers' first ever Third Division match at Ibrox. Francisco Sandaza makes his first start as a Rangers player with Barrie McKay dropping to the bench to make way for the Spaniard. Lewis Macleod retains his place in midfield but Sandaza's inclusion would allow a variety of formations to be employed by McCoist. It could see a return to midfield for Lee McCulloch, with Andy Little given more freedom to attack. However Lee Wallace's energy on the left side could see the Rangers boss retain the back three he has favoured recently. McKay has a place on the bench along with Emilson Cribari, with the Brazilian defender seeking his Rangers debut. Neil Alexander takes his expected place in goal, with a defensive four made up of full internationals in front of him. Kirk Broadfoot and Lee Wallace take the full back positions with Dorin Goian and Carlos Bocanegra in the centre. CEO understands fans' reluctance to renew with SPL status under threat http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/football-news/article/2817375 By Neil Smith CHARLES GREEN understands why Rangers fans are reluctant to renew their season tickets at a time when the club's SPL status is under threat. And he knows he will have to work hard to gain the supporters' trust given the turmoil they have endured since February 14 when the Light Blues entered administration under previous owner Craig Whyte. But speaking to RangersTV.tv at Ibrox today the new Chief Executive urged season ticket holders to make decisions 'based on their conscience and what they feel is right for the club.' Green, of course, is as frustrated as anyone about the uncertainty surrounding the 2012/13 campaign but the Yorkshireman has reiterated that any money brought in from renewals will be ring fenced in a secure account. He said: "We said in the letter that went out for renewals that any season ticket money we receive will be put in a specific account and it will be ring fenced, that is exactly where we are. "That catered for a number of contingencies, not least of which was that in the event that we weren't playing football in any league, because one of the options still open to the SFA with the appellate trial is that we could have our license withdrawn or removed completely. "It would be improper and unfair for us to receive money when we can't deliver a product. "So that protection is still there but what I would say to fans is that we will, in my view, be playing football in Scotland. "I can't say what league or division at this stage which is really unfortunate, but there is full protection there and as things unfold over the next few weeks we'll be able to come back to season ticket holders. "I've met fans personally outside the stadium and people have also emailed and written to me. "They've been saying they've taken up their season tickets while there are obviously people saying they're not taking up their season tickets too and we understand that. "This issue of trust is not something which will be overcome overnight. "The fans of this club were let down by the previous owner and, to some extent, the owner before him. "We never expected that would be forgotten overnight and for us, it's about repairing that trust and it's a long-term thing. "We are here for the long term and I don't expect it to be an overnight success. "Fans have to make decisions based on their conscience and what they think is right for the club. "What I can tell them is that money is protected and it's in an account which will not be used until I can sit in front of you and tell you where we're playing and what league we'll to be in."
